As the world's biggest and richest club, Manchester United reach a global fanbase.

Part of the attraction for fans around the world has been the football luminaries, such as George Best and Sir Bobby Charlton, who have graced the Old Trafford turf in a Manchester United shirt over the years.

Recently, Manchester United have continued to attract or develop some of the game's biggest names, with England stalwarts such as Paul Scholes and David Beckham having been regular fixtures in the Reds line-up.

The Manchester United team, past and present, reads like a who's who of world football.

It is only fitting that a great team should grace a great stadium. And with Old Trafford's recent development and the closure of Wembley, the ground is easily the largest in English football, holding in excess of 60,000 fans.

Despite this capacity, the demand to see United in action is so great that tickets are hard to come by.

But it isn't only Manchester United fans who flock to Old Trafford. The standard of the ground is such that it regularly hosts high-profile games, most notably, the Champions League Final and Great Britain rugby league games.

Rock fans have also made use of the Reds's facilities, watching a number of high-profile acts at the ground.

But it's football that will forever be synonymous with the Reds famous ground - and with good reason.

The last decade has seen Manchester United under the shrewd leadership of Sir Alex Ferguson maintain a virtual stranglehold on the Premiership crown.

Manchester United has won the league no fewer than 18 times in their history. They are also Cup Kings too, winning the FA cup 11 times, the league cup 4 times, as well as winning the European Super Cup, European Cup Winner's Cup, and 3 times being crowned European Cup champions.

Manchester United has long become a name associated with success both on and off the pitch.

As club profits continue to grow, Manchester United have become one of the richest sports clubs on the planet.

With supporters club branches on every continent, it's hard to go any where in the world and not see somebody wearing the famous red shirt of Manchester United.

QUOTE(zenix @ Nov 24 2009, 09:18 PM)
Hope Alien will sticky this info later.
Though written in 2006 so no Roy Keane yet.

Ex-United players that have moved on to become managers.

Written by Simon Stone (MARCH 22, 2006)

STEVE BRUCE (1987-1996): Took his first steps in management with Sheffield United in 1998, then swiftly moved on to Huddersfield, Wigan and Crystal Palace. Left Selhurst Park in acrimonious fashion after Birmingham targeted him as the replacement for Trevor Francis in 1991. Took Blues into the Premier League but after a heavy FA Cup defeat is struggling to keep his job.

MARTIN POWELL (1971-1983): Stylish and well-respected Scotland centre-half whose authoritative nature appeared to make him a natural for the management game. Lasted four months at Burnley.

SIR BOBBY CHARLTON (1956-1973): Arguably the finest English player of all time proved to be an unmitigated disaster as a manager. Claimed he was not given the resources to make a decent job of it at Preston but was never lured back into management following his departure after a single season.

STEVE COPPELL (1975-1983): After a knee injury cut his playing career short at just 28, Coppell turned his attention to management. Steered Crystal Palace into the FA Cup final and then third place in the old First Division - the Eagles' highest ever - the following season. It was the first of four stints in charge at Selhurst Park in a career which has seen him move to Manchester City (for only six games), Brentford and Brighton. Now at Reading and about to steer the Royals into the top flight for the first time.

PADDY CRERAND (1962-1971): A key figure in United's 1968 European Cup triumph, Crerand lasted five months at Northampton before getting the bullet and, like Charlton, never managed again.

MARK HUGHES (1983-86, 1988-95): Hughes was never tipped as a manager by Ferguson but has taken to the game with ease. Took Wales into the Euro 2004 play-offs. Took over at Blackburn shortly afterwards, steering Rovers away from danger in his first season. Currently in contention for a Champions League spot.

BRIAN KIDD (1967-1974): Another European Cup winner who proved to be a poor manager. Got itchy feet in 1998 after spending seven years as Sir Alex Ferguson's highly-rated assistant. Took command at Blackburn but dismissed six months later.

BRYAN ROBSON (1981-94): United's inspirational leader under Ron Atkinson and Ferguson. There are two schools of thought on his stint at Middlesbrough - he either spent lots and achieved little (relegation and two losing finals) or he laid the platform for the Teessiders to become an established Premiership outfit. Kept West Brom up in extraordinary fashion last year but back in trouble again this season.

GORDON STRACHAN (1984-89): Scotland international who won the FA Cup with United and the title of the pre-Premiership era with Leeds. Sacked after five years at when the Sky Blues lost top-flight status, then enjoyed success at Southampton - reaching the 2003 Cup final - before resigning to spend more time with his family. Now at Celtic, has recovered from a humiliating Champions League exit to Artmedia Bratislava, and, after winning his first trophy on Sunday in the CIS Insurance Cup, is set to clinch the Scottish Premier League.

NOBBY STILES (1960-71): Along with Charlton, one of only two Englishmen to have won the World Cup and European Cup, he replaced his former England and United team-mate at Preston, with limited success. After a brief stint in Vancouver, returned to England to take over as manager of West Brom. Sacked after five months, having gained just three wins.

Hi alien, I uploaded the Scholes Centurion video (a compilation of all 100 goals he scored throughout his career in Man United).

