ok, so you normally use which type of top coat? semi-gloss, gloss or flat?

depends which kind of surface u like
gloss for shiny surface making your gundam look sparkling new
flat for dull n rough surface to make your gundam look realistic
semi-gloss... not to shiny not too dull?

Well, Koto is making model of characters from 1997 Though I prefer their kits over Hagesawa's mainly because they separate the parts by color and generally has tough durable plastic.
The Feiyen Knight kit is great, btw. What sets it apart from the Hagesawa Feis is that the Koto Fei has a hip joint and is technically safer to play around with.

can Tamiya Compound do the glossy?

compound will be way too hardwork n expensive way to get gloss finish, LOL

seeing this major fleet just brings a torrent of emotion to me......

Compound I'd to aide you in acheiving a gloss finish. It should go like this

Gloss coat> coarse compount > fine > finish

gloss coat should be a thicker coat, as essentially, compound is like a very high grit sandpaper.
