If you have already entered your e-mail address, check your e-mail before you order again. My time the whole Opera crash when I try to print out the PO. If you received e-mail of your PO, then your order are already in.

Not because its included free 4GB, hence the spec is 8GB ?
*
The original spec is 8Gb, hence making the free 4Gb redundant.

erm, about the care pack, as i call hp they said I can buy the care pack within 90 days after purchase the laptop. Is it true?

I think the 4GB RAM is included in the spec sheet, same as dv6114tx

Added on June 11, 2011, 11:54 am
Can anyone help us to confirm this? I am not free in this few weeks time to go to shopping near lowyat area. (Tests and coursework deadline is coming to crush me...)
*
As I say before, 6108TX originally comes with 8Gb. In the last promotion and also listed as such by Mobility Solution in Low Yat, which I saw last week but never ask whether it is available in store or not.

QUOTE(jacob521 @ Jun 11 2011, 12:27 PM)
for dv6108tx is 8gb ram + 4gb ram = 12gb intotal.  biggrin.gif
*
That would be very worth it if that it's true. An single 8Gb Ram stick currently cost a fortune.

QUOTE(xD4rever @ Jun 11 2011, 12:42 PM)
when i order in online store (dv6-6114tx)..how i choose the colour
*
There is no colour choice available to be chosen by buyer, but I can confirm that 2 colours are available. Mine is a Dark Umber, different from the colour of the one on display in Mobility Solution, which I believe is the colour of Metal Finish.

Not sure. You have to ask those who bought the 6114TX. Either they give random colour to buyer, separate colour for 6114TX and 6108TX, or Dark Umber for online purchase and Metal Finish for retail purchase. Can't confirm which one unless we do some survey on current owner.

its damn weird, they says its sold out yet im able to order it: http://h20386.www2.hp.com/MalaysiaStore/Bu...pdetail=P185322.
but with no goodies sad.gif
*
From the current promotion, the only worth goodies is the MS Office & the extra 4Gb RAM (which I think is the reason why this unit being labeled SOLD OUT). The mouse and laptop bag is utterly sh*t especially the bag.

Adding word: To those buying online, please save some money to get yourself a nice bag as the bag given can't fit the size of this laptop.

well, extra 1 gb for the gfx card, bigger hdd and faster processor. dunno might be just me..

The only that makes 6108TX stands out is the processor only which I'm sure can support the 1600MHz RAM. The only problem is that I have to get the Kingston PnP type since the BIOS is so basic, there is no adjustment option available. Now if only I can figure out how to open the back plate without breaking it..... hmm.gif
Once the spec of the 6114TX were out stating that it came with a Blu-Ray Drive, I would think that this model are worth it unless you really want a higher processor.
A bigger hard disk? Mine is a 3-platters Toshiba Hard disk, while some one mention that Samsung is coming out with a 2-platters 1 TB hard disk soon which should hold some advantage over the Toshiba.

Wonder why HP didn't equip it with DDR3-1600 in the 1st place. The 2 platters 1TB Samsung is pretty expensive..

Btw, good luck with opening that backplate.  laugh.gif
*
For now DDR3-1600MHz is still consider a premium type of RAM, so it's not feasible for them to provide this but I believe sooner or later they will include this into their laptop range.
Astria mention that the Samsung Hard disk will debut at USD 129.00 which is OK compare to the price quoted when other higher capacity hard disk make their debut.

Any tips to share on how to "break" the virgin laptop's backplate?? Anyone??

You won't void your warranty unless the backplate is physically broken.

i7-2630QM can't support PC1600
It just the back plate, no warranty sticker what so ever.
*
There are people successfully running DDR3-1600 with their 2630QM. The only advantage I see in using a 1600 or higher RAM is that it give a significant improvement to the performance of Intel HD3000 graphic.
I'm not sure if the 6001TX can support DDR3-1600 since it has a different motherboard from the 6114/6108. But I can confirm that my motherboard HM65 chipset is a B3 revision as shown by AIDA64 software (In CPU-Z,it is shown as Revision 05)

A Screen Shot CPU-Z, Motherboard's Chipset Stepping & Prime 95 under medium setting for Coolsense of the DV6-6108TX

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Obviously the motherboard are different from 6001TX, hence the max RAM support of 16GB.

The good news is I manage to open the backplate, but the inside seems very cramp with some wiring running around.
The RAM slot looks cramp that I'm not sure the Kingston HyperX RAM can fit in. hmm.gif

Now my next problem is to determine whether this laptop is having a manual or auto switchable graphic.
I can't seems to find out which graphic were active as both GPU-Z and HW Monitor didn't have any reading for both graphic. rclxub.gif

Edit: Enlarging pic of the CPU-Z SS.

