Will be ordering from Nicety pretty soon or it is cheaper from Lazada?
*
I bought my Himedia from Nicety more than a year ago. I recommend either Q5 Pro or Q10 Pro.

Even IF you can find one at a slightly cheaper price than Nicety's, I strongly recommend that you get it from Nicety. His after sales service is second to none! You will need help from sifu like Nicety if you are new to TV Box. Even if you are an IT guru, Android TV box is a different fish.

He keeps the latest apps, add-ons, firmwares etc for his customers. That is a great help for me.

Many of Nicety's customers have provided positive feedback on his after sales service in this forum. You will not regret it if you get it from him.

Enjoy your new TV box!

My 2 cents on Cat 6 cable.

Used Cat 6 for my home network and disappointed with the slow speed when I was backing up my PC to a NAS.

Later changed to another Cat 6 cable and wah-lah, the speed improved by about 2 folds.

Not all Cat 6 cables are the same. Sorry, I forgot the cable brands now.

Use this utility to find out what is the speed.

What's the transfer speed before & after?
*
Can't remember now. I think I made a note of it. Will try to find it.

P/S If memory cells are still OK, something like 200 mbps to 400 mbps. Still want to get 1,000 mbps as what Cat 6 can do. Yes, there are limiters elsewhere, not just the cable.

If the cat-5E cable that you previously install didn't transfer the speed within the spec there must be something wrong. Installation of the cable can be a factor. Cat-5 cables are easily twisted, over bending etc. All these are the cause of the loses. Cat-6 cable are much thicker and not easily twist like other cables. not to mention bending inside the conduits joins.

If the first initial installer followed the guide lines to installed the cat-5E cable. It is more than enough to coped the speed out hardware can handle.
*
Both are Cat 6 cables.

I was going to return the "slow" Cat 6 cable but no receipt! Got Cat 6 printed on this cable. And this cable is thinner than the other faster Cat 6 cable. My suspect is, it is actually a Cat 5 but they wrongly printed Cat 6 on the cable.

I believed and using Quasar is the only way to watch better VID at the moment.
*
Wondering why Quasar while one can watch same movies in Exodus, HD Movie etc etc.

Higher quality movies via P2P?

I have not used Kodi P2P but will consider if there are good/worthwhile reasons to pursue that.

Thanks.

I think most people used Quasar because you can find better quality vid. Exodus feed mostly 2CH audio.

If you have patient. Use Quasar.

I'll be getting the Q10Pro

My requirement

Video:
I using for my old Panny 720p Plasma
I use the Plasma for the hall, I simply like the Plasma blacks. (I also have other FullHD LED TV in other rooms, yet I luv the plasma)
I dont need for High Res or 3D stuff

Audio:
I using Coaxial Cable from Media Player to my old skool Dolby/DTS Amp.
I need Dolby and DTS, no need super high HD audio whatever.

Media:
Currently, I download all my MKV to watch on my Dune player, my Files are kept in the USB hardrive connected to the Router
But I need more than that, especially for online streaming. My friend show me a lot of stuff can be found in Kodi, no need to download anymore.

My Dune player getting very old, and not much or any apps for it except youtube sad.gif

Is the Q10Pro ok for me?
I wanna use it for Kodi, Live channels and play my MKV files.

Thank you for any advice
*
Good choice on Q10 Pro!

Like Voncrane has said, the old 720p TV is not doing justice to Q10 Pro capabilities. Strongly recommend to get a TV with :

* 10 bits colors
* HDR (high dynamic range)

That will raise your visual viewing enjoyment to another level with Q10 Pro!

And also get a sub woofer for your AVR!

Ha.

Still waiting for my Pana to fail before getting mine. I am also into Pana plasma TV. One of the most satisfied products I bought so far.

Keep an eye on Seng Heng, they have good promotion now and then.

OK guys thanks for the reply, going to order the Q10Pro

Last question on the purchase...

What remote control (or air mouse) good for it, my fingers are big so I need something bigger buttons to type on.

Thanks all
*
2 suggestions:

AA
Trimming program for your fingers! Ha.

BB
I am using Logitech wireless keyboard. A lot easier than using the screen keyboard. Suggest getting the one with button-light. Yes, even during day time with window opened (but no room light), still need some help on which buttons to press! Ha.

