Nyway Im currently trying to limit myself from taking another external supply to see if just the USB power is enough.

@Kelvin: Power issue I narrowed down the solution. Change power plan from PERFORMANCE to POWER-SAVING then back again. Relaunch HWInfo and the clocks back to normal. Just put some tape over the fan gap. Trying out ultra settings to see temperatures...

Mine has 2 only. Power-Saver, Balanced and high Performance. How come yours has so many? :/

Manage to finish downloading the extra settings DX-11 + High Texture Tesselation for Crysis 2. After playing for a while with all settings on ULTRA , and the DX-11 + HIGH TEXTURES turned ON, I got these readings for the GPU Temps.

GPU Thermal Diode 80'C
GPU TS0 (DispIO) 80'C
GPU TS1 (MemIO) 85'C
GPU TS2 (Shader) 83.5'C

Which is the MemIO and the Shader section of the GPU Card? Their temps seem higher so thinking if adding padding will help?

After Gaming Crysis 2 on DX-11 + High texture setting for an hour... readings now are:

GPU Thermal Diode 88'C
GPU TS0 (DispIO) 88'C
GPU TS1 (MemIO) 94.5'C
GPU TS2 (Shader) 91'C

These are highest temps reached without notebook cooler at the bottom.

Nice one doc. but this Sandybridge can work on me old M15x or is me Mobo not support :/

If you buy online you can opt for installments using Maybank or Citibank credit cards iirc. Else you make 1 time lumpsum payment. Other methods is via lyplaza sellers which I am not sure of their terms and also sellers here on Lyn.

Can the older mobo support Sandybridge?

BTW, Saw EUROCOM Gaming Notebook specs. 990X Processor and Dual GTX 580M.... Whoa!

Haven't tried bro. Been all week testing and testing and benchmark. Which method did you use to undervolt. Also which Crysis did you play with?
You should try Crysis 2 put at ULTRA Settings for all, and enable DX-11 mode as well as HIGH TEXTURE settings. Both these 2 settings you'll have to download from Crysis 2 site. About 2GB size file.

Extreme is lower than ULTRA. When I was gaming on EXTREME it was ok but ULTRA is pushing the card harder....
Try that and see. You might have to finish the game once first, then download the 2GB extra settings from the CRYTEK website(if you haven't already)




But anyway I agree with your point that the undervolt will reduce temps.

When you have free time you try la, but I assure you that the ATI 6970 can run ULTRA + DX-11 + High Texture quite smoothly. Just that the card will run up the mid to high 80s for me depending whether Im using my cooler or not. Without the cooler it runs hotter of course.

Anyway I will try your undervolt recommendation thanks.

Actually the throttling isn't noticeable. I realise it's when the card gets really really hot then it does. Maybe I should take a look again at the thermal paste Nd the positioning of the pads. Maybe the long pads might have been over stretched or something and not suitable for use anymore. Anyways a forumer abroad mentioned that my issue could be thermal throttling cos the card too hot. High 80s celsius and some parts low 90s celcius might have caused that. Will try with my notebook cooler. Cos normally with that my GPu heat is lower.

I opted for the Coolermaster U3 cos you can position the fans to be directly where you want them. And Added an extra single faster running fan which makes it 4 fans.

Where did you purcjase your IC Diamond? I'm using Artic Cooling MX-2. Thinking of switching paste.

If power supply allows,,, GO FOR IT! Assuming that the M17x-R1 has better cooling than the M15x then the Dual ATI 6990s would be great, but considering power issues etc, its best to start with 6970 Then the fallen shall RISE Again... muahahaha *evil laugh* .....
