Is it correct to say that if you do not view 3D, then no need for the HB900 series?
*
yes can say like this, but still 1186 higher specs than 1185 chipset de, 750Mhz, 512M DDR3, HDMI 1.4 n Support Adobe Flash, when try the 1186 player operating speed is much faster than 1185 player de

for Android, this function i feel got many apps not compatible de, so just can say is a extra function only..

but as i say hd900a price rm399, so why still nid pay extra but get low specs (1185 chipset) player sumthing like ac ryan, xtreamer...himedia also is a very good brand..

Does the faster 750Mhz helps in producing better PQ, etc?
*
no, but it will providing more fast operating speed, network processing speed...

also 1186 use hdmi1.4 output, use 1.4 hdmi cable n ur tv support hdmi 1.4 sure quality better than hdmi 1.3 version de

Firmware releases slowdown means the player is quite stable now, also 2 or 3 month Upgrade one time is quite normal de (i sell media player few years ady, i cant say himedia firmware support is the best but sure can say its top de)

yes, still have sum problem can see from they forum, but u can see those problem ady not common de, different environment, different equipment all will may make those individual issue happen de... no 100% perfect player exist in the world, also dnt have any player can make 100% ppl satisfied... (u can check sumthing like ac ryan, xtreamer... forum also face many problem de)

Currently for hd600 series Personal think ady very ok de, except online streaming movie (but at malaysia other brands also same de)

I don't care much about watching those crap online movie...I didn't purchase this media player to stream those 480p (even if they call it high definition) movies..  So, I'm cracking my head becoz Himedia seems like spending more effort in bringout their Hitv 2.0 than to concentrate on providing a better and more solid firmware..
*
so wut exactly problem nw u use ur himedia player?

Got my 900A yesterday.  I am very surprise how good this player is.

I manage to get DTS-HD and DolbyTrueHD working on my receiver.  There is still bugs with multi-channel LPCM.  I got 2 BDMV with multi-channel LPCM and both play but with continous poping sound on one of the surround speaker.  then I stop the playback but then navigating the menu also got the poping sound.

Picture quality is just as good or better than my WDTV Live.

What Home menu is decent but navigating the movies, music etc is not as good.  Its too complicated.

So far a very good player for the price.  Haven't try out other features yet.
*
u try turn off the 24P setting, see still got poping sound or not...

Anyone else having problem with the HiMedia 900A?  Mine is dead after less than 2 weeks of light duty.  Quite disappointed with it.  Going back to my WDTV Live and I notice that the WDTV Live is still so much faster as compare to the 1186 realtek chipset.  Navigating the menu on the old WDTV Live feels a lot faster although the processor is much slower.  Hmmm...what is wrong with this 1186 chipset?  Ane more thing is that the HIMedia could not playback many files for eg. the mov files from my Canon Dslr camera, ts files while they play flawlessly on the WDTV Live.
*
can i knw ur camera model also the detail for ur TS format which u say is not play smooth...

i test D550, D600 record video file is ok, also TS file in my HDD also no problem... (only have one 3d mkv file have lagging problem de), sumtimes certain special file can not play is normal de, no player guarantee can play 100% movie no problem de (for old WDTV Live ady got many lastest version format cant play well leh, thats why they launch the new WDTV Live Air).. but if many files can not play then is a very big problem leh, i think they also do many test before product lauching de, if got many files can not support they wont put the player into the market de..

my personal experience for operation speed 1185/1186 player is much faster than sigma 8655 player de, when i use wd tv live, wd tv live air everytime press the remote nid wait 1 or 2 second then got response de (of coz differet environment n equipment will make different result de) (u also can off the Android 1st when u play movie de)

for hd900 player now sure still have sum bug nid fix de, sumthing like certain file not support as well, BT download..... nw almost every week got beta firmware cm out de, u can try Upgrade de...

if face any problem better post to their forum will be more useful

Hello. Im new here and own a Hi media 910A. I bought this to replace a Popcorn Hour B110 from 2008. I expected a lot from the 910A due to the newer chipset and many extra features but am let down by its  non ability to play 3D files and other HD files with HD audio, played via the network or directly from a usb3 drive directly connected.
I upgraded my network to 10/100/1000 recently and this has made no difference. Support for this product is as bad as it was from Popcorn Hour with the B110. I have gone back to the B110 as it plays all the files the 910A refuses to play correctly, via the network. Himedia need to support their products.
*
as we knw 910a for support 3d file(even ori 3d iso file) n current mostly hd flie n hd audio is ok de, can u provide sum details inform about ur file which it not support de

via the network u mean is network share izzit? 910a lan port max can reach is 100mbs only, performance is not very good, for small file is ok, but if is big hd file sure will be lagging de.. but play direclty use usb should be no problem de

