tested and found good. much better than skype in terms of connectivity and voice quality.

on iphone3/4 - giving yourself alternative 018 number(yes). eg, 012 is your main number, then 018 is your second number.
putting case:
if incoming call to 012 then u get no extra charge.
if incoming call to 018 then
(a)if u were connected to wifi(streamyx at home, office, public place) then no extra charge.
(b)if you were connected to your 3g network operator then minimal data charge apply cuz u have 1gb-3gb data plan. u wont see the charge (just like browsed a few google pages. if long call then maybe 1youtube clip?)

on ipad1/2, ipod - enabling your device to make voice call and send texts.

018 to any malaysian mobile and fixed numbers - voice/sms: RM0.09
018 to any international mobile & fixed numbers - voice/sms: check their website for rating list. (i saw some charge as low as RM 0.09)

just sharing my experience, hope it helps.

My current subscription with Digi Smartplan is not that good recently.. The speed is too slow at times sad.gif I'm spending Rm68 per month

Yes, at the moment, if I'm outside my house, I will be using my N8 as a hotspot for surfing the net.. But it would be nice to spend Rm68 per month as my data plan for iPad 2 using Yes smile.gif I heard the speed is very good

if u buy the huddle set (rm450 = rm100 credit inside), it's actually worth it.
just use the huddle's internet to use the yes life app.
they don't charge a thing when u use yes life with YES 4G connection (except for calls and sms made)

means its an unnecessary app? hmm.gif

I use my earphone with mic on my ipad..work very well.

But this yeslife app wont rotate if u rotate the ipad..i think this is a error in the app.

Also, i m using Buzz at this moment. Whenever i log into yeslife in ipad, my Buzz connection will be terminated. Meaning that we can only log in either Buzz or ipad/iphone at one time.

Also it will not sync my contact fr my Buzz. But yeslife in windows will sync whatever contact i updated in Buzz.

Wonder when a android version yeslife will be available?

Also, actually i quite dont understand why we need 2 number in the iphone? It is really cheaper to make a call with YES? Somemore we need to pay for the 3g data.

actually, i am just wondering the same thing too....

for ipad 2 we have simcard to enable the 3g connection anywhere....
meaning i will have to pay for both 3g & yeslife every month?
aiyaaa... i'm not that rich la >___< doh.gif

i'm still considering if i should continue using this service after it has expired rclxub.gif which i do not think so~?

u r right.... think need to pay for both YES and your carrier 3G costs...
this package is not so much for 3G units, its more for wi-fi units (coupled with their huddle)
if looking at costs, it is the same, ipad package for maxis is RM70 for 3.5GB data whereas for YES its RM68 for their valuepack for 3.5GB data also
the only difference is 1 is 3G and the other 4G

to me all gimmick ler...and dun forget, for YES coverage is an issue at the moment....

but for light users, YES would be good as it calc costs based on usage and not plan...

do you have to keep the app open in order to receive calls? would you still be able to receive calls after you closed the apps?

either way, i would still keep my good old traditional mobile phone by my side rather than relying to tally on 1 single device. i used to do that and i was f*cked when a sudden emergency happened.

I'm actually 1 of the YES dealer previously and i stopped selling it since there's many issue.....
For your question, Last time RM 30 = 1 month/30 Days. (RM 1 per day) if you didn't use.
Now i dont know if it's still the same.

Credit wont expire but 1 day burn RM1 if you dont use. IF you got RM200 and you dont use in 1 month, they will burn RM30 and carry forward RM170 to the next month

this is true coz i'm one of the YES user too. If you have RM360 credit in your account, then even if u dont use it, by end of the year, the credit will be 0 coz their system will deduct RM30 monthly to stay active...

if heavy user, i would suggest to get the YES Plan with RM68 monthly but ofcoz u need to get the YES HUddle..once u say YES, you will never say NO. A very satisfy customer here with the speed...

Actually for heavy user...... The time i'm selling YES they doesn't have the RM68 plan yet. so it's like RM 30 = 1GB.
My monthly usage 80GB/month = RM2.5k++/month

Now they have RM68 plan but i doubt if can be cheaper like Unifi.....

About the speed... YES!!! i tested on my Outlet last time and can reach 16.53Mbps Download speed

I tried connecting my 2 of my bluetooth headset and although shown as connected, none of the bluetooth can be used making / receive calls with YES.

