any owner that has the car more than 6 months?

anything to complain, or anything that you feel regretted?

My only regret is that it doesn't come with the latest 2.0 turbo engine...

Well, if I ever find out that the turbo version is running the same gearbox, I just might do it lol... I'm only worried about the gearbox. A little positive boost won't hurt the engine smile.gif

Got K5 turbo and Sonata turbo. Rumours of a turboed Forte have been going around but I doubt the local distris will do the right thing lol...

i asssumed that since the max in rpm was at 8k i could go at least close to it maybe up to 7 or so at least till i can decide to shift again...that way it will serve its purpose to use the pedal shift.but then again ur right i guess the max is already felt at 6k rpm...reason why im asking this is because i used cars that could rev up to redline (8k/9k rpm) and tot that that car had some prob thats y wanted to know more abt it...  rclxub.gif
*
I think the 8k rpm indication is there so you will know when you've KO-ed your engine lol... Prolly won't happen, ECU won't let it.

Paddle shift is so that you can control the gears when negotiating a tight corner or in stop/start situations where you don't want the GB to change up. Depending on the throttle position, the ECU will tell the GB to change gears at the programmed rpm to either cruise, maximise economy or maximise pickup.

No point in over-revving when the engine has already passed its peak horsepower. Also, revving too high will cause valve float and may cause misfiring. If you really want, suggest to find someone to reflash the OEM ECU. Custom reflash is always better than aftermarket chips (which are near impossible to find for this car at the moment anyway). Every car is different, a generic chip won't be able to unleash as much power as an experienced tuner can.

IMO it is better to tune the car for higher torque across the rev range rather than trying to raise peak horsepower. For that, first you will need to do up the intake, header and exhaust (I/H/E). Then beef up the electricals (VS, grounding, alternator). Once you've done all that, send your car for a custom reflash.

I'm still deciding whether to go for 1.6SX or 2.0SX.

... wondering if the extras worth 12k difference or not (= 150 monthly for 7 years 90% loan)
*
Everytime you kena cucuk by Fiesta S, Civic 1.8, Altis 1.8, Camry 2.0/2.4, Accord 2.0/2.4, Sonata 2.0/2.4, Saga FL 1.6, Satria Neo CPS, Mazda 3 2.0, Mazda 6 2.0/2.5 etc, you'll be asking yourself, "Why didn't I pay that extra RM150 per month?" Why? Why? Why? cry.gif

OTOH, everytime you pump petrol, pay your road tax and insurance, you will be thinking, "Lucky I didn't buy the 2.0 haha!". I got almost every gadget that the 2.0 has anyway...

To me..i prefer 2.0 over 1.6 not bcoz of kena cucuk by others car or want to race...it is really usefull when you want to overtaking especially on single lane road...and off course u will get KEPUASAN when u drive bigger cc car....for the extra +_ rm13000 from 1.6 to 2.0 is really worth the money....you can compare honda civic price between 1.8 and 2.0...more than rm13000 for 200cc extra...
*
Actually the price diff between Civic 1.8S, 1.8L and 2.0S is between 11 and 16k (9% to 13.4%) depending on trim level. Between the Forte EX, SX and 2.0 SX, the diff is between 12 and 19k (14% to 24%).

Not trying to burst the 2.0's bubble (I'm driving one lol) but from the above, when taken from a percentage difference point of view, it does seem that the Forte's percentage difference is higher sad.gif

Let's put it this way:

Car: Kia Forte 2.0SX
Price: RM97,800
Road tax: RM380
Insurance: RM1,258.25 (with 55% NCD)
FC: 8-11 litres/100km
Satisfaction of owning a 2-litre C-segment with many bells and whistles: PRICELESS thumbup.gif

hi guys,

ex vs sx..

-auto fold mirror
-reverse camera
-push start button
-paddle shift
-extra back sensor

are these the difference?
is it worth it if i want to keep my monthly installment lower?
i am interested in first 2 item only actually.
*
Got summore:

-Bluetooth
-17" wheels
-Steering audio controls

If you're buying a Forte, you won't go wrong with the SX. The things you mentioned above, almost all can't be changed aftermarket. Even if you did, won't have the same OEM quality and feel lol... So think twice before going for EX. The difference in price between EX and SX is not as great as between SX and 2.0SX.

The things I feel are really worth it are (in order of importance):

-Push start button (you haven't used it you won't realize how useful it is, but once you've had it you will hate keys lol)
-Reverse camera on the rear view mirror
-Bluetooth
-Steering audio controls
-Paddle shift
-Folding mirrors

All the above will spoil you for your next car purchase lol...

thanks, for very good advice bro..
can i change/is it good to change the rim to 16" or 15"? 17 sure expensive right?
is forte too big to drive? i live in congested area, scare if it is difficult to park, drive when ppl parks or blocks here and there.
*
Well, it's not that hard to maneuver. But don't take it from me cos I've been used to driving longer cars lol... The reverse camera helps a lot, so do the four rear sensors.

Actually, nowadays the tyre prices between 16 and 17 are lebih kurang or LPPL. 15 will be cheaper, but will look ugly cos the Forte's tyre well is huge-mongous! It will swallow your 15" like nothing hehehe...

16" is a good compromise, but not easy to find nice 16" rims with 5 holes PCD 114.3 ET 48. Unless you can get hold of a used set of Civic 2.0 first batch, those 16" Enkei rims are nais but very rare. Or if you can find any EX owner willing to swap then good la.