Thank you for your reply. Titanic 3D is one title that has audio drop out when played from a BMDV folder or a rip to M2TS, .ts or .mkv with DTS MA audio. All these files play perfect on my 5 year old Popcorn Hour B110 that has a 100mb network. The B110 will not play the BMDV folder directly, one reason I upgraded. Himedia need to fix this issue that many others report, but they dont seem willing to do so. I wont make a Chineese purchase again.
*
yes, for streaming those hd file use samba or nfs is not good de, but if u play from hdd should be no problem de..maybe u should try other "english purchase" which player same use realtek 1186 chipset see wuts the result then say it is chipset issues or himedia problem..

Popcorn Hour B110 price at least treble than 910a, even more than 4 years but hardware spec still is better de, like rm300+ price range 910a can support 3d file(even ori 3d iso file) n current mostly hd flie n hd audio, also directly play BDMV or ISO file from external hdd..this price can do those function is quite good ady (dnt expect it can do eveything)

i also have a Popcorn Hour C200 at home, yes it audio output is great, but now quite lot bd file can not decode ady, but 910a all can support..

u maybe can wait the new sigma chipset player which can support 3d file, i heard it coming soon ady....

play a real 3D movie, must have below device: a 3D TV (with 1.4v hdmi port), a 3d blu-ray player or 3d media player (with 1.4v hdmi port), a amplifier which support 3d n a ori 3d disk or ori 3d iso (bdmv) file...less one is not possible to play real 3d movie de...

those left-right, up-down or red n blue file just is simulation of 3D, not real 3d file, output quality is different de..(currently media player only got realtek 1186 chipset can play real 3d file de, sigma chipset still can not de)

the latest himedia hd900 firmware (2013.01.06) can download here: http://v.himedia-tech.cn/himedia/hd900/201..._1.0.5.7.tar.gz
hd600 lastest firmware: http://v.himedia-tech.cn/himedia/hd600/201...1.0.8.14.tar.gz
hd900 in market more than 18 month ady (hd600 more than 2 years), u cant expect a player over a year still every month can get new firmware de (most brand after half year ady stop provide the firmware support), pls do sum research before do complain lack of support from Himedia..

about the audio drop out so far i test my 6tb 3d database is ok de (3d Titanic i also have iso, mkv version, 3diso with DTS HDMA audio output dnt have any problem), but cant guarantee maybe got few source will happen de..(cant just say coz u have 1 or 2 source audio drop out then hd900 play movie will audio drop out de, better test another 1186 chipset player try the same movie file then see wut happen 1st)

mind to check with your guys what exactly the difference between Himedia Media Player & Himedia Android TV player? I saw another thread talk about this...In my opinion both quite similar and android TV player has more features....sorry if it is nob question and pls enlighten.  thanks.
*
most brand realtek 1185 chipset player now ady stop de, now sum android tv player local playback function is same like 1185 player de but got more features (like himedia q5, q6, q10)... easy say is old model n new model..

just android box now still can not support ori 3d playback de, so if u nid play ori 3d movie still nid realtek 1186 box de

here nid say again side by side, top up file is not real 3d file de, ori 3d movie must nid ur tv with hdmi v1.4 port, media player with 1.4v hdmi port, also amplifier must with 1.4v hdmi port then can support 3d movie n 3d sound de...currently in market only got realtek 1186 player or 3d blu-ray player can play real 3d de..

for audio drop out problem, im not say u r wrong, my piont is u better test more file 1st, just dont coz 1 file got problem then say de (hd audio drop out is a very serious problem de)... (if u must complain also u should complain the realtek chipset 1st, unless u test the same file will play fine use another realtek 1186 chipset player)...

for new update u cant expect it just update for u only, n i believe the update is not just those two part only de...

Hi Guy, I just got HD600AII. Bought it from China. Anyone here owns it?

The problem now is I am trying to enter App Store from Application Menu, but it seems like I can enter it.

Do you have the same problem? Do I need to update the DIY firmware for better use in Malaysia?

Besides that, can anyone provide step by step way to backup then update the firm ware?

Thank you for helping.
