how much is your budget? if you're not into spirited driving, falken ze912, yokohama a.drive or continental conti comfort 5 might fit your bill.

smallest f1 asymmetric is 17". price started from 480(last year).
15" only available in the form of f1 gsd3 which is a lot more noisier. price start from 260 for 195/55/r15.

dueler of h/t variant usually projected a noisier characteristic compare to h/l ecopia or alenza.
you may check from bridgestone dealer.
also, simple tips for quieter tires ; just avoid those rough or deep / directional tread.

QUOTE(Andy0625 @ Jun 12 2011, 04:25 PM)
i would like to ask, is there any UHP tire below the price range of 320 for 16" or 17" ? planning to change my tire and change my waja stock rim aswell, but not sure should change to 16" with a not so good tire or light weight 15" + PS3 all 4 donuts.

but 15" on waja doesn't look nice at all.

please share some light.
*
your suspension is still stock? either way, you could go for 205/50/r16 or 205/45/r16.
16" with profile 55 is too thick there will be a noticeable compromise in speedo reading and overall performance.
i already try lightweight 15". does not help much in handling. car does not feel 'planted'.
unless you're going for slight offset of 205/50 or 55/r15.
last time with lower suspension, i was running on 205/50/r15. make sure to get at least 7jj and not 6.5jj of 15" wheels.
try refurbished 16" wheels with s1evo or v12. budget tires like ecsta ku-36 is quite okay too.

QUOTE(ZeroSP @ Jun 12 2011, 10:32 PM)
Is there any recommendation for something like the AD07/AD08 but not so pricey?

Currently on PS3... Tried many others like AD07, AD048, R888, RE070... But all just pricey, except for R888 still acceptable pricing range.
*
can't compare semi slick tires with super street tires.
re001 or s1evo is decent enough. or f1 asymmetric. at least they're better in wet than semi slick r888.
have you try semi slick r1r?

QUOTE(fazron80 @ Jun 12 2011, 11:41 PM)
Re001 at 16 inch? Good luck finding at price 320 shocking.gif  .  Try Yoko A drive R1. Performance should be enough if money is tight. Or just revert back to 15 inch to get lower price for UHP tyres. Find lowered sport springs to reduce the gap.
*
a drive.r1 is a beginner's tires. but should be okay for not so spirited driving style.
suspension thing is not as easy as changing to sport spring for better look. both spring and suspension need to change at once. else, stock suspension will gone in a few months or so. saved the alignment cost.

ZeroSP@
s1evo's overall performance is almost comparable to re001. with re001 more 'planted' in wet and also has harder sidewall.
bonus ; s1evo return a better tread wear rating. sidewall not as hard as re001 thus gives a more comfortable ride.
ps3 is fine but the sidewall is a letdown. pumping higher does help marginally.

boonykun@
regarding on the ps3, it was caused by your waja bad alignment and not the tires.
btw, tires price already up a few times last year. so, its normal for michellin to be expensive.

advanced@
any michellin range is fine for 14". just stay away from silverstone m series. no grip in wet.
also, nct5 is not advisable due to weak upper sidewall and loss of grip at 60% tread wear.

vince_teh@
michellin ps3 is fine. so does hankook v12, yokohama c.drive, bridgestone playz or falken 912. much depend on your budget and driving preference. for comfort and relax ride, continental comfort 5 and a.drive is okay.

huh! i thought i already gave my feedback on this tires a few post back. that time, 205/45/16 still cost around 230 each. were your fm901 is made in indonesia with 220 tread wear rating?
wait till the tiny tread line gone and it will be one of the noisiest tires around especially when speed is over 90km/h.
due to the wheels protector pattern, the tires is wider than other brand of similar size. if your manufacturer recommendation is 210 kpa or so, make sure to pump at least 10 -25kpa higher. high tendency of sidewall flex and
easily return a floating' feel in high speed / wet.
then again, its okay for not so spirited driving style. and directional tread looks nice too.

looks like 195/55/15 is your best choice. changing to 195/50/15 is already more than 4% from the stock
tires. too much compromise in performance. but your fc might be better thou. also, 195 width will give more traction compare to 185. just make sure your stock rim is at least of 6jj.
sidewall thickness does not effect the ride comfort as much as the sidewall propriety.

yan5619@
what is your driving style / preference?
since you always on the road, standard choice is continental comfort 5 or yokohama a.drive which is more of a comfort and less noise.
if you're really on budget, there are achilles atr sports with 400 tread wear rating.
as usual, for comfort tires, there are some compromise in performance but their tread usually rated higher than those of performance orientated tires.

yan5619@
are you on stock 185 width tires? if so, increasing it to 195 with 55 profile or even 205/45/16 might help.
check out tires conversion calculator in my 1st post.
also, changing to better suspension will definitely improves the handling. as usual, you can't have both so,
choose either handling or comfort.
btw, depend on your size, but 200 bucks is quite on the cheap side.
you could up your budget and try ps3. 15" is about 250 each or so.

