Noted... so you recommended go for AC Ryan HD2 mini for better built quality?
*
I never use the ACryan before so I cannot comment on it. I would go for the WDTV Live-S if you do not need rmvb. It can play any video(except rmvb) without problems and PQ is awesome. Its got Androis and IOS remote control too.

can i knw ur camera model also the detail for ur TS format which u say is not play smooth...

i test D550, D600 record video file is ok, also TS file in my HDD also no problem... (only have one 3d mkv file have lagging problem de), sumtimes certain special file can not play is normal de, no player guarantee can play 100% movie no problem de (for old WDTV Live ady got many lastest version format cant play well leh, thats why they launch the new WDTV Live Air).. but if many files can not play then is a very big problem leh, i think they also do many test before product lauching de, if got many files can not support they wont put the player into the market de..

my personal experience for operation speed 1185/1186 player is much faster than sigma 8655 player de, when i use wd tv live, wd tv live air everytime press the remote nid wait 1 or 2 second then got response de (of coz differet environment n equipment will make different result de) (u also can off the Android 1st when u play movie de)

for hd900 player now sure still have sum bug nid fix de, sumthing like certain file not support as well, BT download..... nw almost every week got beta firmware cm out de, u can try Upgrade de...

if face any problem better post to their forum will be more useful

I am using Canon 550D and I am so surprise you say the mov files from it can play smooth. All my movies direct from camera is very lagging....hmmm. They are all 1080P.

You might wanna try the ts file below. You can see the file play but the image on the screen is all garbage only.

2010.Victoria.Secret's.Fashion.Show.36Mbps.1080i.HDTV.ts
The.Victoria's.Secret.Fashion.Show.2011.1080i.HDTV.36MBit.MPEG-2.MPA2.0-CtrlHD.ts

The other problem I face is BDMV with 5.2 LPCM audio would play but the I get a loud static noise only.

Don't get me wrong. I am not saying that the HiMedia is a bad product. I think the firmware really needs improvement as it still having playback issues with a lot of file format which plays well on my WDTV LIVE. I was hoping this could replace my WDTV LIVE but then I run into problems playing many of the files.

I have been using the Sigma chipset for the past 3 years and now I have the 1186 chipset. All I can say is that the new 1186 chipset is every bit as good as the sigma chipset in terms of PQ. Hope that helps.

Discover more and more bug with 900A.

While playing mkv with 2 audio track, I try to switch to the 2nd audio track and the sound stop. Can't even play mp3 after that. Need to reboot.

Still cannot play canon DLSR full hd mov file...lag like hell.
BDMV with PCM audio playback with louse noise.
some .ts file that play fine on my WDTV Live won't play on 900A.

Still no fix after 2 months...haiz

Hi guys,

I had recently bought HD900a from Digital mall and kind of dissapointed with it;

(1) All IP TV features kind of fail to play... Maybe too slow. I have Unifi 5mbps. And no other internet activity during testing

(2) video playback quality suck. It is clearly inferior as compare to my Samsung built in player. video is blocky... And contrast unnatural high... Kind of like Nikon camera. Basically it make my 10GB files playback looks as 1 or 2 GB files....

Is it normal experinces?

Video playback is very very good. You must have done something wrong.

But Himedia 900A is not a very good player as I have encounter many problems with this player.

need some advise from HD900a owner .......this box worth to buy ? what are the major problem face ?

If you don't need rmvb playback, go for WDTV Live. So far my experience with WDTV Live is that it can play all the files I throw at it, but the same cannot be said about HD900A.

Hi guys... Does anyone tried to play a movie with Dolby 5.1 (AC3) surround sound using HiMedia Q3, and then audio output from Digital Optical to home theatre system?

Does the home theatre system decode the audio in Dolby 5.1 when the movie is playing? Just to make sure... hehe

Sure can bro.

Well, the primary reason is to be a media center. So in addition to streaming/watching movies, Its my audio center, plays audio files, podcasts and acts as a radio. I hooked up a PS3 controller and game a bit on it when I can... PS Emulators, Asphalt 8, Dead Trigger, Modern combat, etc (I reserve heavier gaming for the PC). Used to use my previous box as a torrent downloader to an external HD (Less electricity consumed + no need to copy here, there..). Some browse on their TV, I don't and find it improper to do so in the family room. Get a compatible webcam n mic, install Skype, hangouts, etc, and can chat with family n pals.

P.S. For more homely/nefarious activities... It can also act as a webcam + audio recorder..  icon_idea.gif

How to use PS3 controller on android player. I am also looking for a wireless keyboard touchpad for my android TV box. Any recommendations?

One thing about this HiMedia player I am starting to dislike is that it's got very poor phone support. My Q5ii don't have any app for my android and iPhone to use a remote. Their is also very poor firmware update. I would think the Xiaomi Mi TV box would be better especially the jailbreak one.
