because you are in malaysia, so obviously you are a second-rate engineer that cannot get a job overseas, so therefore low-pay for second-rate engineer is warranted.

Work for 10 years..increment abt 5% per yr .. salary abt RM5K oni..

If smart.. alwys jump company or get promoted maybe can get about 7-8K la... 10K oso possible all dpds on company and oso ur boss la. if he likes ur work.. can up fast.. and $$ oso go up faster.. but majority still stuck at RM5k range... by age 30..

so this dude with only pmr is will laugh at engineers?

what u aspect from engineer..high class kuli la..high salary? common la its normal salary la even another executive can get what can engineer get. My friend working for Alcatel-Lucent base at London, project submarine cable network. Working round the world (at least 3 month at oversea) His payment £120/day (not include his claim/food/transportation/bonus) .. his family living at Malaysia dont have much problem at all.

Well said i graduated with EE degree but seriously so hard to find a job thats more than 3k. been released by Petronas few months ago. they also dont have (that much) money to cater fresh grads engineer.

but some factory, they offer job with post "bla bla bla engineer" to diploma holder, but technician level pay.

In US, they had two path for career growth plan for each of their employees. One is technical side another managerial part. Although it's totally diff path the outcome salary is not much different. A senior manager earning more or less the income of a senior engineer. Since they're significant towards each other.

But in Msia, sad but tru. engineer is high level kuli. Make sure the company provide OT, Mileage claim and other allowance before u accept their offer cause basic pay definitely not enough. Driving a City? wearing Frogskin and APC? with 3k? bullshi* i'd say

There are quite a lot of jobs that do give a decent starting pay in malaysia. But of course it needs the right people.
Problem is a lot of the newbies i saw have poor english skills, and not thinking rather expecting things to be told. Who is going to pay big bucks for this?

why? my company have an OT rate for all non-management staff. rm35 per hour is pretty decent for me. even my senior engineer colleague still has OT rate. His basic around 9k.

i agree, but u should know how kids these day was raised. especially those who live in urban area and mingle with millionaires kid. how bout a hard working, speak fluent english, o&g engineer whom earn almost half of what other engineers from another country earned but still done nothing less from them.