Happyman@"
1. Falken FK452 - good grip and aqua planning resistance but tend to be noisy when tires tread wear out progressively.
2. Michelin PS3 - best bang for bucks. good dry and wet grip. but sidewall a tad softer for touge'.
3. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric - very promising but a friend of mine had his f1 asy's sidewall cracked due to
too much abuse. guess it's not the tires fault thou...

if you don't push hard in corner, ps3 is the best choice. quite comfort and quiet with better grip too. not to mentioned
it has the highest tread wear which in turn made is last longer than the other 2.

liwyt@
s.drive is fine.
toyo t1r's tread is too soft. conti sports 2 sux' in wet braking.
other alternative is s1evo. if you're tight on budget, hankook v12 is worth a look.

yan5619@
ps3's of 195/55/15 used to be around 250 bucks apiece.
maybe you can try tek ming in sunway. they do have more variety in stock.

Happyman@
thailand made ps3 is find. in fact it suit our tropical climate better than those made in balkan countries.

noisetrigger@
a.drive r1 is a beginners' tires but quite okay for the price. at least it wasn't as noisy as fm901.
could last for 30k or more. but 195/50/16 is quite an odd size. hankook's s1evo and v12, also kumho ecsta series is worth looking at. provided that they have those size.

liwyt@
you can't go wrong with the 3 choices. off the 3, i will pick s.drive anytime.
re001 is just too hard for daily ride.

redesigned asymmetric tread pattern but still maintain the 4 grooves with all 4 almost equal in depth and width for better water dissipation / wet braking.
being a tad lighter than gy asymmetric may help too.
am actually looking forward to re002. some tread pattern was carried from the playz series thou.

the gap between the upper fender and the tires does not matter much. you may have about 50mm 'gap to play' with, but there could be a lot lesser on the inner fender, thus, touching the upper part of the tires
during heavy load or going over speed bump.
also, make sure the tires does not touch the inside part of the fender during full steering turn.
what is your ride?

Thanks for the idea but I'm afraid it couldn't fit at front because the front fender gap not that wide...nicely fitted with 16" 45....
Thanks for ur advice...it's just hyundai getz 2005 (not inokom)...
Wow thank you...what a relieve...I have another question...let's say my tyre got "benjol"...is it safe for long journey?will it going to explode?
*
if you're on 205/45/16, stick with it. there are far more choices with that size compare to 205/50/16.
instead of changing the tires, you may play around with suspension to increase handling and looks.
btw, it's not advisable to go for long journey with bulging tires. do not risk your life.

how much is your budget?
not too sure about alza but if you want comfort, the stock tyre / suspension setting is the best.
205/45/16 might be okay for the looks but make sure to choose a tyre with less stiffer sidewall.
as mentioned, xm2 might fit your bill. else, yokohama a.drive or continental comfort 5 for relax mood.

BryantNg@
250 budget range is too low for a 17". you may end up getting lousy tyre tongue.gif
even the achilles atr sports might not fit into your budget.

dARKaNGEl@
xm2 is newer than lc. hence, xm2 should be a better buy mainly due to the improves grip.

fazron80@
much depend on your ride. performance cars does not use identical size to compromise on weight , power
distribution and handling.
while standard sedan car usually use an identical size on 4 side!
either way, if it was the fwd, to compensate for the differences in performance and speedo reading,
you could use one with minimal different on front and another size on rear.
in my case, am using 225/45/17 front and 235/45/17(spacer) rear. but mine was rwd, anyway.
more for handling but make sure to keep an eye on alignment / uneven tyre wear..

btw, you may not have the luxury of being able to rotate the tyres.

should be okay with 205/50/16. provided the suspension is not worn out.
as usual, some compromise in speedo reading / overall performance.

reef_d@
sharing your waja's donut with your neo? tongue.gif
195/50/16 is almost as rare as 205/50/16. ze-912 is decent but not sure if they carry the size.
for comfort ride, you can try yokohama range of a.drive.

if you trash both tyres, v12 will beat the v8 anyday! brows.gif

btw, i don't have the gps coordination but it's located at seksyen 1 bangi. one with hankook board,
not the continental / sime or something.
landmark ; near the petronas jalan 1/1 from the highway(kl-bangi direction).
there is a shell station further up.
i use to get a used tyres from them for drift session in serdang.

not really familiar with bangi but if you come from kl nse via sungai besi toll plaza entering bangi toll plaza and passed the 2 roundabout to bandar baru bangi market, the tyres shop is on the right side.
else, try this

GKWong@
D01's compound is just too hard the tread will last for years. i guess it was more suitable for rough asphalt and gravel road in east malaysia.
for that price, can't complaint much. perhaps, wait till the tyres fully run-in and see how its perform.
btw, are you driving a hatchback?
