Guys, is there like, any specific thing I need to do do properly charge the phone. Sometimes the battery would last long. But on the Battery Menu, it says 3m and 42s on battery. Though sometimes it says 18 hrs.

Do I need to recalibrate my battery? I'm running on GSM with Bluetooth and WiFi turned off.

Does Arc charge fast? It takes around 3 hours to get to full charge with mine. What about you guys?

Any suggestion on better phone plans? Good calls, so-so internet. Anything that is worth the price. No Maxis please.

QUOTE(abanglek @ Aug 12 2011, 12:25 PM)
get ap set for rm13++ & use celcom or maybe digi (rather than rm14++ with contract from maxis). it's hard to ignore the fact that maxis have shoking bill (for data, & other hidden charges). i think maxis is just for company subsidize line.

with celcom, youtube is breezing fast, okay with other browsing (sometime slow). or if you have streamyx/unifi, celcom have cheapest rm50+ plan (i think 300mb data), just for your widget update or so.

but don't worry, celcom & digi just throttle down the speed after data limit reached.
*
Could you explain more. I'm actually thinking of changing from Maxis. They charge me like hell, and they didn't even tell me I've reached my limit. 10MB=RM100; ridiculous.

Hey....lol i am planning to get Maxis.....i know it is kinda expensive but is the speed fast?Cause Digi is seriously slow....you cant download shit....i live in city area somemore.....zzz

I dont think Digi is a good choice....if you wan cheap and good i heard U Mobile is very good.......Celcom good also but price almost the same as maxis.

Is maxis Fast???How fast?

Digi's fastest is like 387kbps....i've tried both plans.....the rm88 and the one rm10...it is the same thing.....
That's the reason i change from rm88 to rm10 for 5 days....cause waste my money....other states i am not sure but if you live in Penang do not get Digi unless you are a very patient guy......
*
Maxis is good. I used them for like, more than 5 years now. 5 years on Hotlink too. But their problem is, they are like Apple. Charging quite a premium on their products/services. If my family's paying then it is fine, but now I need to pay everything, so can't really say "I'd be with you forever Maxis". Trying to find a cheaper alternative.

Sadly, Maxis is the best out there. 2 bars but still can have around 100KB/s. Celcom is second, cheaper I guess. DiGi needs more coverage, if they have, I'll convert my whole family to DiGi.

Still thinking of what to change. Maxis, can't you come up with a better plan?

it's not personal, but i will use anything but maxis (tried digi but you know what, coverage, but also good. i'm also ready to throw my astro if unify reaching my place).

my experience with celcom, they block immediately after reaching limit, including data & release immediately after maybank2u payment.
note here: there is no need to worry about data limit actually, they just throttle down the speed. i just experience when i'm subscribing daily & the they still count 10c/10kb. after reaching the limit, blocked. but they replying money when show the conformation subscription sms etc at center.

just check out the service provider website (celcom/digi) pick 1 that suit you. go to sp center to finished your registration, pick sim card etc. i can't tell what suit to you. what is your priority, call or data (i'm both not, i don't call much & i hate wireless broadband, i just streamyx or not at all). my wife take rm88 plan with 2gb data, she happy with that. with lot of call & lot of social networking & lot of gossiping, never pay more than that. i think rm88 plan is just base plan for everyone, than you can make adjustment after use it 1-2 months to suit you (maybe you need more data limit or more call?).

Thanks for the tips. Appreciate it.

Is there any way to enable sounds when typing? I miss the sound from Vivaz and my sis Galaxy Mini. The click thing.

I can't figure out why when we try to take picture at dimly lit areas, it looks brighter through the eyes of the lens but when the picture is taken it looks so much darker. Is there any way to adjust on what you see is what you get? And does anyone's flash reflect back on you and the light blurring it when taking close up pictures with flash?
*
Even after adjusting the settings (white balance, EV, etc)? I find that Arc's camera is slightly better than Vivaz. I never use flash. Using flash to take picture is a no-no. Unless for real emergency.

I wish there will be a time that we can have DSLR with a phone.

Maybe perhaps? I want to at least have the ability to change the f-n, ISO and what not.

Taking pictures at a club kind of reflects the flash, making it has patch of white spots which spoil the pictures.

I have no idea why snapping pictures without flash is darker from what I see in the viewfinder.
*
Of course, there's not enough light coming in to the camera. One trick that I usually use is to use EV, and white balance. It'll make the image slightly better. Though usually I'd avoid taking picture in poorly lighted area.

Then again this Arc ExmoR is quite nice. Can't wait for the panorama sweep. Then I can use it fully like I used Vivaz.

I think it has something to do with the metering function. I really hope so. I remember that ad in a club about the ExmoR. What we see while trying to take a picture is what we will get in the picture.