If it's allowed, I thought why not share with other forummers by posting the link in the first few posts. The link is : http://rapidshare.com/files/367460321/PS_Cntrn1x0.rar =)

Edit (08 Nov 2010): Looks like the link is no longer working (thx to sinoffire for notifying) so I reuploaded the video to a new link:

No one knows the team better than SAF. I have my trust in him. He's resting players ahead of the UCL.

MAN UTD v EVERTON TEAM NEWS
Jonathan Stevenson reports: "Sir Alex Ferguson makes five changes to the Manchester United team, with captain Nemanja Vidic among those rested ahead of Tuesday's Champions League semi-final first leg against Schalke in Germany. Fabio, Darron Gibson and Jonny Evans get chances to impress, while Rio Ferdinand and Antonio Valencia are restored to the XI. Everton bring in Seamus Coleman and rumoured-to-be-a-United-target Jack Rodwell, with Johnny Heitinga injured and Magaye Gueye dropping to the bench."

I have more confidence in Evans when Rio is playing because it is always him instead of Vidic that commands Evans around. So hopefully it will be the same like the first season when Evans impressed!

no, i think it was Berba's against Bolton last month was more significant. We have lost to Chelsea and Pool, and that victory was a saver just like 2009. we have lost to Pool 1-4, and Fulham 0-2 and that Macheda magic won us 3 points and we cruised to the title..

Nice substitutions.

1. O'Shea was good defensively but going forward, he was either not confident enough to go near the line and cross, or a bit slow to be of any use up front.

2. Nani, the usual I guess. Plus his crosses were below par.

3. Gibson, like I mentioned earlier, was MIA for plenty of the minutes he was on the field.

4. Evra brought with him what O'Shea didn't - speed and crosses/passes into the middle of the opposition penalty box.

5. Owen. It didn't work instantly to be honest but he got better as more minutes passed since his introduction. Perhaps it was also due to the fact that only one central midfielder was proactive and making forward passes.

6. Giggs' introduction meant business was fully up and running in the middle of the park.

As for the goal, to be honest I wasn't sure whether the ball went in or it was brushing against the side wrong side of the net as it was an impossible angle. Needed the players' reaction to confirm it was a goal. Nice one, Chicharito smile.gif

We needed this win after what happened during midweek and after looking at our next four fixtures. Time to give it all we've got from here on out.

congrats to the team for the win. it was a crucial win for us. the commentator kept saying that he had a feeling that we will score which we did. Everton defended brilliantly especially Jagielka but as usual, Chicharito eye and movement for goal paid off. this season, we might have lose the fluid football we used to play but we never lose our will to win.

We DOMI-DAMN-NATED the second half and it was just a matter of time, and i shouted like a crazy mofo the moment the header went in!

Today 90% of our crosses, both floated and drilled, dropped at an Everton player. We were very unlucky in that sense but what domination we showed in the 2nd half man.

Great result for us biggrin.gif

Boss: I knew win would come

QUOTE
Sir Alex Ferguson's faith in his team was repaid once again on Easter Saturday when Javier Hernandez scored United's trademark late winner at the Stretford End.

A damaging 0-0 draw was on the cards as the Everton players - in particular centre-back Phil Jagielka and former Reds goalkeeper Tim Howard - continually thwarted Chicharito, Wayne Rooney and company. But the United manager always felt the victory would come as his side chased it all the way in the club's hallmark manner.

"I could feel the goal coming," Sir Alex told MUTV. "We had the momentum and the crowd was up. When the crowd gets going, it sucks the ball in.

"Today's game was tricky. Everton are very resilient and some of their defending was fantastic today. Their goalkeeper and two centre-backs were absolutely brilliant. We had shots blocked near the line, some misses and the goalkeeper made two or three great saves.

"Our decision making wasn’t up to scratch in the first half, when we had some great openings, and we could have had the game finished by half-time. But in the time-honoured fashion of Manchester United, we don’t do that. We wait to the very end. It keeps everyone hanging and on the edge of their seat, but we get there.

"You say to yourself, ‘It’s going to be another late one here.’ You can just smell the history of the club and so it was to be.

"The important thing is we never gave up. We took gambles, we took risks. We put Wayne Rooney in the middle of the pitch, we brought Ryan Giggs on, Michael Owen on. Jonny Evans has not had many games, neither has Fabio, but they both saw it through and showed great resilience and determination to get through it.

"It was a fantastic performance by the lads in the way they kept going against a good Everton team. I think we can be very pleased today. We’ve got the result we want."

Not for the first time this season, Sir Alex paid tribute to the attitude and ability of Chicharito, United's match winner - and the talent of the man who created his goal, Antonio Valencia.

"Chicharito has done better than everyone expected in his first year because we thought he would just get used to the English game and get strengthened up," said Sir Alex. "But he’s passed all those tests. He’s first in at nine o’clock in the morning and he’s the last one to leave. He’s a truly dedicated boy.

"Valencia was fantastic again today. It's a real bonus to get a fresh player like him at this time of the season."

good game, penetration was good, defending was good, only that "nicking" ability in the final 3rd was limited due to a superb defence from the toffees.

but all in believe!!!we never bak down and keep on pushing!.

michal owen :@piersmorgan very observant of you. Better to play 25 mins in a good team rather that playing 90 mins every week in a struggling team.

