Why risk buying cheap license keys which does not come in a retail pack only to find out that your license key gets banned after a while? Honestly I don't think they'll be releasing any free version except for their 30-day free trial. However, basically their yearly license is very affordable, for example if you get 3 friends/family to share the 3 user license pack for Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, it's below RM40 per person only. That's like 10 cents a day for having a genuine legit Kaspersky copy in your computer.

From what I heard from the distributor, those dirt cheap license keys without a retail box are not legally for sale by right. Those unethical sellers usually purchase say a 3 user license pack and then resells it back out to maybe 10-20 people, that seller would have already gained quite a lot of profit by then. As there are many people accessing the update server from a license key, Kaspersky's server detects it and blacklist that particular key. Once blacklisted, everyone who bought a key from this seller will now have a blacklisted key and a not legit Kaspersky copy anymore.

Why risk buying cheap keys when you won't know how many others are probably using the same key purchased from this same unethical seller? OKLY explanation is correct, basically they sell license to many people (not with the box), so example if the license is for 3 users & maybe 10 users is updating their software using the same license for 3 users, then Kaspersky may blacklist that license.

for corporate solutions, we dont normally provide box also; customer need to download it from kaspersky website, install it themselves & then enter the license key provided.

can we discuss this..about those seller that selling the key..

some of the buyer claim that the key they bought valid for a year..and never block..

are those key seller are selling real key? how they obtain that?..

Well, all they did was purchase a retail pack and resell out again at a lower price. Example, they purchase a KIS 2011 for 1 User retail pack and probably they resell it out to about 3 others and they still gain from it. However if the Kaspersky server detects it, it's almost certain that the key will be blacklisted and it will affect those who bought this particular key.

Technically you can't, it's illegal to purchase/sell just the license key alone. Best to purchase a full retail pack for a peace of mind.

No you can't because you will need to provide the receipt as proof of purchase from the authorized dealers/resellers. Even the contest form must have their company stamp.

Sorry, I myself is not a Kaspersky user, like many people we use free antivirus on the internet. Does that mean without a paid anti virus those free anti virus user is more prone to get virus??

Well most free anti-virus to be honest can do its job but it also depends on the user. Some users who are very prone to attacks because a lack of knowledge in this field such as always visiting malicious/phishing websites will be very vulnerable. Kaspersky Internet Security gives me a total protection suite from anti-virus to firewall to other various protections so it's perfect for most people of all categories whether it's a user with a lot of knowledge or not. Not to forget that it is very affordable, say if you have friends/family who wants to get Kaspersky as well, you can opt for the KIS 2011 3 users pack (can be activated on 3 computers), equally dividing it will be less than RM40 per person/user for a year, that's like 10 cents a day to protect your computer!

Kaspersky 2011 was a disaster. But it seems Kaspersky Lab have make amends in Kaspersky 2012. Lighter, faster and more effective.

Recommended to upgrade.

Uninstall before installing the new version.

NOTE : There is currently an issue with the activation. In the mean time, activate the trial first. A fix will be issue by Kaspersky Lab.

It has been launched overseas already, the retail packs have not arrived here in Malaysia yet.

I am using KIS 2012 now so far soo good it's detect new threat very fast i guess because of the Cloud Protection.

Yea I'm also awaiting the retail packs to arrive in Malaysia so that I can purchase the retail pack, I somehow prefer to keep the box.

Activation issue in Kaspersky 2012 is fix. You can now activate it using a prevous key (2011, 2010, 2009)

From what I heard, the 2012 version will be launched locally near Q4 2011.

Hey guys , I was wondering , whats the difference between the anti virus version and the internet security? normally when I buy its just for one year right? If i purchase a 3 user package , can I use it for 3 years for 1 user instead?

Difference is antiviurs dont have the above feature.

A 3 user pack is to be install in 3 computers NOT 3 years. Malaysia dont sell 3 years. Unless you buy from their site.

Official. Not beta. But it is not launch in Malaysia yet. No retail pack. You can use 2012 version if you have a valid 2011 key. You can check out on Kaspersky Website.

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of content and threat management solutions providing protection against malware, hackers and spam, has announced that Kaspersky Internet Security has been ranked as one of the most effective security solutions in AV-Test.org’s independent testing in the second quarter of 2011. Notable in this round of regular comparative testing by the reputable German independent research center is the first appearance of Kaspersky Internet Security 2012.

The rankings for the second quarter of 2011 bring together three sets of monthly test results for 22 security products in April, May and June. All products undergo several tests, including real-world, dynamic, and malicious software removal testing. The final score also reflects an evaluation of the efficiency of products’ use of system resources and the number of false positive detections of legitimate software. Of the 22 products tested, only 15 received sufficient marks to be granted certification, and Kaspersky Internet Security received among the highest ratings - with 16 points out of a total of 18.

Results specifically for Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 are outstanding: the product got a 100% result in both the real world and dynamic detection testing (with the industry averages being 81% and 65%, respectively). It also detected all 10,224 samples of widespread malware. Only one false positive detection was reported during a scan of around 700,000 samples of legitimate files. In the test on the removal of malicious programs, Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 removed 83% of the deliberately hidden active malware - compared to the 44% average.

Nikita Shvetsov, Director of Anti-Malware Research at Kaspersky Lab, said: “We are very pleased with the results of the quarterly independent testing, which not only proves the efficiency of Kaspersky Internet Security in various real-world user scenarios, but also shows the stability of the results from month to month. The high score obtained by the product indicates that we are on the right track with our cloud-supported hybrid protection approach, which provides optimal effectiveness in detecting and removing malicious software”.

My KIS 2011 left with 30 days only.
Will get KIS 2012 and use for free 1 month first.
Hopefully by that time, KIS 2012 already available at Malaysia.

i just bought kaspersky 2012, before i install it got some questions,

desktop hardware bought & i install the programs myself but not the originalla... dnt knw what it means, basically my hubby's desktop.
existing crashed, so he just bought the cpu but got his friend to install the internal things but seems that if i wanna browse the net, virus may kena & crash again... so i bought the license to install.

Question - do i need to add on any other programs to support browsing. with the new cpu i havent tried browsing yet cos if crash again my hubby angry since it's his work pc. last time crash, cannot save all his doc's, damn frustla.......

so pls help to advise accordingly. thanks.

so now u bought ori, just install & update frequently for the latest signature. scan & clean it. once done, restart it.

no need add any program.

Well, how to explain, if they resell to 3 others, 3 of them also get different expired date for the license key. If like that, I buy 1 retail box, I can reactivate everything I format my pc. But what happen is it will resume the date when I activated.

Not really logic for this

Maybe it just varies on few days based on 1st activation date.

i am using KIS 2012, and i purchase KIS 2012 3 users lisence. i get the activation key from the seller. and it remaining 32x days.
i forget to deactivate my lisence key before i format my computer. but i remembered i deleted my lisence b4 i format my computer.
after format, i reinstall the KIS 2012, when i enter my activation key. it show number of activations code has been exceeded.

+1, I never look back on other AV since I use Bitdefender 3 or 4 years ago. The real time scan never slow down your PC.
