Thank you bro for the explaination. Now i know with different kind of setup, we can get different result. Btw, my new HDMI Arch cable just arrived and yet it still does not work when connecting from Soundbar to TV via HDMI ARC connection. Tired of figuring how to make things work,  I guess I will just use Optical cable as this is the workable solution available right now. I am not sure what is wrong with the setup . Already check with both TV manual and Soundbar manual on how to connect each device. Sigh, now I feels that the RM50 spent on that the new cable is such a waste.
*
console.gif Quick questions;
*Both the TV and HT same manufacturer? Cuz compatibility issues between proprietary tech.
*To connect, just beside the TV's hdmi ports, there'll be a specific port labelled as "HDMI-ARC".. This is the port that just be used to connect the soundbar. After which (if I recall correctly), ANYNET feature needs to be enabled on both devices in order to establish a connection.. HDMI-CEC too. Tried all these?

It's been fixed in latest Kodi v17.2 and VLC.. Even Popcorntime too.. Unfortunately, those still stuck with older versions have to be more cautious.

kodi, ok.

popcorntime... will check.

there are some more... terrarium, showbox, megahd...

Using the "Open With" feature as a workaround for now is safer.. Can open with Kodi, download subs and playback from there.. smile.gif

Yes. I just cancel netflix an hour ago. Because i was told by my friend can after confirm only knew that he actually not so familiar with SD, HD, 4k. To him is acceptable PQ for netflix android box. As for youtube, not sure my eyes or what but build in TV one seem PQ better as compare to 2 version of youtube at my tvbox. Dont know what the both different just the layout as compare to TV is different too.

Just got directv trial version and smartdns. Will give a try and update you guys.
*
Bruh... If you have a truly smart TV, then you are supposed to use the Netflix app on it instead.. If supported, you'll get;
*Easier launch
*Easier navigation
*As AVFAN pointed out... 1080p (minimum) or 4k, hdr, dolby vision, dd 5.1 audio...

P.S. I'm assuming you have a recently produced & decent 4K TV and or HD audio system.

Alamak. .. so sad means free is not free anymore. I will pass this one.

Nah.. It's still free. Just that they have switched from the auto-detect and maintain model to a register and apply TM promo model. So when you register, their system will detect and credit the promo period to the account. You can then use said account to log onto various devices.

Already tried few time uninstall and reinstall the Exodus. still cant watch any
Other apps still not yet tested.

Tried Exodus on a clean Kodi V17.3 install? As i think, the jump from 16.1 to 17.3 was too much for your current setup to migrate properly.. Tons of changes happened between both versions.. Krypton is a significant upgrade, so a fresh start is advised.

QUOTE(plumberly @ Jun 2 2017, 08:08 PM)
Just sharing a test I have been doing since early May. I stopped using the screen EXIT button, used remote HOME button to exit KODI. A month is quite a long time and any resulting error should show up by now.

3 things:

AA
On cold Q5 Pro startup, sometimes (about 1 in 20), it hangs there and I have to press the power button to restart. This has happened before when I was using the screen EXIT button. Frequency about the same. So don't think this problem is a result of me using the HOME button to exit Kodi.

BB
When I returned to Kodi after using the HOME button, it brought me back to the page where I left Kodi. So HOME is more like a pause function than a true exit.

CC
Before May when I used QUICKCLEAN, I usually cleaned about 200-400 MB of memory. On using the HOME button to exit Kodi, seeing 400-700 MB a few times on using QUICKCLEAN. Think this is due to uncleared memory on using HOME button to exit Kodi.

Found this.

[attachmentid=8869338]

As long as the memory usage is not too high in playing my Q5 Pro, then using HOME to exit Kodi (temporary or permanent) is AOK.

Cheerio.
*
All you've experienced is normal.. The Home button on Android acts as the "Minimize" button on PC OSes like Windows, Mac or Linux distros.. The app will stay in its suspended state until the system requests more RAM, in which case the firmware's "kill" app to free memory, kicks in.... Suspended app gets force-closed (not shutdown/exited properly) for good and RAM is released. For some as in your case, doing this a couple times won't hurt, but pray that day will never come when Kodi's files are corrupted and it refuses to launch or becomes problematic.. smile.gif

Thanks for testing and feedback.

QUOTE(plumberly @ Jun 4 2017, 11:00 AM)
On 8 GB vs 16 GB, I used to think with 16 G,B one will have 16-8 = 8 GB more for me. Not really.

I changed from Himedia H8 2+16GB to Q5 Pro 2+8GB, initially worried that the 8 GB would cause me problems with the limited free memory for a smooth Kodi operation. I went ahead with the Q5 Pro change. Surprise, surprise later when I got Q5 Pro running with more or less the same Kodi + apps setup as when I was using H8.

In both H8 and Q5 Pro, I have about 1-1.5GB free memory. Why?

