hello, i'm new to this section and this website. i am currently debunking the PCB of an Altec Lansing VS2621, or at least what is remaining of it...

i have the main subwoofer but i don't have the 2 speakers. i had it because the composite connector was broken and speakers were stolen. the guy let it to me because otherwise he would throw it away.

Though, i know nearly why each component's role is done for.

if anyone needs the schematic, i have it.
v1 : Attached File  alteclansing_vs2621.pdf ( 47.77k ) Number of downloads: 47

v2 : Attached File  altec_lansingvs2621_2.pdf ( 86.72k ) Number of downloads: 27

Besides, i need heavily backlighted normal and reverse pictures of the pcb of the speakers. rclxub.gif icon_question.gif

this is my last hope, no pictures of the pcb can be found on internet. my project is to transform that audio kit into an active subwoofer. my audio system misses a .1 speaker tongue.gif that system is 7.1 and i have already the 7 speakers thumbup.gif .

from the signals written on the main board, i guess there is:
_ button on/off
_ volume potentiometer,
_ jack 3.5 stereo connector
_ a pcb/board

the idea is to give vs2621 owners a schematic in order to repair theirs (and also for my own project).

add me to the club biggrin.gif

like how?

chances are your cable is dying or your volume pots are old and needs cleaning

I usually advice spraying with contact cleaner and twist the volume back and forth to clean it but most of the time vs4121 is so tightly covered the spray couldn't get into the electronics sweat.gif

thanks for the reply anyways smile.gif hope for me that i'll find another one who has that model. i think i'll do it smile.gif
the schematics that i've posted were done by following each copper track to each component.
i wrote down everything i could. but there are some parts i don't understand (the big part in the middle of the sheet).

if anyone needs some advice about repairing some cable... i can help.

Hello guys,

The reason this thread still alive because all love their Altec speakers.. Good quality build!!

Recently, I retrieved an old Altec Lancing ACS48 from my storeroom and it's dead.. Thinking to repair it and called Ban Leong just now (previously Altec distributor and SC) but they said no longer repair it..

Anyone have any contacts to repair PC speakers?? (techinian/shop/hifi shop contacts and etc...) I"ve been asking around but none can help.. Hope Lowyat can help...

Thanks guys..

Hi all, i recently use back my speaker that i keep for over 20 years, it still work like before. sound quite good actually for an old 2 decades product. I like it by the way, wish altec lansing come out with a model similar to this and refine everything that they can. It is ACS 45.
