oh 1 more thing, the 555 is not ultimate, neither is the 650. in fact, im not ultimately satisfied with them, and is still looking for something that'd truely replace them. brows.gif so don't get too excited about it biggrin.gif buy one, try it, when you realised their potential (headphones), you'd start dumping your multimedia speakers/entry level hifi and move to the dark side. RM500+ for a headphone isn't all that expensive really considering the sound quality that you'd get from the headphone and what you could get from a 500 bucks speaker.

The AKG K701 seems to have good feedback.. baby orpheus lol biggrin.gif Clashes heads up with the HD650

Hmm.. i'm getting a HD650 too.. in fact it's on the way to Malaysia at the moment i'm typing this tongue.gif

Currently theres a Little Dot III tube headphone amp in the bulk buy section. If you dont mind tubes it's sufficient for the HD650 i feel smile.gif

the 1212-M will have to wait, i'm more of a gamer than an audiophile and only the XFI cuts the butter for my framerates and EAX needs.
Not a tube person, it's the digital solid state era man! tongue.gif Trying to design an Opamp for this baby, but seriously, i'm too freaking lazy to start will all the hastle and then production of a PCB, etching away the copper and that smelly acid, ewwww. Any good high CMRR and cutoff OPAMPs to recommend?

Trying to design an opamp?? blink.gif U must mean trying to design headphone amp using opamps tongue.gif If u are comfident enough in your DIY skills you might want to go for the M3 straight away.. but anyway lets see what the doctor/alamaklor has to recommend you laugh.gif

I'm good with design, but totally rubbish when it comes to making and etching the PCB, too much theory and too little practical have dulled my skills, haahaha, a terrible engineer i'll be XD

Well if thats the case, the M3 just might fit the bill. It's a well designed DIY headamp plus they also sell the PCB boards over here http://www.amb.org/audio/mmm/ Just need to get the board and parts and you're ready to go!

Good luck building your amp, i know one other member here has already built one and another is thinking of building this as well smile.gif

Looking for something that does it for me in the Rock and Pop department. But i'm torn between the horrendously ugly RS-2 from Grado and the Not so ugly but flimsy AKG-701 (over priced over here tho)

Reason : Well, even with an Amp the HD650s sound abit too suited for anything besides Classical tunes, which i love ofcourse. But who doesn't love the dirty sounds of badly recorded Jpop once in awhile eh?

So, i'm really torn between the both, although the main reason i'm shying away from the AKG is the insane price over here, about 2900 ringgit and it seems flimsy, i'm not a small or careful person at that tongue.gif too. By my estimate the grado RS-2 should be far more expensive and the 325I be in the AKG 701 price range, but this is KL, it's all screwed up.

So just give your honest opinions and reason on which i should get, and thanks for any advice.

EDIT: I don't mind any other recommendations as long as they're sound.
Ever tought of the cable upgrade for the HD650? The Zu does add abit more spice and punch without loosing the smoothness. But of course, with the price of the cable plus a little top up you can get yourself another pair of headphones rclxub.gif

One more thing about tube amps.. I've tried my HD650 on the Doc's SOHA and different version of tubes does give different sound signatures. Electro Harmonix gave a very distant and large soundstage whilst the Ei is very close and intimate. Red Hot Chilli Peppers sounds very much alive on the Ei.. thumbup.gif Try rolling tubes if you have the chance, it'll help i think wink.gif

Just wanna ask, how much does the Zu cost and it's kind of wire? And where did you get it?
The Zu cable is a hybrid silver/copper cable and it cost me 440 SGD. I happen to have a friend going to singapore so i asked him to bring one back for me from Music By Design. There were no shorter lengths available so i had to settle for 2.5meters (more pricey sweat.gif )

Some review if you're intrested.
