In US, they had two path for career growth plan for each of their employees. One is technical side another managerial part. Although it's totally diff path the outcome salary is not much different. A senior manager earning more or less the income of a senior engineer. Since they're significant towards each other.

But in Msia, sad but tru. engineer is high level kuli. Make sure the company provide OT, Mileage claim and other allowance before u accept their offer cause basic pay definitely not enough. Driving a City? wearing Frogskin and APC? with 3k? bullshi* i'd say

i have no idea wtf is frogskin, APC and why the F would i drive the POS city.

don't get trigger too fast if it ain't got nothing to do with u. i just lay an example of a fresh grad engineer dreams when they start working n earn their own money.

There are quite a lot of jobs that do give a decent starting pay in malaysia. But of course it needs the right people.
Problem is a lot of the newbies i saw have poor english skills, and not thinking rather expecting things to be told. Who is going to pay big bucks for this?
As for your examples, if being overly materialistic, at least aim higher on the luxury scale.

Of course good salary won't fall from the sky and land beautifully on your lap. and FYI i have a very good reputation during my 8 months intern at ALU. go work at 9am, leave work almost 9pm. Im not that typical cheapskate gal looking for good salary with no experience. i have good grades too.

Been interviewed, passed SI,promised a job but PET so miskin now (and EE market ain't good in PET, unfortunately). they offer 4k (which is not bad), im looking for better pay knowing what i can offer. and yeah im choosy when it comes to good-earn-money (who doesn't??). just looking for the right job with best offer at the moment. chill lah bro  whistling.gif

Well, wont' blame u for jumping into that "stereotype-conclusion" as i'm well aware of the typical unemployed grads with so-so qualification but demands sky high.

I like your attitude, often I see a lot of freshies 'spoil' the market for others by accepting too low of a pay and poor working conditions.
But realistically 4k as a start sounds around the upper end of what anybody would pay for a fresh engineer in malaysia. Maybe if it involves some odd times, offshorre etc you could get more.

If they don't need EE and why on earth did they sponsored EE students? haven't u heard of EE engineers offshore? Power Plants? Hun, who's noob now? smile.gif

petronas doesnt really care what kind of engineer they sponsor, during my short stint with them, they would assign the engineers anywhere even if it has no relation to their studies

I briefly went to have a look at O&G because they offered, but it's too dangerous for my liking and i dont like religious stuff being imposed at the workplace.
Im back in the auto industry with a normal 8-4 job, good working conditions and much more €s.

My boss likes to have daily meetings, and we start off with baca doa. Rotates among the team.

Ok might as well baca doa, because when i visit the plant there is a big sign there on how many days without a plant incident, but i prefer to do this myself, without it being a company thing.