Enjoy your new toy!

Yesterday recieved my q10
[attachmentid=8783162]

Only problem is setting up the Lan Storage is a hassle.
Using ES explorer, its easy. But using Himedia one cannot skip Name and Password. What Name and Password? I never set them for my Network Storage.
ES explorer I just tick the Anonymous

Good thing about this set is can adjust the screen size manually to fit my 720p screen which is 92% smaller.

First experience with Kodi is a joke, movies write HD but manada HD, more like cinema capture quality.
Even for movies which has already have Bluray release.
But I still playing with it, maybe I need to do some setting.

Desperately need an air mouse.
*
I faced the same problems in setting up the network media. Advice is not to use Kodi media (too problematic for me), just use the Android media. Now I can get to my NAS files without password. Forgot how I managed to do that now.

Yes, same issue with HD movies in Kodi, not really HD for most.

But ...

Use some of the apps (especially Chinese apps) and the movie quality there is much much better.

A steep learning curve with the new toy but will be rewarding later once you have mastered it.

I have almost given up on somethings...

How on earth you scroll down using the supplied remote?

I means whats below the TV screen? The D pad doesn't do it, the Mouse didn't do it, I pressed all buttons on the remote and still it doesn't want go to down.
*
I assume you want to scroll down a long list of titles, right?

2 options

* press on the down arrow button, one title at a time, slow and wasting battery! Ha.
* press the right arrow button, then each time you press the down arrow button, it will scroll down by a PAGE!

I have advised my family members to exit Kodi by using the screen exit/stop button.

There is this remote HOME button. Now asking myself why this button if I don't use it! Why do I need to do it the harder way using the stop/exit button? Some says so that Kodi will shutdown properly. But then why this HOME button?

Like to know from those who have consistently used the HOME button to exit kodi and whether you face any problem later with Kodi.

Thanks.

stupid question, just started using q10 pro yesterday with kodi and media player on USB. 1 only problem is the output of sound through my samsung ks7000. i need to set it to like volume 50 which is still quite soft...

was thinking whether should i get  sound bar. can q10 pro connect to sound bar using bluetooth or wireless? dont want all wires coming out from my cabinet ... also can recommend me any good to start sound bar?  anything that helps in watching movies and dramas. dont need to be super dts what not, just need some omh, rumbling for action movies. thank you.
*
From my setup to Onkyo AVR, the volume setting on the Himedia remote will dictate the AVR volume. AVR takes the set volume and then processes it. If the remote set volume is low, then AVR will see a low volume for processing.

Enjoy!

Come to think of it, try increasing the vol via the remote vol button and see.

Otherwise how does the avr know what vol level to take?

Good luck! Ha.

Cancel Netflix because not much newer or latest big title  movies after 1 month free trial.

4K, HDR and Dolby vision which mostly available  for Netflix original only. Whereby not much drama for me. I'm not boycot the app but just try getting something which suit me the most. I can still renew back anytime if I want t right?

Yet I still enjoy the media box with AVCHD, MKV and some kodi source or streaming apk. Also I got myself uhd player and order few UHD movies and blu ray from Amazon.

Yes both of you are right I'm new in 4K TV and home theatre system somehow I trying to learn, gather information and discussion (believe lowyat forum is a place for this). I'm not here to start a forum war or something but if u unhappy to reply my noob question of coz you free to scroll down and ignore my sentence.

Anyhow cheers guys, sharing is caring.

I have traveled that road before. Got some not so nice remarks. More on difference in views than my newbie knowledge on the subject.

OK to ask as long as one has done some basic home work in this thread or google.

Enjoy your streaming hobby!

Hi all, Q10pro user here,

I bought my device about 3 months ago and it comes with pre installed Kodi jarvis 16. it working very well before until yesterday i upgraded to Kodi 17.3.
After i upgraded to Kodi 17.3, i cannot watch any of movies and tv shows from Exodus. Then i tried to uninstall and reinstall Exodus, but still cannot play any movie or tv show.
It is i am doing anything wrong? any idea how to fix it?
*
Using Q5 Pro here. Upgraded to Kodi 17.3 recently. Still working fine for me, including Exodus.

Suggest to uninstall Exodus and then reinstall it.

Other apps working fine?
