That's the pity part about NP7282, if it came with a secondary generation i7 Core, then it should be perfect! Alienware M18X's tech spec is still better.
But for Sager NP8170, it's a one-to-one fight with Alienware M17X-R3.

but u know, running a desktop processor, it is as strong as second gen processor xD

That's why there are 2 fans on the CPU as compared to one fan on the M18X hmm.gif

I just checked and compared M18X and NP7282

Upgrading from GTX 460M to AMD HD6970M CrossFire
M18X: USD 400
NP7282: USD 625 (cheapest)

It's like USD 200 extra...hmm..., apparently, Alienware in U.S. is cheaper. Dell Malaysia overpricing Alienware...

hmm...bigger laptop comes with bigger room for cooling?

But this Alienware M18X really gives Sager NP7282 a slap.
M18X is not available in Malaysia, I tried to customize an M18X with AMD HD6970 crossfire in Dell U.S. website. Just choose not to upgrade the RAM and HDD since we can get cheaper here, price might be quite close to NP7282 and somemore it comes with an 18.4" screen.

Would prefer you to make your NP7282 naked for us to see the inside :>
I'm still curious about stuffing 3 HDD + 1 BDROM in NP7282.

np8130 and np8150 do not support optimus , sad , else i will take it
*
I heard carbonytte said it can be enabled in NP8130 and NP8150 by tweaking some settings...

Added on May 27, 2011, 6:59 pmBy the way, Optimus technology is not really that mature yet. Some people are having problems with it not being switching to the correct GPU. For instance, during gaming, it doesn't switch to the Nvidia GPU and instead causing CPU temp runs high...

Of course you can wait till Sager implements GTX 560M :]

just wanted to ask for an opinion, would it be better to deal with lpc digital or mucro.asia. interested in the np8150-s1
*
I thought you just ordered Alienware M14X from Dell recently lol.

I would personally go for LPC-Digital or Powernotebooks as I found out that XoticPC is offering higher shipping cost.
If you are staying in KL, then I suggest you to deal with mucro since they have a service partner in KL.

@tjinn
On the hardware side, if you are going to get a AMD HD6970M GPU, then Sager NP8150-S1 is your best bet. If you are going to stick with Nvidia Geforce GTX 460M, then Sager NP8130 is good enough.

I would say try to get a few quotations on shipping cost before making payments. For example, you can go to xoticpc, LPC-digital, Powernotebooks and customize your laptop according to your likes, then checkout the order and wait for them to quote you the shipping cost and total amount that you need pay. Then you will have a few to compare with before making your decision.

If you want to install your own harddisk and RAM, you can order from RJTech as they allow complete customization, you can choose which part to include in your laptop purchase.

For shipping case, USPS Express Mail International is the cheapest option, UPS is kinda expensive. Most of us ordered from U.S. chose USPS Express Mail International, tracking number will be provided by the reseller once your laptop has been shipped.

But, one thing for sure you need to be awared of is the warranty terms and conditions which most of the time if anything happens to your laptop within the warranty period, you need to send the laptop back to the reseller for RMA and you bear the shipping cost. If the fault is due to something small like harddisk, RAM or whatsoever is small, then you only need to ship the faulty part back to them which cut down your shipping cost a lot. Of course for the first time if you receive the laptop in a faulty condition, I'm sure they will cover the shipping cost and replace a new one for you.

I think what he means is that it is not worth to upgrade the GPU only to enjoy the optimus technology as it doesn't provide significant improvement in gaming performance.

He doesn't refer the product of GTX 460M being upgraded to GTX 560M as obviously GTX 560M is a new product.

However, it's a way to make NP8130 to be more competitive as a better choice for gaming since these days I see lots of people in the forum are requesting for better battery life and prefer to go for the optimus technology.

With RM 4k+, would you go for an Alienware M14X with single fan that comes with a GT 555M built into the motherboard? Or a laptop with dual fans that comes with a GTX 560M. I believe you know the answer.

I believe not much improvement in performance besides with the new optimus technology.

Can check it out in notebookcheck.net.

i believe those who bought NP8130 recently should had hoped that their orders had been delayed until getting GTX 560M tongue.gif

@sweeann
By the way, if it's not because of the screen issue, you would have received it by now :[

They gave me a similar response when I ordered the 95% NTSC Color Gamut screen. I either wait for(god knows how long) them to have stock or change to regular screen. Well that screen is not a must for me. It won't make the PC unusable.

Oh? Which reseller are you ordering from?

How much is the shipping cost that LPC-Digital offer? And which courier service? UPS or USPS Express International?

@petpet007
You ordered from LPC-Digital too?

@tjinn
Haha, I know LPC-Digital's shipping cost is lower than XoticPC a lot (by RM), that's why I recommend either RJTech or LPC-Digital. For laptop excluding harddisk and RAM, go for RJTech. For whole laptop, go for LPC-Digital. I'm not sure about Powernotebooks, never dealt with them before but they have a variety of laptop backpack to choose from.

I guess you ordered Sager NP8150-S1 that comes with AMD HD6970M. Quite decent, around RM6k.

Yea about there. 5.9k according to maybank rates yesterday. I mailed all of them including mucro n cubeasia. But lpc customer service was the best imo.
Did my homework this time also . No more impulse buys like my alw.m14x. Lol
*
Great. Hahaha, for such a decent specs for a decent price, I'm sure you can't get it from Alienware and Asus.
The only thing you need to worry about now is the glossy gamut screen, hope they have enough stock :>

Haha, assume on average, one game takes up 10g. With 12 games, 120g. I give you max up to 200g

If still not enough for your movies, suggest to buy a 1TB external harddisk.
