It is better to let the port move the air freely instead of mesh blocking there...
How about cut out for better fit?

QUOTE(power911 @ Sep 17 2011, 10:47 PM) oh yes I wanted to do so Good then, but also remember the toroid tranny can be hot, make sure it won't melt the the filter. but after taking some time test and feel the material, it looks like cutting it out does inaudible difference. might as well leave it there, the difference is subtle. you'll only hear wind noise when you play it loud and go crazy have your ear close to listen to it (yes I've tried it and I'm silly so watevs I suddenly thought of an idea, using some car protectant or wax on woofer port, making it smoother airflow. I'm not at hostel all these days I can't try it |

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Sep 18 2011, 02:18 PM) Just a thought, can try and do no harm...It is a poor man style of reducing air turbulence. QUOTE(power911 @ Sep 18 2011, 05:40 PM) haha I was worried about that too before I try it out. Hmm...maybe toroid tranny is more efficient so less heat, I had mine quite hot, reaching 60ÂșC and still not enough to burn up the filter but long term might possible to melt some.turns out that it just gets constant mild warmth only when I blast for an hour or more. didn't even got a chance to reach plastic melting temperature. most of the time would be cold and dead dry on the other hand though the heatsink will get pretty hot when I blast music for that long (assume 2 hours). That explains the purpose of heatsink being there wax on woofer port? lol u kiddin' me? XD Edit: not much difference though. I doubt it'll improve anything (tested with my old cap ayam woofer that have long cardboard port) it just make a huge mess only XD No kidding lol, just to reduce air resistance. |

QUOTE(power911 @ Sep 18 2011, 06:38 PM) Coz when I heard B&W woofer bumping almost max volume, there is almost inaudible port sound when you put your ear near the port. Its port design is unique....That made me thought of importance of port turbulence |

I remember when I'm young I had phobia on oiling the speaker cone, I used car leather protectant to shine up the cone then end up blurry sound comes out...become very very bad sounding because the cone soften already. After that I start to apply carefully on the surround without touching the paper cone.
PP cone and metal cone are ok with it...it is built to resistance on moisture and it is much harder than paper cone. To prevent moisture affecting the sound you can try apply very thin layer of PVA glue reinforce it, but becareful and do it at your own risk. omg that in the end I test NE5532 opamp for my speaker and prefer it after all the other opamps I had in my hand. Added on September 22, 2011, 11:27 pmUsed silicone spray on the woofer port, smooth but does no help so far lol.... Use it to keep the surround soft is more effective. I tried auto silicone spray to lubricate all the connectors, prevent oxidize seems promising and the lube is very light that won't make the whole connector oily...
But then I plugged back everything and testing any channel imbalance problem then found out everything sounds thinner |

Around budget RM250 you can try out M3300 or M3300SF with 25W RMS of subwoofer power it is enough for vibration effect, if you want ceiling board shake and windows grill shake then you need to fork out more.
e3350 is a one of good speaker that give overall quality too but i'm not sure about the bass. |

Your bedroom size can learn kung fu fighting one? ya the e3350 very light the bass. i have to put like rubber pads at the btm so it wont move as it boom boom. if i dun put it'll actually travel lolz. but if compare m3300sf and p3060 which 1 will u recommend better? i using it for bedroom size nia. best if the sound dun travel too much. dun wan neighbour complain lolz Anyway, don't max out the bass volume then it will be ok for not annoying the neighbor. QUOTE(isildur88 @ Oct 2 2011, 03:01 AM) hi all.. ive been an altec lansing fanboy... but i wanna try edifier as some of my friends in uni last time use it and i can say that the quality of music is very good... can anyone recomend me edifier speakers in a range of 200-300... i would like something basically for every type of song... something like clear sound and can go boom boom at the same time.. ive been using altec mx5021... maybe there is something from edifier that can satisfy my needs... if you like boom boom sound from Altec Lansing MX5021, Edifier normally cannot do that because different sound signature but Edifier is good for overall performing.thanx For your price range, if you don't mind about 2.0 speaker, give R1600T Plus a try at price of RM280 if not wrong. |

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Oct 15 2011, 06:14 AM) That's movie/video alrdy~ Not pure music recording It has better recording than most nowadays of popular pop album, together with high quality video.I don't have that setup to try that pun. Save it xD Audio recorded in 24bit-96khz. That is the strong point of blu-ray. |

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Oct 15 2011, 11:44 PM) What I mean is, music production for sale(MUSIC ONLY) won't be recording in 5.1/7.1. I'm not saying that the sound quality is not good. Just curious, how large is that BRRIP? 24bit 96k Audio alone is large enough CD has normally no multiple channel because it is limit already with the normal formatBlu-ray disc has capacity of 25GB for single layer, normally movies took around 12GB?, so it has space for high quality audio. DVD-Audio has quality with 24bit-96khz but that is a rare stuff. And normally DTS audio has multiple channels, mostly I saw it use for blu-ray disc, there are normal CD using DTS audio and requires the to support such format in order to play it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5.1_Music_Disc Recording in multiple channel took a lot more work compare to 2 channel. QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Oct 17 2011, 12:19 PM) As for me, M1335 and M3400, M3400 really gives me better details. Especially on instruments. I'm not sure whether it's the correct term: "Resolution". I can differentiate each instrument, also with the details. Suddenly misses M3400 a lot. Haizzz There are always mod or changing speaker option |
