you really need to try google a bit smile.gif

but to answer your questions..
2nd hand, depends how long the 1st owner has used it and whether you like to experience the burn in process yourself. the issue about sticking something into your ear which someone else has stuck into theirs is not really a big thing considering you can buy new earpieces.

er4s > er4p > er6i > er6 in order of price, er4s being the most expensive of the ety range.

comparing shure and ety, try head-fi.org, got a few reviews there.

but if you got da spare cash, yeah try the one in the picture alamaklor posted.. tongue.gif its about us$900

threads merged. have PMed threadstarter for change of topic name. lets use this thread from now on for recommending and suggesting earphones. as usual, please refrain from one word/model/brand answers. as much as possible try and justify your suggestion with some useful information.

hello, guys.
i had made up my mind to get the etymotics ER-4s, as my fren can get it atthe price of USD$190.00. so i guess its a goodbuy after seeing the price of E3c at USD$120.00 and ER-6i at USD$99.00.

now i m waiting for my fren to come back.
then i will get the ER-4s pair with the RH-10, wondering how will this setup sound.
*
US$190 is a good price! where is your friend getting them from? do share tongue.gif hope your RH-10 has enough juice to drive these earphones, as they are rated at 100ohms. get the most out of your setup by using the lineout on your md player and hooking it up to a portable amp perhaps.

erm, is the er-4p and 4s the same?
coz i can find no difference between them.
and the amp of the RH-10 not enough to drive the ER-4s/p?
i tot the er-4p/s is mean for portable.
*jz find out that there are 3 versions of ER-4p/b/s.
one more question, p or s to get?
*
forget the 4b. either go with the 4p or the 4s. if you are 100% certain u wont be getting an amp, the 4p would probably be a safer bet. regarding using them as portables, i see quite a number of people on head-fi using the 4s for home use and the 6i for their daily commute.

actually, i m still confuse at this moment guys.
cos head-fi review got list "p to s cable", wat the heck is this?
its making me confused.
anyway, the design is definitely bad compare to er-6i or e3c, but compare to the output of the quality i guess this should be the one to get.

actually i plan to get it use outdoor. but guess that i wont be using any portable amp, becoz i cant find any good one like the cmoy amp in Malaysia.
or can someone build for me?
really scare that the bass is lacking when i use it in bus trip.
*
The P to S cable is for those people who buy the ER4P, once you use that extra cable, it changes the sound characteristics of the ER4P to match the ER4S exactly.

erm, then back to a very simple thing now.
comparing a USD99 er-6i and USD190 er-4, which one will u get?
or get shure e3c................?
*
considering your situation of using earphones with a portable setup but without an amplifier, i'd go with either the er6 or the shure. i chose ER6 over ER6i cause the 6i is white and i have bad experience with my white EX71SL and the white cord getting all grey and dirty. also, the ER6 has a more accurate frequency response than the 6i (i like to listen to music the way it was recorded and not having any coloured sound from the earphones).. of course, if u are a whitey person, then by all means go with the 6i smile.gif if u got the extra money to spare, just go for the ER4P + the P to S converter. that way, u get the ER4P and if u feel like trying the ER4S sound, just hook up the converter and there u go.

just to let you guys know, the ebay seller "idealsound" is affiliated with www.discountheadphones.com and they are selling the ER4s earphones for US$180 which is really well below the retail of US$330. i used their "offer best price" option in their auction and gave an offer of US$170 which they declined but messaged me saying they would sell for US$180. of course, + US$40 shipping international sweat.gif

hey any advise for a new set of headphones for me?budget around RM 150. primarily used for gaming / music.
*
for that amount of money either top up a bit say extra RM20-30 and get the philips HP890/895 or if you wanna try something smaller maybe the PX100.

if you want to keep your money in your wallet i suggest you just keep listening with your SR60 and dont ever try on anything higher in the grado range smile.gif i tried each series and ended up emptying my wallet over the 325i which sounded the best overall. luckily they didnt have the RS1 in the shop at the time.. sweat.gif

gav..so u own both the 325i and hd650?
hehe..recable them?
*
heh yeah i own both now, but find myself listening more with the 325i cause the music sounds much more interesting than with the senns. bass is soooo slammin' !! i agree with alamaklor that the grado/alessandro sound is a bit bright at times. my 650 sitting pretty in its box now blush.gif poor thing getting slightly neglected.

recable? man, the cardas upgrade cable for the senn costs S$250 here.. i think i'll be saving that up for a pair of ER4/SuperFi5pro soon to replace my ER6 for portable use.

What do you means by " hard to get in mas " ?  blink.gif

I heard that the sound of Grado Sr60 is superb clear .
So it's true ?
What if compare to the Hp-895 ? blink.gif
*
he means its hard to get the SR60 in malaysia, well, relatively hard, compared to the HP895. dont mistake 'superb clear' for 'bright' though. grado cans are known to be on the bright side, and i can testify to that. different genre of music do sound better on the grado line. just make sure if you are aiming for the SR60, dont try the higher range grado headphones because you will be too tempted to spend more money on them instead..

the UM1 is pretty much the crappiest pair of equipment i have owned so far.. i cant help but NOT recommend it.. laugh.gif

actually, dont bother with the UM2 as well.. really not worth the money. muddy, bloated, detail missing.. sounds like an overpriced EX71 rolleyes.gif
