certainly not. but gps locking will be long. I needed 5 minutes to lock gps (for first time) without data when I was in Sydney.

from which phone are you upgrading to? i think galaxy s2 may be released in May. don't know when it'll reach malaysia though. If got big budget, wait for galaxy s2. I'm sure it'll be future-proof and IMO will surpass iphone5 spec as I am not seeing apple competing with specs. (shown in their latest ipad2 ad)

galaxy s i9000 is only 10 months old. has the fastest cpu&gpu amongst single-core smartphones. Also, it is still holding up well against a plethora of upcoming dual-core phones. Not to mention the most beautiful screen, super amoled rclxms.gif

samsung won't lock up the bootloader unless google asks them to. I read this from supercurio's or kalpik's twitter.

Haha thank you. went to sydney, then along the coast and then canberra. got a lot of photos and videos to show you guys. copying them into the computer, will upload them in a few days. Got holiday this friday so maybe I'll have time to post.

- after flashing speedmod kernel from stock, you need to go to CWM and install root. But of you have installed froyo custom rom,they are pre-rooted

Yes, you need to flash a rom with froyo bootloader (containing Sbl.bin file) like ZSJPJ or nitr8's Ezbase

Latest for malaysia is DXJPE which is froyo 2.2

Better to flash 2.2.1 rom unless the localization is important to you.

odd. Have you tried pulling out the battery and reinsert it? Then boot up your phone and see if the problem persists.

Ah, from darkyy, no wonder smile.gif

I'd suggest flashing to nitr8's ezbase. Then you can reflash to dxjpe. Ezbase should solve all the problems.

That's right, this phone has no optical zoom, only digital zoom. That's why the picture looks blurry when zooming in.

No idea about freezing an app but when you rename by appending .bak to the filename, the app will be uninstalled.

Remove .bak from filename and the app will be reinstalled

The camera is certainly more capable than I originally thought. only qualms is the absence of xenon flash

I don't have those apps in /system/app folder. No problem with google sync but I can't tell about fb sync because I don't use it.

Galaxy sl is a downgrade. Galaxy s II is the successor. Samsung probably made galaxy sl because they have excess components and depleted super amoled screen.

It's under apply script option. Then look for backup_efs_q.txt

You need to have your phone rooted to make this work.

I have the july batch. GPS performance was really bad. Newer roms and modem in the 2.2.1 roms has greatly improved. I haven't done any hardware fix yet.

In flight mode, I can get gps satellite lock in 5 minutes. Location is very accurate (10m accuracy) That was when I'm in Australia. Its location locking is also consistent.

I don't think samsung will replace your hardware. They never admitted the gps problem for the early batch of the phone.