I thought Michael Owen was smart in creating his own space. Gave the defenders doubts to guard him or follow the other striker who was accelerating into the box...

Added on April 24, 2011, 8:51 amIt's all in our hand btw... Arsenal and Chelsea game will be very decisize.. Hope the players would all be fit for the encounters as Arsenal and Chelsea has the advantage of not playing in the Champions League..

Man United vs Everton Player Ratings

Kelvin Tan was impressed by a magical Javier Hernandez, who popped up with the winner in Manchester United's 1-0 win over Everton.

QUOTE
Man United

Edwin van der Sar: 8

This is the sign of a top class keeper- the ability to keep his concentration at all times. VDS was just such a rock for the United defence.

Jonathan Evans:6

Somehow the Evans-Ferdinand partnership doesn't seem to really convince. Sadly, the defender is simply not good enough to fill Nemanja Vidic's boots.

Rio Ferdinand:7

Showed a moment of hesitation in the second half to almost gift Everton a penalty, but fortunately the referee thought otherwise.

Fabio:7

The young full-back's exuberance and energy was contagious, and the Brazilian was charging forward at every opportunity to try to catch Everton on the break.

John O'Shea (Off 58'):5

Looked a tad tired throughout the game.

Anderson: 6

Looked abit tired in the second half, and perhaps the game against Newcastle was starting to show on United's tired legs.

Darron Gibson (Off 74'):5

I'm not really sure what Gibson brings to this side- he seems to have the same brief as Michael Carrick, but the trouble is, the youngster doesn't seem to do as well in the same position. Clearly missing some confidence, and could use a few run of games, should United wrap up the title early.

Nani (Off 63'):6

Shot when he should have passed on several occasions in the first half

Antonio Valencia:8

Showed strength and aggression to almost help United to the lead in the first half, but for the heel of Hernandez. Exceptional throughout.

Wayne Rooney:7

His new-found ability to drop deep and pick up the ball to combine with either Valencia or Nani is proving to be a boon for Manchester United, and he showed it off on several occasions in the first half

Javier Hernandez:9

Clearly read to become the main man at Old Trafford, the Mexican showed his confidence with several well-timed runs and lurked the Everton defensive line with intent. Was finally rewarded in the second half with an inch-perfect headed to the top right hand post that Howard could do little about.

Subs

Michael Owen (On 63'):4

The Englishman scuffed his shot but still managed to hit the post. That's certainly a skill. Apart from that, looked more like a spectator than a player on the pitch.

Ryan Giggs (On 74'): 7

Once again, the United talisman made the difference, streamlining their attacks after coming on.

Patrice Evra( On 58'): 6

Did well to shore up the United defence when he came on.

nce but failed.

About to ask the same question. Anything below 5 is like a negative number. I don't recall him playing that bad. And:

QUOTE

Generally, yes and infact, i think Evans - Ferdinand is better than Evans - Vidic, but in this game, he didn't play that bad lah. Quiet convincing i must say.

What the, did Gibson play really that bad? Really? If got replay, just focus on him, see how many flick he did, he pass, he did well, but even that, defensively he sucks. big time.

Owen also link well with the game play, he did reasonable job, he tracks back, he attack the ball, if O'Shea got better rating than him I don't know how to rate players on the pitch dah nowadays.

well anyhow, it's not a very good decision to visit other thread atm, whatever we do people will always see us as troller, even we clearly intend to discuss with facts. if you guys wanted to share facts with them, you should know 1 more facts

that MOST OF THEM cannot discuss with us Manchester United fan, but instead seems more interested in flamming each other and joining the ABUs and "discussing" with fan of other team that before this cursing their own ex player.

Eventhough, we're clearly on a better term, and welcome whoever posters from whatever clubs wanted to discuss here.

All they have in their eyes are hatred. It won't go just like that, to them, United fans are a bunch of ass, instead of thinking that we're a fan on our own team, what's the different?

jealousy brah...they cant stand us winning, enjoying success etc eventhough the league has not even been decided, hence the word ABU? it's like kings lowering their status and communicate normal peasants in their language, and peasants get annoyed by that...okay that's a bit too over, not a good comparison tongue.gif they talk about bad posters in our thread while they dont condemn those in theirs, bloody hypocrites summore...

I rmb when I just came here I did no trolling, then came those troll banters here and there when there is none...So I thought to myself, heck if you'd like to use it that much, why not make it true? whistling.gif and some get butthurt and start complain instead of reporting pulak, ohh kesian them

rating numbers ony ma, since we played well and got the pts every one deserves high scores.some where along the lines like if you score 1 you win get 3pts and even if score more then one and win its still 3 pts smile.gif

Yeah those ratings are subjective numbers. As opposed to real numbers like the number of goals scored in a season, still butthurt chelsea fan says Berba undeserved to win the Golden Boot. Then chicken away with nothing to back up his stupid statement rolleyes.gif

i'm sorry but i dont agree with u

u dont call any statement as stupid. we also do not like people to talk about ballotelli, how undeserved samir nasri etc etc over here.

