Clevo is the OEM,
Sager rebadged those notebook..

Is not OEM. is ODM. Original Design Manufacturer.

Clevo is a barebone builder or ODM. In a way to describe will be, they fix up most part of the mainboards and sell it to big brands to let them fix up their own laptops.
Clevo do build their own models and sell it.

Sager uses Clevo barebones.

I believe it's old model. You may choose the newer model.

owh I see... Thanks for noting that out.

Just a general question, when you guys look for a gaming laptop, what comes to mind as of most importance other than its GPU? Is it necessary to have like 8GB ram or 1TB hard disk?

4GB + GTX460m is good enough for normal gaming. Got extra funds, add SSD. If you want to avoid DDR3 ram going up, you can add 8GB or even 16gb in there. biggrin.gif

any processor, any graphics can do good gaming, as long as you don't set the game settings to extreme which is beyond the graphics card capability. biggrin.gif

You can ask us at anytime you like. But since you're in australia, you may ask the user This is a Lamp for better recommendation. He's living in Australia at this time. smile.gif

Thanks! Anyway, you reckon RM3500 can get a decent gaming lappy?

note: im on the assumption that if a lappy can game, it can do pretty much most demanding things (i could be terribly wrong tho).

This would be true to quite a extent. In the sense that 3D games require substantial amount of CPU and GPU processing power.

For processor, get at least a i7-2630QM which is a 2nd Generation Core Quad-Core processor aka Sandy Bridge. This is the lowest end of quad core offerings.

Next, if you are planning to use Windows 7 64-bit, try getting a 8GB ram which is 2x 4GB. This is the most value for money ratio now.

Next is GPU. Since Sager has a few different offerings,

AMD 6970M - most powerful and best value-to-performance ratio. (Which is the around the same performance as Nvidia flagship model 485M)
Nvidia 460M - next in-line for performance, not too ex and performance not too shaby. There may be a update to this model soon. Now is probably NDA.
Nvidia 555M - Latest offering for Nvidia Optimus Technology, really average performance though. I dun really understand why Alienware/Dell deems as powerful GPU.

HDD wise, get a 500GB 7200RPM for normal usage. SSD if u really have to money to spare.
