Hi peeps, went to test drive the iconia tab today.. Everything seems ok but when I ask the brother there regarding accessibilty with ext hdd he says that only reading certain files is ok.. Writing is not possible and only certain files can be saved.. True?

After using my iconia for a couple days, I have start to notice some bugs in honeycomb. Random reboot, screen auto on for no reason, battery icon stuck on charging when it is not. Definately a 1.0 version of the OS.Half the apps in market cannot download. Same with applanet. Might have to hard reset the device.

Thinking of getting this case from Amazon, anyone here use this?

Some of my initial disappointment with the iconia : Not critical issues but just inconvenience

1. When connect to my MAC, it cannot be detected. All my other Androids no such issue and I don't even need to install any drivers
Anyway I connect it to Windows 7 on my MAC - need to install the drivers -  was OK BUT than noticed can only detect the internal flash 32GB memory but NOT the external micro SD. Readup and noted Acer has yet to allow this function ?? Geez - my other Androids can detect both internal flash memory and external SD card, so files swapping is so convenient. Really hope Acer will correct this

2. Widgets application on homescreen - poor design - so troublesome need to scroll horizontally across the screens. I am too used to select widgets by just scrolling vertically up/down a listing which is so much easier and faster

3. Charging - the odd size G tip - till now I cannot find an alternative G tip same size so that I can use with my external battery ( it has most common sizes of all major notebooks but none of this iconia size ) - will try to look up for one in Spore tomorrow. It'd be better if the charging was thro' the micro USB - will have more flexibility in charging even in the car

4. Screen display is too bright even at a reduced brightness ; most of the time I tune it down right to the left

Other than these minor issues, overall I am very happy with it. The performance is very good with a  very smooth/slick UI. Didn't notice any laggy issues as reported by some. I'd say 99.9 % of all my apps on the Galaxy Tab/SGS II works without any issue on it - so this issue of HoneyComb being incompatible with Froyo smartphone apps is not an issue at all with me
So far only 3 apps slight problems mainly due to display too big for it

Sure why not ? I have 2 such units which I used for my smartphone/Windows notebooks but I still cannot find the same size G tip. These 2 battery packs comes with up to 8 types of tips but none of the iconia size. If these battery packs can charge a notebook , sure can charge the tablet

Ahh can iconia use usb internet dongle like Yes or maxis?

Same here, bought from Senq yesterday. Nice screen, a bit heavy compare to my brother Asus transformer which he bought from Taiwan. Browsing web a few ms slower compare to I pad, mostly because of flash plugin.  But the default android keyboard very very very slow. Very frustrating.

problem arise.. why i cant download most free apps from android market? like angry bird... it showed  "this item cant not be installed in your country." Anyone encounter this?

same here, although some apps can be installed without problem, even flash cannot be installed, i went download and install free apps (angry bird also) from http://www.freewarelovers.com/android/

BTW for those of you who are waiting for Asus Transformer because of the IPS panel, you would be disappointed. I have both and honestly, the screen is slightly better on my Iconia. The edges are better. The IPS panel is not like the IPad at all. I think its a low quality one. Thats what I've been reading about on the net. I don't know how to explain but believe me Iconia is better. Also in terms of speed and performance, Iconia is still way better than Xoom and Transformer. The Hnoeycomb feels like its faster on it. Just my $0.02.

I've tried the Flash games in FB and they were just fine. No noticeable lag whatsoever. Also the 3.1 update is coming soon, so for those of you who feel that there is a lag although i havent noticed any, the update should fix the "lag".

Got mine yesterday from Seng Heng, that's why I asked about the FW updates. Laggy replying in this forum lol and the market keeps saying cannot install in your country bah how long is this problem going to last? Does google acknowledge this?

unrooted my Iconia in hopes that I was able to receive the FOTA update that some people seemed to be getting but nada so far.