Apple really put a lot of restriction on the Bluetooth function on iPad.
Can't transfer photos and make calls... sad.gif

80GB eh? Wow. Stick with Unifi bro smile.gif

In a nutshell, we shouldn't be comparing a static wired network with one that is wireless. Obviously it wouldn't be fair. Fibre is fibre, it will give you the best bang for buck and performance. However, for nomadic execs like me, YES 4G is awesome not only because of sustained high speeds and improving coverage, but also I think the one ID for multiple devices is very innovative. Also we're not bound be SIMs and we only have 1 bill to pay. I am contemplating downgrading my Maxis plan right now as I'm so spoiled by YES with the speeds. With the 150 Value Pack, I get instant rebates and I find that works well for me. I have a Huddle, Go and Buzz phone.

For the record, all YES accounts valid for 30 days if you don't reload. For the trial pack, that's 14 days. Just to clear things up smile.gif

More exciting things coming from YES and it will only get better. I can't wait for the Android smartphone that they've been working on. This will come in August. Also YES Life for Android is in the works too!

Same problem here...especially receiving call. I get "call rejected" when i try to call my yes number using my maxis line. But after restart the yeslife, the problem solve. But it comes back again after a while...someone got the same problem?

Added on May 13, 2011, 3:29 pmActually is there any real advantage to use the yeslife in a 3g device, either a iphone/ipad or a android phone? Cost? To use yeslife in a wifi only device is more reasonable, especially if we get the huddle. But the problem is huddle battery life is very short, normally 2-3 hours only. Somemore need to carry an extra device. I think this yeslife in iphone/ipad or android phone is only a temporary solution to attract more customers, the real thing will come after yes launch their own android phone, which i think can be use to replace the huddle as well. Currently the buzz is not bad, only the design is abit outdated that wont attract any youngster to buy it. Coverage to me is ok, i work at bukit bintang n stay in bukit jalil, so no problem to me. Only problem is when i travel in SMART tunnel.

Yes 4G is prepaid based and it is similar to a pay-as-you-use service. Based on my recent calculations, RM30 is equivalent to about 1GB of data. Once you hit about 1GB, you will run out of credits and therefore you'll have to reload in order to continue using again.

However there's a value pack that Yes recently launched. The cheapest value pack is the RM68 pack where you will be given 3.5GB of data usage, quite worth it if you will use more than 1GB. biggrin.gif

A bit noob here. Not quite sure how this will work... If I keep my Yes I'd, how to make call on my phone? No need SIM card... must be in wifi area then oni can make call? Can use Yes with normal phone? Or must buy special 4G phone?

Tried this on my IPad2. Calls connect quickly, and voice quite clear, so I'm interested to see if this will better than maxis phone+data plan.

To make calls, either your iPad or iPod Touch must be connected to a WiFi service or if your iPad is the 3G version, as long you remain connected you can make calls via Yes Life. Otherwise, you will need their Yes 4G phone.

I travel overseas quite a bit. If this works, it will work well for me.

I will divert my primary mobile number to the Yes Life, so incoming calls are free. I can call out with this so it's a local call.

I just need to register or buy a prepaid 3G data sim card when I am overseas.

Guys there seems to be some unclear things here. Yes 4G is simless. There is no SIM for any YES device. If u were to use to Yes network and services, all u need is a Yes ID which also comes with 018 number.

Yep, the only thing that's troublesome is that most phones are not 4G phones, so to connect to Yes network without using wifi, need to either get the huddle or get a 4G phone.

for RM50 credit, it will only last u 2 month max for usage and further 3 month to keep ur account active...coz end of first month, system will automatically deduct RM30 from your RM50 credit even when u only use RM20...and end of the second month, system will automatically deduct ur remaining credit available unless u utilise it before end of 2nd month...

if you're a light user, just pay RM360 advance and it'll make sure u at least a year of connection active..problem solve...

Tested it for 1 day.

Phone calls don't always come through to me. some of my sms'es also don't get through to the other person.

In my opinion, it's not good enough as a primary phone. It is stupid to pay RM 30 monthly for this service. YTL will be stupid to insist on a monthly commitment since it's a good service, just not good enough yet.

I installed it on my ipad2 and ipod 4g ( Look Mana, i turned ipod to iphone4 lol brows.gif ) since the announcement date and tested many calls. Below is my review.

1. Call quality was choppy and slightly delayed on streamyx 1mb line. I can hear the voice clearly from the person i called who was using standard Malaysian mobile and fixed line but he can't really comprehend my breaking conversation. Often times I need to repeat 2 to 3 times to make myself clear. Thus the 9 sen per min call rates needs to x 2 times too sometimes sweat.gif .

