Yes. That's what most people think.

For example, give them two eaphones, Sennheiser CX300 and OVC TC20. most of them will choose Sennheiser because of 1) the brand and 2) looks solid. They don't bother to try out OVC TC20 at all

Yes. You should remember this, even most of our daily products are from China, nobody has ever heard of OVC TC20 before. Even if you tell them that Sennheiser is manufactured in China, they will still grab it at the instant. Consumers are comfortable of selecting branded stuff (proly because of money sake). Therefore, it's the brand which mess up consumers' mind instead of the quality.