we shud respect any teams participating instead of 'trying to protect our players' in other threads

it wont work. believe me nod.gif

I guess u never go in other threads and have a look what kind of words they use on the statement we provide? Those words even more rude than "stupid" this word if you really does go in and have a look. However, please la,want reply then use your real account, no point to use dupe account to reply. laugh.gif And another word, "RESPECT". Oh my, we been hear this word thousand times in LYN. I guess another lecturer want to give us a lecture on "RESPECT" this word again.laugh.gif

If the statement is not stupid, then by all means back it up.
This is an internet discussion forum.
I'm not protecting our players, that is also why I don't like to post in other threads.

honestly we never, and I mean NEVER say Nasri doesnt deserve nomination...duno need repeat how many times ler...we just disagree with how Nani's contribution is overlooked, hence the Nasri comparison

sometimes we only wanted to join other threads in discussion, just like others who want to join discussion in our thread, we welcome them regardless of who they are what they did or what their avatar is ffs...of coz most of the times we dont disagree with them but we did it in a mannerly way, and we get labelled as trolls, until the extent some of us(me in particular) dont bother doing that again...and when you spout some ridiculous statement like Berba undeserved golden boot fullstop without backing, it is a stupid statement

Unfortunately, some fans will treat you as a troll even when you are not trolling. Just some people somewhat cannot accept rivals fans commenting about their team and players. What more if it is done by a manchester united fan, you know in this forum, people are so prejudiced towards manutd fans. It is fair to say, every clubs has the good and bad fans not only manchester united. I know some arrogant fans(not manutd fans) who thinks they are better than others as well. They only make judgements on others, not themselves. well nevermind, we should just conduct discussions only among MUST, maybe.

Some prick who thinks he/she is good enough to judge berbatov and hernandez when i doubt he /she had watch most of their games. rclxms.gif

No, they are asking ME. Not the person who mentioned the issue but ME.

Oh and also YOU. and every single MU fans here.

When you can't even use your brain to determine that there are different posters here, and instead of countering that 1 poster you go and bash EVERY SINGLE PERSON coz of your inability to differentiate 1 person to the other, then there's only 1 word to call that person: fickle minded.

He should go expose himself to RAWK and Bluemoon lol. For those who're interested in a healthy discussion, maybe in FL someone should start an open thread where all fans who're interested in getting a good discussion gather. So no one will get labelled pulis troll annoyer lalat etc etc.

But I bet that guy will spamming that thread like mad if it become reality laugh.gif

What is MUFC all about? FA + Referees + Linesmen are on our side. We escape bans all the time, never get yellow/red cards. SAF is free to talk all he wants.

Come on, guys. It's pretty obvious why we shouldn't post in other thread. Same thing will happen over and over again. They will consider you trolling, and vice versa. Story never ends. And that City thread? Wonder why some of us still posting there. That guy got nothing rational to say about football.

Just be patient, and hopefully come May, we'll have the last laugh.

Fergie ready to end German hoodoo

QUOTE
Sir Alex Ferguson insists Manchester United are ready to end their run of Champions League exits at the hands of German clubs, as the Premier League leaders prepare to face Schalke in this season's semi-final first leg on Tuesday.

Ferguson's side have suffered knockout defeats against Bayern Munich (twice), Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen in recent memory - with the latter two both ending United's Champions League dream at the semi-final stage, in 1997 and 2002 respectively.

Most recently, Bayern knocked United out of last season's competition en route to the final, triumphing on away goals after winning 2-1 in Munich and losing 3-2 at Old Trafford.

United do, of course, also have fond memories of facing German opposition having beaten Bayern in dramatic circumstances in the 1999 final, while they also defeated Wolfsburg home and away last season.

And Ferguson believes United are fully equipped to exorcise their German knockout demons when they line up against Ralf Ragnick's Schalke at Veltins Arena on Tuesday.

"We've not had a great record against Bayern from the 99 season. We drew twice in the group stages and beat them in the final," Ferguson said.

"We were very unlucky against Leverkusen, we should have seen them off and we were very unlucky against Dortmund but you can't always be unlucky and sometimes it'll change for you. The German teams have always had that resilience and determination about them and that will be exactly the same on Tuesday night.

"We're going into this game with far more experience than we have in previous years and our record away from home in the last few years has been terrific."

Schalke's line will be led by three-time European Cup winner Raul, who recently revealed that United were interested in his services when he was leaving Real Madrid last summer.

And Ferguson confirmed that he had considered signing the veteran Spain striker, who is the Champions Laague's all-time leading scorer in the Champions League with 71 goals.

"We spoke to his agent or his agent spoke to us and we were a little bit tempted because you said to yourself 'He's not too old that he can't score a goal in the Premier League," Ferguson said.

"His time at Real had come to an end after a fantastic career but players like that always find something in terms of ambition, they don't just wither away, and at his age he had plenty to do, plenty to offer.

"It would have been [a Henrik Larsson-type signing]. You get opportunities with experience like that like we did with Michael Owen and Michael Owen has been a fantastic professional here. They bring value to the team, bring experience and I think if I didn't have Michael Owen I might have been tempted.

