Bluescreen can happen anytime... but when i remove new ram my sager back to normal... now I remove the stock ram and use 2 X 4GB corsair Vengeance is ok... I think stock ram cannot pair with corsair izzit?
*
shouldn't be a problem. RAM Controller in CPU should be able to handle different timing and speed of RAM, let alone different brand. It would be hard to do this in normal BIOS, but probably you could ask a custom BIOS on Sager to customize your RAM timing, make sure they are the same and then see whether it solves your problem.

It is the bios and chipset that controls timing and speed of ram.
H67 chipset allows you to change the ram speed up to 2133MHz.
However, you still need the BIOS to support such ram module. Otherwise, the system will not be able to boot up at all.
*
technically it isn't the chipset anymore, since chipset now only handle I/O stuff. Refer here : http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/chi...ss-chipset.html . Chipset is considered as both southbridge(input output controller hub ICH) and northbridge (graphics & memory controller hub or GMCH). That's the normal 3 chip solution in a PC (Refer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southbridge_(computing) ) However since a few years ago, both AMD and Intel has brought up the MCH and put it side by side with the CPU. ICH or Input-Output Controller Hub is nowadays known as PCH or Platform Controller Hub.

anyway, princeJ sells WiFi adapter as well? I might consider going for Intel WiFi now (unless the stock one has this feature as well) : http://www.wi-fi.org/discover-and-learn/wi...direct%E2%84%A2 . Intel has released their software stack to support this : http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Des...ldID=21165#help

Use cotton buds (soaked in warm water) to clean the dust.

Are these the dual fans in the laptop? I just unplug and wash them, then dry them. Although, plugging them back is quite a nuisance (since the power pin is kinda small).

Guys, wanna ask something:

3. The option to remove DVD and install caddy goes for $15 in one option, $45 in another. Any difference between these 2 options (Xoticpc)

*
can you explain. are you saying that there are two options to remove DVD and install caddy case at xoticpc?

actually you can also buy a enclosure for your dvd, if you decide to remove the DVD later. example : http://www.amazon.com/External-Enclosure-L...37064946&sr=1-1

the normal display is like 60% gamut right? then I believe you might get a more quality and vibrant display when you play games.

but just to be sure, try check this site : http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clev...ons-photos.html

for question (2), such items are expensive in malaysia because not many people buy it usually. it is like the 12.7mm caddy case, you can get for 10 bucks, but in malaysia it costs around rm60-100.

Had anyone seen the review of Clevo W110ER (a.k.a. Sager NP6110). From Anandtech and Notebookcheck.

Look like this is a powerful little beast except very hot when under load. Wish to replace my aging NP8690.

only hdmi output, ouch.

i think that's quite okay. You prefer to have DVI output? biggrin.gif

actually yes, since hdmi cables are not cheap in malaysia. also, to project stuff into projector, hard to find projector with hdmi. usually only vga. at least dvi-vga adapter is cheap. hdmi-vga : not so.

if any NP8130/NP8150 wants VT-d option in BIOS, try these BIOS/SPI Descriptor. I've got it from Sager techsupport but have yet to try them. I actually asked for NP8130, but my guess is that it should also work with NP8150, since from my understanding both seems to be the same (with the difference in NP8150 having a bigger-capacity AC adapter compared to NP8130).

Instructions are meant to burn them on CDs/DVDs, but I guess you could also try burning them on a bootable flash drive.

CODE
Hi, Please download the attached file 815ec11.zip.
Unzip the file to your hard drive.

The file 815ec11.iso is the image of a bootable disk with all the files for updating the system EC firmware.

Burn the 815ec11.iso to a CDR or CDRW disc.

Please make sure that the computer is on AC power.

Use the disc to boot the computer and flash the system firmware.

After the firmware is flashed, please disconnect the AC power and remove the battery for few seconds.

Im new to this forum cause im looking for some other sager user's, i traded a macbook pro on a local trading/selling site for a near mint sager NP-9262

Specs:
CPU: Core 2 Quad Q6700 @ 2.66 ghz (upgrading to a Core 2 Quad Q9650)
Ram: 4 gigabytes (brand unknown, upgrading to Patriot Signature DDR2 8GB (2 x 4GB) PC2-6400 SODIMM this week)
GPU: Quadro FX 3700M 1 gigabyte vram
HDD: 2 western digital Scorpio black 500 gb hdd in raid as a data strip
Screen res: 1920x1200 glossy 17 inch

im redoing the thermal paste and upgrading the ram this week and in a few more weeks im upgrading the cpu.

ill run any bench mark anyone asks, as i know there arnt many people with the quadro fx 3700m.
*
Quadro, not many people use since the focus is towards industrial stuff like AutoCAD rather than gaming (although it doesn't mean that you can't play games with a Quadro). I had one Quadro-based with my old HP8510.

1. mine using more than 1 year, no overheating problem and operates like normal.
2. This one quite varies. I think it's around 95'C for both, or the laptop suddenly shuts down due to overheating.
*
same with soundsyst64, no overheating problem. probably you need to clean the dust trapped in the laptop (trapped in the fans).

Oh shit, I just noticed this. USPS ban lithium-ion batteries......
http://www.geekosystem.com/usps-lithium-battery-ban/

So, which courier service are you guys using now to ship from U.S. to Malaysia? UPS? Fedex? DHL?
Do they provide tracking system? And how much does it differ from the old USPS?
*
in my opinion, they should provide tracking system worldwide, unless you're using a local US-based courier service. USPS is the equivalent of POS Malaysia actually.

FN+5 is for the 9 series, or 8 series as well? (How come I didn't notice in the manual for my 8130 hahaha)