Hahaha, just found out that we can now choose between auto and manual graphic switching in this laptop. Although manual switching causes a temp dark screen, but at least I have more choice. rclxms.gif

QUOTE
Selecting a Switchable Graphics Method

If your computer supports multiple methods of switching between graphics processors (GPUs), the Switchable Graphics Method page becomes available so that you can choose the method that you want to use. Your selection determines the GPU selection settings that are available in the Switchable Graphics page.

Note: This page is available only on Windows® 7 systems that support multiple methods of Switchable Graphics. For more information, see Switchable Graphics.
In either Standard View or Advanced View, click Power > Switchable Graphics Method.
Tip: For more ways of accessing Switchable Graphics, see Accessing the Switchable Graphics Page.
In the Switchable Graphics Method area, select one of the following selection methods:
Select the graphics processor based on application needs—Known as the "dynamic scheme" in Hotkeys Manager, this method lets you assign applications to a specific GPU. You can improve the performance of certain 3D and video applications by assigning them to the high-performance (discrete) GPU. For more information, see Assigning Applications to GPUs.

When you select this method, a set of 3D application and video settings become available within the Control Center application for each GPU so that you can configure the GPUs individually. For more information, see 3D Settings and Video Settings.

Select the graphics processor manually or based on power source—Known as the "fixed scheme" in Hotkeys Manager, this method lets you assign all graphics responsibilities to a single GPU to maximize power savings or system performance. For more information, see Manually Selecting a GPU and Switching GPUs Based on Power Source.
Click Apply.
Switching between methods may take several seconds.

The settings in the Switchable Graphics page updates based on your selection.

Edit: It is not stable, be careful when you do the switching between manual and auto. From auto to manual, just incurred a temp blank screen but to switch from manual to auto require a restart as the laptop will temporarily lost contact with the 6770. rclxub.gif . I prefer the manual cause although the auto switching is smoother, it can't remember which program uses it after restart.

D@mn, it works for a while but after restart the option suddenly gone.... mad.gif

That number always put you on hold. Just called that. Mine is the same situation too. Under order status, the laptop (together with 3 year care pack) is under shipment although other's status is delivered.
Mine also don't have the mystery gift, but if it is Touch & Go card, then forget it.

Check online, 1 year warranty from factory.
I wonder why we need to wait for the Care Pack registration form when they can just update in into their database with our purchasing particular. rclxub.gif
They should learn this from Dell.

if yes then rest assured, the carepack will be updated.

Stated in the PO, but nothing in the DO. Invoice haven't being received.
Just hope that they can update it without need for me to fill up the registration and fax back to them. Reduce the workload and amount of paper and time needed.

as u purchased direct from HP online store, no need for any additional registration or fax; those are for retail store purchase only.

the carepack will take awhile to reflect but just keep the PO for now.

Hope so, although on the shipment tracking, it did stated that the care pack were ship out together with the laptop.

I think I'll install all of them lar.
Maybe its to fix the dc issue. gah, hope it doesn't make it worse.
But I don't see any Ralink thingy there either. sleep.gif

I just update anything Win 7 said,, sweat.gif

Guys, any game to recommend that will run smoothly on 6770m but hardly on i3000HD? I need to test whether the auto switching and both graphic works.
So far, I can run Dragon Age: Origin smoothly on high detail & 2X AA, but not sure if it run on Intel 3000HD or AMD 6770m.

One day i forgot i was still on HD3000 and start playing Shift 2. I instantly shiat brix with the low framerate i got. Spent 10 mins cracking my brainz thinking what i did to that HD6770M recently that can make Shift 2 literally crawling@10-15 fps. True story.

Thanks guys! Will try it then.

Hi,

Is it possible for this model HP DV6-6001TX  upgrade to maximum 16GB Ram since is the same processor like HP Dv6-6114tx and this model is upgradable maximum ram to 16GB.
*
I don't think you can. The maximum RAM supported is also limited by motherboard design, not just processor. As you can see, 6001TX are using a different motherboard version than 6108TX & possibly 6114TX (This need the owner to post a CPU-Z screen shot).

Anyway, 16Gb maximum RAM is out of reach for most of us for now. By the time 8Gb RAM stick become affordable, you'll probably going to buy a new laptop already.

hey guys..just checked my order status..I ordered it last saturday June 11, and when I checked my order status today, the planned delivery date is listed as 28 September 2011 !

it'll definitely be earlier right....anyone experienced the same thing and the date reverts back to a more "realistic" date
*
What did you order, man? A laptop with 16Gb RAM? Rub your eyes again and look at the screen.
Seriously, never seen that case. Mine were planned in 10 June 2011, but I received it on 9th of June. Most changes in date are within 14 working days form the order.
You better called them to make sure if it is a mistake or they are short of certain component that push the delivery date to 3 months.

Where best place to purchase? Thanks.

I think it will cost you below RM150 for 1 stick of 4G DDR3-1333MHz.
The best place would be Lowyat Plaza. Just bring along your laptop and ask the seller to install for you. Start up your laptop to see if it accepted the new RAM.