"Raul is Raul and you've got to be careful in the last third of the field because he's still got the intelligence and a fantastic goal record. It's 71 in the Champions League? Bloody hell, I hope it stays that way for the next three weeks."

Valencia: Title triumph would cap recovery

QUOTE
Antonio Valencia wants to win the Premier League and erase the memory of the horror injury he sustained on Manchester United duty.

Valencia spent six months on the sidelines after dislocating his ankle in the Champions League encounter with Rangers at Old Trafford.

As the South American was stretchered off, requiring oxygen to ease his obvious pain, it was feared he would not play again this season.

However, by following medical advice, Valencia was able to return in the middle of last month.

And although the former Wigan man accepts he still has some work to do in order to rediscover his best form, he has still turned in a series of excellent performances in United's pursuit of silverware.

The 25-year-old created the winner for Javier Hernandez against Everton at Old Trafford yesterday which means United now require just seven points from four games to clinch a record 19th league title.

And for Valencia, that would be adequate compensation for what he has been through.

"It would be brilliant to win the league," he told United Review. "On a personal level, to lift the title for the first time would be the perfect way for me to cap my recovery from injury.

"It is something I have set my sights on."

Valencia is still three games short of making the 10 appearances needed to qualify for a medal automatically.

As United are currently combining their title quest with trying to reach the Champions League final, it is not certain Valencia will reach that number.

However, given the length of his absence, the Premier League would almost certainly sanction a medal being awarded to the Ecuador star.

"All injuries make you feel a little bit down at first, but I had the support of so many people it was easy to keep my spirits up," he said.

"My comeback has gone pretty well considering how bad the injury was.

"But I still need to work on a few areas before I am back to how I was before."

Source

This guy have the spirit!
although in my personal opinion he's not good enough compared to the moment before the injury, but he work so hard to really back in form...just look at him in Everton's game...one thing i realized he always wait for the ball to come to his feet so defenders can easily intercept his ball...else, he still the man that always give defenders headache...just my opinion...

Chicharito salutes United team ethic

QUOTE
Manchester United hitman Javier Hernandez has identified determination and work rate as the traits that saw them beat Everton 1-0 on Saturday.

For most of the match, United looked to be heading to a second straight draw, with Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard in inspired form.

United also struggled to break down the partnership of Sylvain Distin and Phil Jagielka at the heart of the Everton defence.

However, Hernandez, as he has done on many occasions in his debut season, popped up with an important goal in the 83rd minute to give United a hard-earned victory, and more importantly, three valuable points.

Speaking after the game, Hernandez stressed the importance of persistence, having already been denied twice by brilliant saves from Howard, before he found the breakthrough.

"There was a little bit of frustration but you need to keep going in the next play, and the next, and the next," Hernandez said on MUTV.

"You can't stay there only thinking 'I missed it', you need to be ready for the next one."

Hernandez was also quick to draw attention away from himself, instead choosing to salute United's work ethic.

"For 90 minutes we kept going and kept going because we wanted the goal, wanted the three points as soon as possible."

"We keep going, keep working and it was a difficult day also because it was hotter and that made us a little bit more tired."

"But the history of Manchester United is like this - we can score in the first minute and also the last minute."

With United facing Schalke in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday, as well as two potentially pivotal clashes against Arsenal and Chelsea in the next two weeks, Hernandez insisted United had only been focused on Everton before Saturday's game.

"It's the only thing we have in our mind and thankfully we got it [the win]."

"It's unbelievable because we know the importance of these three points because we need to get all the points we possibly can."

Hernandez admitted the next fortnight would be extremely crucial for his team, and stressed the importance to put the team ahead of their individual selves.

"This is the key part of the season, we have Schalke then the two games against Arsenal and Chelsea."

"It doesn't matter who scores."

"We think always that the team is the most important thing."

"We don't need to be selfish and think only of scoring."

Hernandez has been a relevation in his first season at Old Trafford, with his winner against Everton being his 19th of the campaign, a significant contribution from a player who only cost Sir Alex Ferguson a reported £6million.

What else can we say about this guy?

Well owen, fabio and valencia will probably be given a medal after consideration, especially Fabio who did play a big role this season. i can hardly believe he only played 8 times, including sub apeparances!

I further checked wiki, the oldest player to get a EPL Champions medal is David Seaman at 38 yo. If we win this season it would be VDS.

The youngest now is Gael clichy, 18yo 297 days. Anybody from our squad currently younger than that?

add to that, he's a manchester lad too, one club man until now and hopefully until he retires..i really do feel for him, honestly...Can never forget how reliable he was particularly at right back in the 07-08 season, if not for the fallout(rumoured, likely true) with SAF he could have played more...