2. Almost the same features as Skype pay as you go plan but YES offers cheaper call rate for Malaysia mobile lines. Comparison between Skype mobile and Yes iOS as below.
2.1 The call rates for skype r approx 8sen for fixed line and 21sen for mobile. A one time connection fee of 13.5sen applies. YES win in call rates
2.2 Skype credit has no expiry if you use it once every 180days. YES need minimum usage of RM30/mth. Skype win in credit validity.
2.3 Skype account never self terminated due to inactivity, YES will, if we fail to top up RM30 every month.
2.4 Skype doesn't provide Malaysian local number, YES gives 018 number. YES win in incoming call capability.
2.5 Skype is multi platforms ie iOS, Android, Symbian, Window whereas YES only iOS and Window.
2.6 Skype needs cerdit card and debit card to buy whereas YES can accept cash, M2U, credit card, debit card.

3. For most users, one can hardly fully utilized the 018 incoming call phone number due to the fact that we can't online 24/7.

4. Good for calling home from overseas provided that you have Internet access.

5. I'm not very optimistic to use it as an incoming call option when traveling overseas simply because who and when will call me at what time is beyond my control and i can't always be in the wifi range to standby. Also for the fact that most of my customers will continue to call me at my primary phone number.

The conclusion.
Well, the biggest drawback is the rm30 minimum monthly usage, otherwise it can be the good alternative to Skype pay as you go or a cheaper alternative for outgoing voice call and sms.
If you are an exiting YES wimax user for its mobile internet service (me too), by all means why not ?

Hmm...Shouldn't they just sell the account (for cheaper price) , RM 360 is overkill, comparing that Digi and Hotlink actually allow us to pay RM 30 for whole year active service.

Plus Sarawak still no YES yet sad.gif

I would say YES life for iOS is never intended for conventional GSM mobile prepaid market. It is more like value added feature for its existing mobile internet customers.

my understanding..... what it mean is that no matter what, you acct will be deducted minimum RM30 on a monthly basis
if you use more that RM30, then they will charge accordingly
if your account is less than RM30 credit, then need to top up to ensure your acct have minimum RM30 to remain active

for more affirmative answer, better u go ask CS.
I m still considering whether to go for 4G, or stick to current 3G

Does the sms work now? I can receive but cannot send.

And for phone calls, calling out is normally not a problem, but receiving calls sometimes don't work. Cialat man.. how to rely on it? Has it improved?

Also, someone told me there's no minimum spend per month and that's only for the 4G. Which website says that there's a RM 30 per month?

But this yeslife app wont rotate if u rotate the ipad..i think this is a error in the app.

Also, i m using Buzz at this moment. Whenever i log into yeslife in ipad, my Buzz connection will be terminated. Meaning that we can only log in either Buzz or ipad/iphone at one time.

Also it will not sync my contact fr my Buzz. But yeslife in windows will sync whatever contact i updated in Buzz.
*
NOTE if you use Yes on the Yes 4G network and use Yes life you are billed double 1 you are billed for the data of the yes life call with at 90 kps down and 90 kps up will add up fast. 2 you are billed for the call also. so if you are o the Yes 4G network it is NOT a good deal at all, this double pricing is NOT disclosed but I was told twice once at LOT 10 2nd floor and then by calling CS. The 4G is fast but a bit much if you use the Huddle for hotspot and use Yes Life app for iphone. 9 cents per min plus 9 cents per 3 MB not so cheap any more!!!

the data charged would be very minimal which could be only few bytes i think.
get a data meter and make a call. close all running background applications for accurate data collection.

Hi,

Anyone here who tried the yeslife during the promotional period (free RM5 credit)?

I did, and after the 2 weeks of free trial (sometime in June 2011), I received a phone call telling me that I need to top-up to continue using yeslife. I told the lady on the phone that I do not wish to continue using because of a few reasons. She said ok an then hung up. So I assumed that my account would be deactivated or deleted.

Today, I decided that I might want to use yeslife again, so I logged on to check my account. To my surprise, I could still log into my account. But when I had a look at the account summary, I was shocked to see that the balance was -RM88.96, meaning that I owe them money.

I emailed them, hoping to clarify this issue, but the reply I got was that there is a min. monthly charge of RM30. I was like WTF?!?! I didn't even use it after the 2 weeks. Also, the monthly statements were not sent to me. How would I know the account is still active. Also, there is NO option to cancel/close account in the "My Account" page.

At the moment I am still waiting for their reply.

I would suggest that those who have tried yeslife to try to log on to their account at www.yes.com.my and check their account balance.
