No problem at all connecting wifi at home, even low signal still can browse. But in office, it keep saying "unable to join network" no matter how many times i key in the right password (MAC address is not blocked). Both locations use WEP key so i dont think its configuration/encryption issue. And my friends using ipad 1 & 2 has no problem in the office. I managed to login once in day but then just few seconds it disconnected.

Some forums i read suggest to restart ipad, reset, restore, update ios, even tweak some setting on the router etc. Have done everything (now ios 4.3.3), except configure modem/router because it belongs to the company, hotels and hospital.

Any one has this kind of problem? Its hard to send to service centre for this kind of problem, because if they run a test at their wifi spot, it could be ok. The problem only happen at my office. How..?

Have you tried to forget the network and try to connect again?

I've tried that before with my home wifi, keep getting the "unable to join network" prompt..

After that was able to connect and surf the web..

I sometimes had that problem too. Bt I think it's my hotspot problem not my iPad. If the line not stable also will occur this problem.

As for your problem, if you test at machine store A can then move on to machine store B until you can find 1 which will show out your problem then quickly exchange it there

Is your office router is old type a/g?

If dhcp connecting got problem, change it to static. Key in manually the ip n etc.

Normally it is compatible problem cause too many kind of router n age.

Might be possible it was one of your apps? Try clean install (like new ipad) and re test that..

Have your try connecting your iPad to other public wifi hotspots such as McDonald, Cafe's...and see whether you have problem like you stated at your office? If you have no problem with those wifi hotspots then there's no problem with your iPad, it's probably your company configuration that prevent your Mac address or ip to log into the Internet. You should refer to your network administrator to do the job then.
If the problem still the same with those public hotspots, try update to the latest FW 4.3.3(ATM) to try again and if it's still fail to retify the problem.....send it back for warranty.

Alot of times, it's the routers or the hotspot's problem.
I used to have this problem with my Linksys router and later on my stupid D-link Unifi router in my house. Will be able to connect for a few seconds/minutes, but will have no internet connection even though the wifi signal is on full.

But after changing to an Apple Airport Extreme, didn't have that problem anymore.

have tried with various hotspots (Coffee Bean, WirelessKL, Condominium lobby)... all no problem. Its just with my office. I have submit request to my office IT department to allow my mac address, and they have configured it. but still could not login. I have even argued badly saying they may have configured wrongly but they have double checked no problem. in fact, i managed to login for 1sec or 2 once in a day before losing the connection, showing that my mac address is allowed. already update to 4.3.3 from 4.3.1 (both same problem).

well, i guess i'm just unlucky. maybe my ipad not compatible with my office network hence i'll just use at home and hotspots (i'll envy with my officemates ipads though). this type of problem is difficult to claim warranty. however, i'm still satisfied with its wifi performance at other places, fast to connect and fast browsing. thumbup.gif

My Ipad2 also sometimes act crazy. It always connected but somehow unable to get IP from DHCP. Have to click renew lease a few times for it to connect properly. Router also play a role in its performance. Some router has wideband(40MHz mode) for 2.4GHz but many clients actually dont support this 40MHz mode.

Apple product somehow work better with another Apple product. I have a Time Capsule which I set to operate at 5GHz and connect with the Ipad2 quite well. I do feel Ipad2 WiFi signal left a lot to be desired. My HTC Legend which was supposely known for weak wireless managed to connect to my Dlink DIR655 while the Ipad2 failed. The distance is one story up nia.

Then there's nothing wrong with your iPad, just something to do with your company router restriction settings.

You try this see can or not.. in the wireless setting, change the Auto (20/40MHz) to 20MHz only.
If still have problem, change the channel manually.

I have sworn off all N routers. I have had 2 and in both instances they are the crappiest routers ever. I believe because it's still in draft form and not final yet, and that's why it's so unstable. Changed back to a Wireless G router and have not had a problem since with any of my Apple products.

Some free wifi hotspots need you to register in their hotspot page in order to connected to their server before using their free wifi services, MacDonald is one of them.

Some hotspot like wirelessKL, u need to register somewhere first at the website beforehand. then when you are at the wirelessKL spot, then u can use the login id. you cannot straightaway register at any wirelessKL spot. Coffee bean no problem, u can register on the spot.

I have just encountered a similar problem, whereby my iPad 2 would occasionally drop the wi-fi connection, and is unable to reconnect. After confirming that the router is ok, and that the problem lies with the iPad 2, I did a quick google search. Turns out that this is a very common issue:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/278029...tart=0&tstart=0

One workaround is to set a static IP address for iPad 2, but it means that it's going to be difficult to access public wi-fi. Seriously hope Apple is looking into this.