Brown was my fav defender back in the early 2000s...i did post something about how little he actually played for the club, even less than JOS who are more of a backup player. Not that he is lousy anyway, in fact i believe if he continues his CB partnership with Rio throughout the mid 2000s, we wouldnt have bought Vidic!

shocking stats...some how felt like they all palyed more times then the numbers show maybe not owen but the likes of fabio and brown certainly.

anywho is there any stone cold criteria for medals??i know more then 10 min of sub appearance is considered as 1 appearance but i think the likes of brown, valencia, fabio and owen will get a medal.

dont really bother, God knows how many times I've said it to them long time ago and they dont seem to care, same goes to pool and ski threads..so yeah since they insist on using it, then they can use that term all they want and i can use them too..who cares if we are called hypocrites? we all are anyway

yup, i have same feeling as you. Honestly i didn't expect Arsenal to win anything this season. Last time i get so frustrated was 3-2 lost to Hotspur last year. I'm not lying, i got a nightmare that night after that match while sleeping. Then, i keep thinking "okay i need to calm down, in reality i gain nothing if they win or not". But i pity those fans who went to the stadium each week, busted their @ss and hard earn money to go see their favourite team playing.

Haha chill la guys, have a bit of fun with it then let it go.God knows everyone else does that to us even when we draw a game, let alone lose.

I know this sounds annoying but the season isn't even close to being over. I don't even consider us having a 6 point lead. I consider it as us being on equal points with both Chel and Ars,so that makes every game a must win. Call me a pessimist, but i prefer it that way smile.gif

The biggest factor is the kids. Wenger seriously need to rethink to change his policy. I don't think it will ever worked la seriously. Like last time we played in Carling Cup where we fielded young player into the team, and we failed badly. If it is continue in the long run, we are pretty much in the same situation like Arsenal.

found this at the arsenal theard

Reporter: What is your comment for the lost.
AW:We should scored a couple goals, we should won the game easily. But we just unlucky not to score.
Reporter: Fans are getting frustrating being 6 years winning nothing, any words to our fans?
AW: We are getting stronger each season, look at our lads, they just 23yrs old squad, believe me, I won't spending money in the summer nor any players will leave us. I LOL that we have 40M to spend, but we really dont have to spend (we can just sell players for transfer fund if we want). My final thoughts to our fans, trust me, or fck off! whistling.gif

if your compare the players dat arsenal have now and the invincibles (arsenal squad 2003/2004), i think the level of maturity between these 2 squads are vast
we always struggle when we r under pressure, keep doing mistakes dat cost us the game, not to mention the carling cup laugh.gif

A potential Torres-Sturridge combo next season at Chelsea could be interesting.

Btw Arsenal fans here should ask CBP to analyse why many Bolton players got away with hard tackle. I think that's why they lose.

anyway, Cohen's celebration caught my attention...emotional, must have a lot of things running thru his mind after he scored...

well the game is at your home turf, so anything can happen there, a win for you guys(touch wood) wouldnt be classified as an upset methinks although we did win there last season

i do feel arsene will make significant changes to next season now, this wake up call should be his largest one to date...cesc is likely to leave, so no more excuses for him not to sign quality and experienced players...if he still doesnt, then i guess the board will do somethg

i know that too, and i bet if they see what i posted they will ay i am acting houlier-than-thou and pretend to be angel rolleyes.gif but oh well.

Anyway i do hope we are meeting an Arsenal with very low morale at Emirates, and it would probably be helpful if their own fans boo them in Emirates due to recent poor performances. Considering our away form we need every "help" we can get.

But before that got Away at Schalke! cool2.gif

QUOTE
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger on his side's last-gasp defeat at Bolton: "It is difficult to swallow the way we lost. We gave everything we had left today. We had chances to win it but didn't take it and in the end we were caught in the way we feared today, from a corner. The week we have just had summed up our season - lots of quality in our game on Sunday, Wednesday and today but not enough rewards for our effort. And on their title hopes: "Our chances are very minimal, that is for sure."

More from Wenger, on mounting criticism of his approach: "If you can prove my principles are wrong, I am ready to change them all. Conceding a goal from a corner in the last minute is not enough to convince me." And is there silverware to come from his side in the future: "There is. You will see, that is without a doubt. If there is someone to blame, it's me. The players have been outstanding all season."

Bolton boss Owen Coyle on his side's battling display and last-gasp win over Arsenal: "I think everyone knows how bad we felt after the FA Cup semi-final and it was important we showed our character today - and we did that. We dealt Arsenal's title hopes a big blow but more important for us was our performance. I think we showed the real Bolton Wanderers today and went a long way to putting the smile back on our fans' faces."

Bolton striker Daniel Sturridge after his side's win over Arsenal: "After last week, we wanted to show the fans we had the passion to prove to them that was just one bad day. I have done my team Chelsea a favour today but I came out here to work for Bolton and their fans."

just about to post their game, on a schalke related bit of news i think they have rested some big names and thus the lost.also were not the only ones facing a big game after the cl midweek.our opponents will be travelling to bayern although they have no say in the league its still a big game.

but we also rested quite a number of players for that one.scholes will be solid fresh for both game with his suspension, giggs had a good run yesterday, evra got his rest and the ones who didnt play last night.

on the basis of keeping chicha on the spring berbs should start this one along side rooney and scholes is a must. got a feeling his frustration will need to be channelled some where.

