PETALING JAYA: The family of the 26-year-old Vietnamese woman who fell to her death from the 14th floor of an apartment building on Saturday wants a second post-mortem done.

A close family friend said the deceased's mother Nguyen Thi Nan, 52, and other family members suspected the woman was abused by her husband prior to her death.

“The first post-mortem, which was only a basic examination, did not reveal anything out of the ordinary.

“That is why we want a second, more thorough, post-mortem,” said the family friend who wished to remain anonymous.

The post-mortem was conducted at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre after the victim, Nguyen Thi Truong An, fell onto a passing car near a shopping mall at about 10.45am on Saturday.

The family first suspected she was being abused when her sister saw bruises on her face while chatting with her via a webcam.

“She also ran back to her mother's house in Jalan Ipoh two months ago after having a big argument with the husband,” said the friend.

Petaling Jaya CID chief Deputy Supt Sia Siew Keng said initial investigations showed the woman had an argument with her husband before locking herself in the bedroom shortly before her body was discovered 14 floors below.

“She was not nude or semi-naked as previously reported,” he said, adding that the case had been classified as sudden death but police had not ruled out foul play.

“We will take statements from the woman's family as well as neighbours and the security team at the building,” he said.
