i really love my marimos lol, every week i patted them so they dont collect fish poo and tank dust, make them firm and ripe green
just wished they grow faster since they usually got eaten little by little by my ghost shrimps This post has been edited by LuQEE: Jun 12 2012, 10:24 PM |

always saw them nipping bit by bit using their tiny pincers.
cant see any drastic damage of course. but maybe their nipping made my marimo stays in shape i guess? |

IMHO, you can only see the photosynthesis after-effect, O2 being released in the water if your water is fully saturated with O2 and CO2 gas.

QUOTE(ck.chunkeat @ Aug 7 2012, 10:49 PM) hmm...hard for me to keep it cold...im putting my marimo in a bottle at the moment..quite hard for me to keep it below 28 degree..think the only way is to put in fridge or put ice cubes into the bottle... theres alot of alternatives, using DIY DC or AC fans, using factory made cooling fans for aquariums, using chiller and last but not least, using air-cond. |

QUOTE(Azure_Fox @ Aug 15 2012, 01:48 PM) Hello, I'm getting ready for Leeyung's Nano Marimo that currently on the way to my home^^.So I have a few questions..thank you for Marimo fan for reading my questions, hehehe.. most of your questions have been answered by Leeyung's previously in the first page. 1. do Coral sand need to be washed frequently? 2. what kind of salt that we should use to treat Sick Marimo? 3. how to treat yellowish marimo? How long do I need to put yellowish marimo in the fridge? Do I need to quarantine marimo from any Light when they turn yellowish? 4. what is the Best Lamp for Marimo? (I need reference for the tank setup!)^^ 5. what kind of Fish is the best to put together with Marimo? 6. what tool do I need to use to balance/create best water condition for Marimo? 7. what kind of plant is the best to put together with Marimo? thank you so much~ I really want my marimos have the best treatment! >.<)b I try my best do try and read there, though you might find some answers maybe differ from person to person like question number 2,3,4,5,6 and 7. |

btw, i would like to share, some of my preffered faunas for my marimos are dwarf shrimps(RCS,fire red, etc),
dwarf crayfish(cpo), Otocinclus and platydoras and corydoras since most of them dont disturb the marimos and they will clean your marimo free of charge. |

nice marimos and lil cute tanks.
some of them will afloat if there are still air trapped inside. eventually they will sink down filter is an added bonus. since your tank is small/nano tank, i suggest Hang over/HOB filter since your tank already small and do find ones that could fit and nicely hang itself on the tank. |

what i did was clean the gravel/sand/substrate the best i can,
install filter(active carbon doesnt really works IMO your setup havent got any faunas in it and lack of nutrients and minerals will make the water extra clear than using tap water. if got extra cash to spare, chuck in seachem purigen in the filter(for xtra clearer water-good substitute for active carbon) and use seachem equilibrium to re-establish the ideal mineral content back in the water. but if youre unsure if youre gonna do with your cute marimos in the future, just rinse the gravel the best you can, put filter and water, and wait till all the dust settle maybe a day or 2 might clear it up. why did i do these steps? to give love and cherish to our pet marimos where is he btw though? in Hokkaido? getting another big super duper jumbo marimo? |

QUOTE(leeyung @ Aug 19 2012, 10:27 AM) Eh bro, using RO water is not a good idea as it was too "clean" and less on mineral, it is just a pure H2O without any mineral, the water hardness is pretty low for RO water. haha, my bad.wakakaka, yeah outstation and less frequent online btw, have fun bro and take care while working. i thought you went to japan again to get those greatx5 grandfather marimo the size of a big ball |

QUOTE(Azure_Fox @ Aug 25 2012, 10:29 AM) woah, I just research it, they said it kinda like Plankton, called Copepods. White small, thin like snow..and walking around the aquarium glasses +_+. You might wanna prepare yourself on what else gonna be in your lil marimos tank in the future. Though they are harmless of course. At first I kinda freak out, and so afraid that they might hurt marimos.. but after I know about it, I'm so relieved..hehehe.. they are completely harmless to your fish, and are actually a major source of food in natural freshwater environment Copepods /cyclops Seed Shrimp/ Ostracoda Daphnias Bloodworms - Nematodes Nymphs Mosquito Larvae |

QUOTE(jess7 @ Sep 3 2012, 10:47 PM) hey there momo peeps! if you are mixing them with your marimos, i dont recommend mixing them with crayfish, can anyone advise me where i can buy some crayfish and glass shrimps for my tank? m currently living in sunway pjs9 and sitiawan they like to eat everything from my experience, even my hard bogwood glass shrimps on the other will nibble bit by bits, but in my opinion, they are eating those black/grey/brown stuffs you noticed when you are washing your marimos. If you insisted on getting them however, cherry shrimps and CPO/dwarf crayfish is the best. Also, their colours really show some contrast between those greens~ just my 2 cent |

QUOTE(Azure_Fox @ Sep 22 2012, 06:01 PM) thank you for the reply moss will do fine with low lights. but they will eventually outgrow your marimo..and in my cases, in my country, the wheater is tropical forever so thats why I often put my marimo in the fridge... do Betta can survice in chlorine water? do you have any pleco fish too with ur betta? I'm thinking of small Peco (Otocinclus) ![]() I read that it's suitable for small aquarium because of its size.. I use Low Light Lamp level... is tall plant can be use with low light lamp? Because many tropical plants need high Light for their health.. envelope some part of the marimos and prevent them to get sufficient light. but you can make the moss grow light carpet on the gravel, while you tie the marimo to make it looks floating using fishing wire ..lol.. ive always wanted to do that..but not enought space and budget haha |