There are pros and cons for the Schalke defeated in their last game. Pros is they rest most of the first team players against us. Cons is defeat will cause their morale drop. Let's fight for the best biggrin.gif

Bloody hell, I hope it stays that way for the next three weeks."

no wonder city thread never falls to second page again... he is replying himself all the way... That guy arh... bloody selective minded... Only remember Keane and Scholes fouls.. When CIty player got caught for abusive substance, instead of voicing out disappointment, he blast all the other player. Condemn others... ==" And he always condemn his own players only when they are not those important figures... De Jong, oh come on, theres like another 3 player waiting to replace him... Imagine if Tevez was the one who was called a thug.. I'd chop my head if he didn't defend him with his life

Anyway, back to what i really came for.... NOW its up to ManUtd and Chelsea!! The game against Chelsea and the one at Emirates, still crucial! Oh Manchester United, u're playing at Old Trafford against Chelsea this time, show them the HOME FORM! biggrin.gif

my pal told me this morning, spooky facts about Rafael-Fabio.. a bit of slow poke..

both players already scored 2 goals each for United..

Rafael> Arsenal away, Wigan home.. both using left foot..
Fabio> Wigan away, Arsenal home.. both using right foot..

mirror.. mirror..

glad to see Fabio able to finish full 90min.. Rafael seem ready and fit enough. Oshea might get minor injury. but all others defender are fit and ready to tuck in..

Some of these arsenal fans are really a fickle bunch. They want to get rid of Wenger when he has done a lot for them. Reminds me of some our own fans who wanted Fergie out during our little dry spell that saw the emergence of Chelsea

Hopefully, spurs will do us another favor this weekend. Eventhough we're 9 points clear above arsenal, anything can still happen since we will be playing arsenal and chelsea after this. Both team will still be pressuring us, especially chelsea. Hopefully spurs can do us another favor.

you're right. won't have the guard of honor but if we have a 7 point gap prior to the Chelsea game, we could lift the trophy in OT even with a draw.

Berbatov misses Schalke trip

QUOTE
Dimitar Berbatov has not travelled with the United squad for Tuesday night's Champions League semi-final with Schalke.

The Premier League's top goalscorer has had a groin problem and sat out the draw at Newcastle and Saturday's victory over Everton.

Midfielders Darren Fletcher and Owen Hargreaves remain unavailable and Bebe also misses out.

However, John O'Shea took his place on the plane despite leaving the field with an injury against the Toffees and a third goalkeeper has still to be confirmed.

Squad: Edwin van der Sar, Tomasz Kuszczak; Patrice Evra, Wes Brown, Chris Smalling, Rio Ferdinand, John O'Shea, Jonny Evans, Nemanja Vidic, Fabio, Rafael; Anderson, Ryan Giggs, Ji-sung Park, Michael Carrick, Nani, Paul Scholes, Antonio Valencia, Gabriel Obertan, Darron Gibson; Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez.

Metzelder identifies Rooney threat

QUOTE
Schalke defender Christoph Metzelder has put a target firmly on Wayne Rooney's back ahead of Manchester United's Champions League semi-final first leg visit to Germany on Tuesday.

Rooney has rediscovered something like his best form in recent weeks and he was again influential in United's 1-0 Premier League victory over Everton at Old Trafford on Saturday, drifting off the forward line expertly to dictate play.

Metzelder, 30, said Schalke are well aware of Rooney's ability to find space and would be looking to limit his freedom, even if merely seeking to do so and actually achieving that aim can be two different stories.

"It's all about stopping Rooney, he's the key player," Metzelder said. "The first match is at home so it will be very important not to concede a goal. Against Chelsea he dropped into the midfield, so it's important to defend against him not only with the defensive line but also with the midfielders.

Metzelder said he was glad Schalke had avoided favourites Barcelona in their first-ever Champions League semi-final, claiming United more conventional style of play is easier to counter than the tiki-taka of the Spanish pass-masters.

"Of course we know that Manchester United have so many key players but they don't scare us," he said. "It would be much more difficult for us to play against Barcelona. The style of Manchester United is easier for us, if you can say that. Barcelona take control and they make you run so much it's very difficult to defend against them. It's easier to play against teams like Manchester United - or even Real Madrid."

But Metzelder is by no means underestimating the challenge ahead for Schalke, though, conceding the German side are the underdogs.

"Manchester United have had so much experience in the Champions League over the last 20 years. Individually they are so very strong so they're big favourites.

"Our advantage is certainly that Manchester United will be busy thinking about facing either Real or Barcelona at Wembley in the final. We will definitely be looking to come up with something."

Ancelotti eyes United collapse

QUOTE
Carlo Ancelotti is optimistic Chelsea can overtake Manchester United at the top of the table having seen first-hand how a comfortable advantage can be thrown away.

Ancelotti was in charge of Juventus in 2000 when they were overtaken by Lazio despite having held a nine-point advantage with eight games to go.

Chelsea, who had trailed United by 15 points at one stage, have now closed the gap to just six points and, as Chelsea have yet to visit Old Trafford in the league, Ancelotti hopes United will wilt under the pressure.

"I lost a title nine points up with eight games to go," he said. "It can happen. It's not a nice feeling. It was very difficult to think two months ago that we could stay with the lead so for this reason, at this moment, we are happy."

Before the teams' meeting at Old Trafford, both sides face tricky encounters. Chelsea host Tottenham in Saturday's late kick-off, and United then head to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

"If we are able to win against Tottenham, I think we can put more pressure on Manchester United in the game against Arsenal," Ancelotti said.