Learnt later from a guru that it is not 100% dependent on the 8 or 16 GB, it depends on how they configured the memory. So looks to me that in Q5 Pro, their memory configuration is better! Ha.

Cheerio.
*
Dude.. You are confusing yourself.. RAM memory is not the same as Storage memory. In both devices, you had 2GB RAM.. RAM is for running apps and not storage. Don't mix em up.

Edit:
Yes on a typical 16GB device you'll have at least 8GB more to play with. I'm yet to see any with free STORAGE leftover (after firmware + stock system apps) less than 8GB. You should be getting around the range of 10-12GB free storage memory.

As for RAM, leftover RAM depends on the following;
*How many apps running at a given time.
*How much is required by the firmware to stay "sane".
*How efficient (or brutal) your device is at managing available RAM.
Thing is, RAM was designed to be used and so just cuz one out of two same devices with the exact config on each, uses lesser than the other, doesn't necessarily mean that it's the better one. It simply boils down to efficiency. So seeing the same range of free RAM on both the H8 & Q5 Pro is expected.

MKV movie files with size 5-7GB. So far i only got 1 player and it does play well with my PC. Just when i copy files to Himedia HDD which i addon, sometime it play half way and pop back to file choosing screen. I using the default media center player.

I also test play x265 format or BDMV files which so far so good dont have such issue. Only MKV files size 5-8GB one.
*
QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jun 22 2017, 10:29 AM)
OK, i hv seen this with older boxes but not with Q10pro.

i have junked all small files <10gb, keep only big ones.
a possible explanation i can think of is the ripping of the file is not very good, player reject.

and yes, pc can play some of these slightly faulty rips but will also not play if the rip is too bad - sure u hv encountered them.

my suggestion is u get from trusted sources and go for bigger files - they are usually better rips.
*
hmm.gif hmm.gif. That's really weird though. One would think it's the higher bitrate and HEVC files that should be problematic.. Not the simpler H.264 mkvs.. Explanation seems legit. Could also be a corrupted download.

to that, 2 things i will say...  biggrin.gif

1. all 5 human senses - sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch - do not attempt the next better level unless u r ready.
once u see or hear something better, it is very hard to go back!

2. with all the heat, the really good stuff will become harder to get, more so over time for the older titles.

just like i hv junked hundreds of old dvd's (never going to watch them again), i have traded a lot of 720/1080 dd/dts for for bdmv/4k/hd audio.
takes a lot of bytes, these biggies...
*
Ya.. Till date, when in a shopping mall.. I have to make a very conscious decision to look away when approaching the TVs section. Cannot be poisoned.. not yet.. C'mon OLED, get cheaper..

I hope I'll not be too late to grab them then. No worries, I'll just ship me NAS to you and clone your collection.. laugh.gif

Read properly bro...not yet lah... hahaha... 20k gets you the best fake 4K / pixel shifter only... wait for price to come down more... Vivitek & Optoma launching budget 4K projector... see how first laugh.gif

In your case...once you go black...  tongue.gif
*
Yes.. I'm not interested in pseudo 4K with HDR/Dolby Vision... next upgrade has to be the real deal. So hopefully current setup holds out for a couple more years. The projector scene interests me as well. Just that and as you pointed out, for best performance, a proper Media Room is required. So that's an expense that'll be up for consideration far down the road. smile.gif

No intention of returning tongue.gif ..

Something u may want to check further.

Not the first time, but i just encountered it again.

A new 16gb file i put on a rather old hdd showed problems... video jerks, stops, return to beginning. Tried 3 times, same.

Tested same file on another hdd, no problem.

Copied the "good" file onto "bad" hdd but in diff folder.

It played fine this time.

Removed "bad" file.

All is good now, but it may happen again if to a new file is copied on same bad hdd sector.

I am now sure the old hdd has a bad corrupted sector, probably due to age, wear n tear.

Seen this before in another hdd which eventually kaput.
In yr case, copying file in bad sector to another place may not work as it is already corrupted.

Will need a duplicate or fresh copy.
*
Oh yeah, I missed that.. Corrupt sectors.

Hi Sifus, its so much info there and I just decided to place my bet on H96 Pro+.
I need it by the 11th within 4 days time. Anyone know where I can get it? Cheapest price I can find is RM248 online. Want to COD. Any reseller plz recommend to me. TQ

And btw, if I have 3 TVs at home, how do I let all 3 TVs to watch from the TV box? Back in UK there is something like this, and its even better that allows all 3 TVs to watch different channel..
*
1. Garage Sales section.. Ask around in there, you might bump into a seller willing to COD or at minimum ship out immediately.
2. Do not mistake a typical Android box for a satellite dish decoder.. Want multiple "separate" views, get multiple hardware. Simple as that... That's if you can find channels to watch in the first place.