It is quite funny that there are 2 different results
Results from xperiablog, pro-Andriod

Results from allaboutsymbian, pro-Nokia

What would you say? Both phones are able to produce stunning photo. Either one of them are able to kill phone from the rest of the world. You are basically asking whether an Audi A8 better or a BMW 7 Series better, which it is quite subjective to answer.

As for the pricing, kindly proceed to Garage Sales for the up-to-date pricing.
*
Love the analogy, Arc is BMW I guess? The hardware is pretty much a tie. Each has it own value. But then, the software is what matters.

Guys i have one question,
AP arc and ori arc got any difference?
Other than the price and the accessories given by ori
I don't really need those accessories for now so i don't plan to spend extra rm400 on it....

Anyone using AP Arc here???
*
I'm using the AP, got a HDMI cable. I think the same as the Ori set. Just no Bluetooth headset. Not sure if they still give that now.

According to lelong:
N8 price is around 700-900 while Sony Arc is around 1200 - 1700.

http://www.mobile88.com/news/read.asp?file...sson-Xperia-Arc

IMHO, N8 is nice, but the software is not that future proof.

no customer equliazer (Download a better one in the market.)
camera quality terrible (Use software like Vignette, Camera 360.)
cant view phone memory like last time (What's the use?)
no free map (Google map is free right?)
low battery life (My Arc can last a day, I wonder what is your usage pattern.)
others......to be find out
*
The best thing about Android is that, if you don't have something, you can download it in the market. If the stock music player is that pleasurable., download a different one. There's a lot of nice media player.

i admit i dont know anything with android, however so do the manufacturer expect every us go for detail study before buying it..........

if computer hardware okay la, i will look around the review, but phone........regret of because rushing n didn't done review properly first....

no wonder the reseller keep suggest me to buy samsung s1 or s2, now i know the reason...... T.T
*
Of course the manufacturer expect us to go every detail. That is why they release information and create marketing strategy. Don't buy something that you don't know.

guys, i need a lot of suggestions, hope u all can help me. im considering to buy a smartphone, n arc is my top list, i dun really mind bout the single core as i will buy myself a tablet if i want more cores hehe..

1st- can u guys list me pros n cons of this phone..other than bein single core.

2nd- shud i wait for arc s? what would b the xpected ap n ori price if available?

3rd- i really new in android, wat is root? n shud i or shudnt i root my phone?

4th- i seeing a lot of u mention bout flast to generic or somethin, wat is it? is it dangerous or risk shud i aware of by doin it?

thanks in advance, bein a fan of se for so long, n i really fall in lov wit arc design.

1.
Pro-
The screen is nice.
The battery can last long.
Good price VS cost ratio.
Camera is nice, but the application is not.

Con-
It's a single core.
Needs more RAM and internal storage.

2.
If you have the money then you should. I expect the ORI set would be somewhat around 1.8k? By then I guess Arc would come down in price. Depends I guess. Just minor difference.

3.
IMHO, rooting is only for advanced user.
Try googling for some article.
What is rooting and 5 reason you should root.
If you have those reason then root. If not, then don't

4.
If you do it incorrectly, it might make the phone brick.

is it true bout the battery?bcause im buying xperia arc s later, love the design and camera.
i have iphone4 and some android device(xperia play,asus tablet,xperia x10mini,csl mi700)
the thing im not satiesfied with android battery is
like this
if i charge my iphone 4 to 100%,then i never use it or i left it idle aaround 5-8hours .the battery will remain 100% ,if it not 100% it will be around 96-98%
but for android,if i charge to 100% and i left it idle for 5-8hours,it will drain till 91%,sometime 87% which is bad.maybe unclosed apps or something but iphone have far a lot unclosed apps, this is weird

i always heard that android u need to change brightness, close apps, but for me the differences is not that much

all my android device battery is bad except for asus bcause got dock,no dock also the battery is satisfying
*
Well I said it based on experience. I turn off 3G, GPS and Data when I am not using it. And it can last for 2 days of I am using it for calls or SMS only. Add music listening to the list it'll last a bit shorter. Playing apps also does not drain much of the battery. Played Destinia for 1 hour+ the battery drops 15%. I think it's quite good. It's comparable to iPhone.

Yo guys, I'm having this problem in my Arc. The gallery thumbnail for my photo is not display properly and the thumbnail and actual photo is no matching. Anyone have this problem? How to fix it? I erase the sdcard in storage also cannot fix it.
*
Ah that did happened to me. It usually go back to normal after a restart.

I thought it was due to same file name but then again, after I checked, it has nothing to do with it. Different folder, and different file-name. I'm guessing it might be due to caching problems?