Should Chelsea win all their remaining games and United suffer two defeats, the title could be decided on goal difference and, with the Blues currently on 37 and United on 39, Ancelotti is eager to ensure his side take their chances.

"It can happen," he said when asked about the prospect of the teams finishing level on points. "It was important for us to score three goals [against West Ham]."

no wonder city thread never falls to second page again... he is replying himself all the way...
Oh Manchester United, u're playing at Old Trafford against Chelsea this time, show them the HOME FORM! biggrin.gif

Tricky game against Schalke. Our defence need to be aware of the in-form Raul. he could just pop up anywhere if Rio and Vidic lose him even for a second.

Damn, I wrongly counted the points advantage... too eager to get a revenge seeing we gave them one in OT a few years back...

Priority for Schalke match? 1. away goal(s) 2. clean sheet 3. injury free 4. minimum cards conceded

PS just re-watch the 1998-99 season review... we had many hard fought coming back matches enroute to Treble; Devils never get the trophies the easy way...

Raul is real deal! He is age but do not estimate that he is Champion League all time top scorer!

Real might not wants his services but he is still one of the top forward in Euro if he is fits!

You have a problem that we're discussing your debt? Did we make any snide remarks or hurl insults? One of you came in to provide more insight which we appreciated. Did we tell him to bugger off? Did we start as argument with him? What are forums for if not discussing? When your team wins, you can only discuss the game. Did you play in it? What's the difference? Just because you have no interest in how a club is run and in matters off the pitch, it doesn't mean we can't have any. So your denying that the debt is a problem? Well then you stand out from just about every Man Utd fan I know. Your brethren in Manchester is concerned at least. This is what your own posters, shgx700 said...

the thing about a good, critically looked and discussed post is that, in just an instant a club-hatred remarks can be churned by some other fickle minded members. Not saying it happens in Liverpool thread, but for example:

Poster A: Wow we have a good team, with depth so when a player is injured we have a sub. Other clubs might find it difficult to do so.

then one silly poster will quote that post, and such replies will appear:

Poster B: yeah, not like <INSERT CLUB> who keep on buying players whenever 1 is out injured and so on. They buy trophies.

It ended looking like the whole group of supporters are supporting the Poser B's notion, when poster A doesnt even have that intention.

These slagging of rival fans without any justification is just plain silly. People here cant differentiate which posts are proper discussion or which are plain hate posts. Nor can they look at the issue without being hurt whenever they arent agreed with. Malaysian education failure?

I mean I get that posters like to degrade their opposition and call them names. Water off stone lah, it's a rivalry after all. However I do get annoyed when a harmless discussion that carries no vindictive intentions gets chastised.

I don't think it's fair to generalise. It's common knowledge that there will be bad hats in any group of supporters, Liverpool included. When Roma last visited Manchester, a group of fans organised an attack on visiting fans in response to what happened in Rome. They however represented only a small minority. I'm pretty certain it's the same with the incident you mentioned. City have a very passionate group of fans and it's unfair to say they are all "pathetic".

same goes to those pool fans who did the same thing when they visited OT earlier this year for the FA cup, classless

I dont expect a lot from Spurs going to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea can easily make them look mediocre with a scoreline like 3-0. Of course it would be more difficult for Chelsea to play Tott than West Ham for example. A draw would probably be good for us, but I really do hope Tottenham can continue their UCL journey. Kicking AC Milan out of the tourney (Serie A leader while at that) for a first timer is a feat worthy to be proud of. So if they wanna qualify, they need to win every game in hand.

This is very very true. There are the good and bad fans in a team. +100.

Not a City fan but you don't write off teams just like that. Who knows, after SAF is long gone, City starts dominating? Believe in Karma my friend, it was the same for Liverpool when they had 18 titles and 2 decades later, MU are picking away at that 19th(maybe) soon.

Dimitar Berbatov has not travelled with the United squad for Tuesday night's Champions League semi-final with Schalke.

The Premier League's top goalscorer has had a groin problem and sat out the draw at Newcastle and Saturday's victory over Everton.

i thk he meant that we rarely buy big names or finished products those type, not saying that there's none but just rare compared to the many who went through the ranks since they were schoolboys...so should be buy and build...There's Welbeck and Cleverley too who are from our academies...cant recall any city player in their first team atm coming from their youth icon_idea.gif

sorry if u got me wrong...what i mean is we buy young players and convert it to stars although not all of them becoming stars and we did buy some stars too...
United developed those young players and inject it to the squad with some seniors in it to gain experience as far as im concern...
what i actually mean is City bought almost all of the superstars the like of silva, dzeko (the players that all over the world knows how good they are)
u got me?
im not condemning City but if City can prove building a good quality squad and building good chemistry among the players with their superstars then its alright...
but if city cant win with their current squad i think they just can build a whole new squad next season with the money - easier solution compared to how hard teams like United, Arsenal and others building for years...
i just dun like the style "pakai buang" in a team but im United fan...
why should i care..
its subjective things to discuss...
u might be agree but u might also dun and vice versa...
