All the 50mm lens are FX lens, no matter what brand

I thought the Sigmalux was DX because I somehow "shadowed" my brain seeing it titled with DX in its name doh.gif

Anyway, we could send our Nikkor lens to NPSC to service, how about Sigma and Tokina? Where are we gonna send them? Do they have service centre in Malaysia? unsure.gif

If not mistaken there's no Tokina service center here, Sigma and Tamron have local dealers
*
I googled and rested on these address:

Audio & PhotoDistributor (F.E.) Sdn Bhd
No. 3-8C (Lots 3-19),
Jalan PJU 8/3A,
Perdana Business Centre (D19),
Bandar Damansara Perdana 47820
Petaling Jaya,Selangor.

Tel:60-3-77100050
Fax:60-3-77103372

This is our local Sigma Service Centre and they do repair + service lens like our NPSC does? unsure.gif

Planning on my next lens than my 18-105 kit on D7K. Still considering whether to pick 35mm f/2D, 50mm f/1.8D, 50mm f/1.4 or wait for the new 50mm f/1.8G if it's coming. 35mm f/1.4 definitely out of my budget.

The metering...

+ ..... | ..... -

To the left mean the photo is underexposed, to the right mean the photo is overexposed. Do we need to enable or disable the metering from the option? Because I'm using A mode on D7K, sometime it appears and sometime it doesn't. However, it seems to appear all the time in M mode? Which setting to always enable it? Please do correct me if I'm wrong unsure.gif

QUOTE(celciuz @ Apr 24 2011, 12:59 PM)
In A or P or S mode it is always metered to balance in the middle. The only time the meter appears is that the camera is not possible to balance it for you. Say for example you shoot in broad day light at f/1.4 and your shutter limit is only 1/8000s. The shutter cannot go any faster to compensate for the overexposure. Then the camera will display the metering.

Or when you use exposure compensation I think it might appear too... (don't really recall :S been using manual most of the time)
*
In the example of situation you given, you mean the camera couldn't go any faster than 1/8000s and couldn't adjust the aperture when shooting in A mode therefore showing up the metering?

The metering only will be displayed when adjustment is required? Please could you elaborate more the usage of the metering? notworthy.gif

You are asking why sometimes in A mode the metering appears and sometimes not right?

I need to double check... but if I remember correctly that is the reason.
*
Yeap, I was wondering why it sometime appear and sometime not nod.gif

If I remember correctly, the metering is positive on the left and negative on the right, thus

+ ..........|.......... -

Still left mean overexposed and right is underexposed?

QUOTE(aldosoesilo @ Apr 24 2011, 03:57 PM)
and you just conclude your doubt tongue.gif
yeah was tempting to own 50 1.8D and having the built in motor. but now no more. maybe for tokina 11-16 only.
it shouldn't be blink blink. green dot has to stay there. if it is blink means it is close to focus.
for metering goes for + sign means more light comes to your sensor (over)
on the other hand for - sign means less light comes to your sensor (under)
*
Actually, I didn't get what you guys were talking about the blink blink thingy. Please enlighten me with it please?

So, it's still to the left mean overexposed and to the right mean underexposed?

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Apr 24 2011, 08:20 PM)
Just remember the + and -
+ = more, means overexpose
- = less, means underexpose

The blink blink thingy is the FOCUS. When you look into the viewfinder, on the BOTTOM LEFT, you will see the BLINK BLINK. When it's IN FOCUS, it will be one green DOT. IF not, it will show arrow left or right, when focusing; Try to change to manual focus, this arrow will GUIDE you to turn the focus ring to focus.
*
Therefore the metering is about light entering the sensor, + is over and - is under. Will note that, thanks nod.gif

I never notice about the green dot and arrow in the viewfinder sweat.gif. Will check it out.

Just had a small chat with my friend and he's saying he failed to get colors out from his photo. He tried VIVID mode, but he finds that AUTO will able to produce the colors even better than VIVID.

What could be the case for his scenario? He's using D7K + 18-105 kit with Kenko UV filter. He did commented that my photos colors are better than his. Well, the only different thing we have is the filter, I'm using Pro1D.

wht the difference between Nikon 35mm f/2D review and nikkor 35mm 1.8?
*
35mm f/2D = FX lens, Aperture Ring on the lens
35mm f/1.8G = DX lens, aperture to be controlled by the body

Should that be it? smile.gif

There's a new firmware released for D7000 and I have not updated mine. I had read the procedures and in summary:

1. Format the MC in camera.
2. Download, extract and copy the firmware into root directory of the MC.
3. Insert the MC into camera and update the firmware.
4. Format the MC in camera and it's ready to shoot again.

I'm wondering, would the image count (image numbering and not shutter count) gets reset when the MC is formatted or the firmware is updated? How about the existing setting of the camera? Would it be overwritten and refreshed therefore need to re-do the settings?

How much is the D5100 body selling now? Does body only available or required to get with the kit lens? I recalled previously some shop eager to take D3000 or D5000 body only stock due to low profitability.

My gf now considering getting D5100 body biggrin.gif

KTCY, you mentioned RM1950 for D5100 body, care to share where to get it? I asked Foto Selangor and they only selling kit lens.

If RM1950 is special price, how much would it be for shop commoner? happy.gif
