This is a Lamp: saw ur review... awesome stuff... Question: When it comes to these kind of lappy - Clevo/Sager/Dreambook, how does their body (exterior) compare to normal laptops (dell, acer, asus and such)? |

If you guys were to be on a tight budget - say MAX RM3500... What would the recommended specs be? (ie. what would you compromise on?)

QUOTE(Mikeshashimi @ May 19 2011, 09:37 PM) cryogenist: thanks! If i am correct, clevo, sager, dreambook all uses aluminum brush exterior to dissipate heat compare to other brand tat uses plastic and feel very hot while running heavy application. This is a Lamp: saw ur review... awesome stuff... Question: When it comes to these kind of lappy - Clevo/Sager/Dreambook, how does their body (exterior) compare to normal laptops (dell, acer, asus and such)? |

Woohoo, new thread!!
@Mikeshashimi Actually, if possible, top up another RM 500 to RM 4000 to get the Sager NP8130. It comes with Geforce GTX 460m and dedicated fan for the GPU. To be frank, until now, you can't find any laptop with that price which comes with a dedicated GPU fan. Of course if really really budget is a concern, around RM 3500, I would say try to get the Sager NP5165, it actually makes not much difference than a Dell XPS. Sager NP5165's fan is shared between the CPU and GPU, just like most of the laptop do. I won't say they are gaming laptop, because a real gaming laptop should have a dedicated fan for the GPU. And I did look into the Dell XPS interior design, there are 2 fans actually but the other one is a very very small fan which I don't think it helps a lot. Trust me, Sager NP8130 is the cheapest gaming laptop you can find. GTX 460m is better than GT 555m. Sager NP8130 might not have a good exterior design but the interior is well designed. One thing that you should bear in mind that the beauty of Sager is that most of the laptop parts are easily accessible, even the fans also can be easily accessed, which means you can clean the fans easily. You can hardly find any laptop that allows you to access the fans in the laptop easily. Not even Dell XPS can do that. :] Not to consider the exterior of the laptop but if you compare the interior (hardware), I dare enough to say that Sager NP8130 can beat Alienware M15X-R2. Sager NP8130 vs Alienware M15X-R2 Processor in NP8130 (i7-2630m) beats processor in M15X-R2 (i7-740m) GPU in NP8130 (GTX 460m) beats GPU in M15X-R2 (AMD HD5850m) Price of Sager NP8130 is around RM4000 +/-, price of Alienware M15X-R2 is close to RM6000.