I'm still in dilemma whether to opt for 1.6SX or 2.0SX

Better FC + Monthly installment RM200 lesser vs 2.0 THETA II Engine(more powerful) + 6 Air bags + Leather Seats + etc?
*
The FC issue needs to be looked at more objectively. Let's consider the following:

1.6SX - Between 7-9l/100km average
2.0SX - Betweeen 9-11l/100km average

So the difference, per full tank, is between 2-4l/100km. Usually, most ppl fill up when the tank is near empty or around 400++ km mileage. So in terms of per full tank, the diff is:

(400km / 100km) x 2 = 8 litres, or RM15.20 per tank, OR

(400km / 100km) x 4 = 16 litres, or RM30.40 per tank.

But honestly, there is one point I'd like to throw in favor of the 1.6SX. The seats! I find the 1.6SX's velour seat (driver's side) has better support for my butt (better bucket design) than the 2.0's leather seat.

*
Surprisingly, silver is also a nice colour for the Forte. Met up with a friend who recently bought a 2.0 SX silver w BK. IMO silver is nice on the Forte because of its sharp lines. Easier (a bit) to maintain than white. White colour, if you malas to take care, habis. Sorry to say, but a white car that is not well cared for looks like sh1t...lol

Auto Foam vs Similar Foam - part 3

Sorry bro, what rubbish vids are these? Trying to do a Mr Bean's holiday kind of vid? Also, in the third vid, there's clearly a bias in terms of poking the two diff foams. You can see that Mr Bean clearly uses more force when poking the second bottle, hence more compression (until at one point the bottle terpelanting also!).

So what's your point?

how to make sure the white color will not become yellowish like some other cars?
*
1) Try not to park outdoors

2) Try to get your car protected regularly with a nano coating product like Permanon

3) Wash your car religiously, especially during rainy season

4) After rain or driving through rain, as soon as possible get a bucket of water and pour it on your car to get rid of the rain water and whatever road spray that is on your car. Rain water and road spray is very acidic

5) Pray hard everyday and have sleepless nights, always thinking about how to maintain whitey smile.gif

how much is Permanon ? What is exactly did u mean by regulary? 3x month?
*
Permanon is around RM88. Not 3x per month, but more like 3 months once smile.gif

Or you could get Sierra Glow / PPS / Itisbond etc. Range between RM700-1,200. Supposed to last a few years.

I would prefer Permanon cos I can top up the coating anytime on my own. It's supposed to last 6 months, but I think 3 months will be better if you really sayang your car. Takes less than 20 mins to coat the car. Senang aje smile.gif

EH Boss, business bagus kah?
Haha, guys ~ this is the best SA i ever meet !

If u interested, can PM him for promotion, ask him give discount gao gao  thumbup.gif
K1? never heard of this b4, maybe others can advice you on this,
anyway:
(1) Logistic Problem
(2) Custom Server down
These are the 2 common & famous 'excuse' that use by many irresponsible SA out there
Just read & heard many of similar case like you before...
Anyway, since you ady place ur booking & paid DP,
so i guess the only thing you can do is WAIT.

Or, you may try to take some action:
(1) Call NAZA HQ and make complaint
or
(2) Ask fro refund of ur deposit & place ur order at other branch

by the way, where you place ur order ?
Cheers
*
At the end of the day, just bear in mind that SAs are selling cars to cari makan only, if they don't deliver the car to you he/she won't get their comm, so there's no reason why they would want to sengaja hold back the delivery, right?

From what I hear, the Forte 1.6 is very laku until stocks are snapped up very quickly. Different branches have different allocations, dunno how they do it la. Anyhow, to the person who brought this question up, hope you can be patient. I know for a fact that SAs get paid peanuts in terms of salary, relying mostly on comms to survive. So if they don't get the cars to their customers asap, it's not just a matter of inconvenience, it's a matter of whether or not they will have money to pay rent or put food on the table.

In other words, if you think the waiting is suffering, it's even more suffering for the SAs smile.gif

My dua sen je, jgn marah ok?

Yeap, I understand what you trying to say,
But if u read his post carefully,
He not just paid the booking fees only,
But even signed the loan agreement & PAID the down payment. So I guess that SA got his commission ady no?
Anyway, for my own case, when I make the booking, SA told me will deliver my car within 2 weeks,
And he DID delivered what he promised to me.
For me, I prefer SA who tell me the truth up front,
rather than those who keep saying those sweet talk and later after settle the loan DP, he suddenly change 180 degree and lots of excuses given everyday smile.gif

I'm just sharing with that member that "custom issue" is a very common tactic that use by most car SA, and 1 thing I find that SA is not sincere because Forte is now fully local assembled, why is there anymore issue with custom? lol

Lastly, since he ady paid the DP, so I did ask him to WAIT, if he can't tolerate with it, then only go complaint or ask for refund lor smile.gif
My 2 cent
Cheers
*
Actually, from my understanding, the SA only gets his/her comm upon delivery of the car, since comm is paid only after the bank disburses the funds to the company.

No worries bro, not trying to rebuke you but merely trying to share what I learnt from my dealings with SAs over the years. I do take the trouble to get to know them on a slightly deeper level so that they treat me as a client and friend too. Sometimes, the soft approach works too smile.gif

Like you, I also got my Forte within two weeks (around 10 days). My SAs a nice fella. Anyone who's looking for a car let me know and I'll pass on the contact. And you know what's the best part? He's a Peugeot SA lol...
