I thought Gingerbread bootloader works with Froyo but not the other way round?
*
oh, i mean just to play safe lah. manatau if you flash back to froyo with the GB bootloader then suddenly got problem. as for me, i just like to flash safe with flash back to ZSJPJ in the first page with froyo bootloader, then if want to flash back to GB, no problem cause we're coming from froyo bootloader to gb bootloader. just my 2 cent theory la. tongue.gif

For you, try Insanity rom  thumbup.gif

I have the july batch. GPS performance was really bad. Newer roms and modem in the 2.2.1 roms has greatly improved. I haven't done any hardware fix yet.

In flight mode, I can get gps satellite lock in 5 minutes. Location is very accurate (10m accuracy) That was when I'm in Australia. Its location locking is also consistent.

I don't think samsung will replace your hardware. They never admitted the gps problem for the early batch of the phone.

dwloading insanity and simply honey together! biggrin.gif

it's confirmed that Gingerbread's bootloader is backward compatible, tat way u wont have to keep changing ur bootloaders. LOL.. just flash straight nxt time la.. if u keep flashing bootloaders, then higher risk of bricking ur phone. LOL.. jkjk

+1 LOL. okay boss, noted. i always been flashing like that. will try not to flash bootloader too many times after this. hehe, btw u're still with froyo right? or change to JVB already?

i'm reverting back to froyo too cause cannot tahan with the lagfix, tweaks and all. and most of all, no more Darkyy rom for me, its kinda too unstable for me to use ( battery drain especially.) i'm on Doc's side now. hehe

There no more lbstestmode in samsung's gingerbread. So,for those on JVK or JVB gingerbread.

How to invoke AngryGPS:

CODE

adb shell am start -a com.android.angryGps -n com.android.angryGps/.AngryGPS

Tonight is really slow. Everyone following galaxy sII launch? It looks really hot! Review is very promising. Bootloader is confirmed to be unlocked. In fact the firmware (I9100XWKDD) is already uploaded to samfirmware
*
just finished reading the article about it in gsmarena. gosh the SGS 2 is much hotter than our SGS!

one thing i'll never understand about samsung @ google @ android itself, why the Nexus S already got the 2.3.4 upcoming OTA updates while galaxy s still stuck with buggy GB? shouldn't they be realizing the facts that Galaxy S is much top-seller than Nexus S? haiyaa

Much better than iPad? Well, it depends on the kind of user and the expectations you have for a tablet. For me, the Tab is a better companion than the iPad but I only miss one thing, the much better collection of educational games/apps for kids in iOS.

The Tab is like an oversized SGS, flashing method, custom roms, kernels and lagfix stuff are all available. No harder than doing the same on the SGS.

Also, the Tab's stock firmware 2.2.1 (I never bothered with 2.2) is waaaay quicker than even the stock 2.3.3 firmware on the SGS. Market opens and shows apps lists quicker, navigation in the UI is smoother and less laggy, apps open quickly etc. Overall I feel the Tab to be about 25% smoother/quicker than my SGS - both on EXT4 mind you, and custom kernels. With EXT4 conversion, I dare say there is no lag at all on the Tab - I was very surprised by the overall speed!!

P/S Benny888 was not very wrong to mention that software-wise, the SGS is one of the worst performing 1GHz Android phones in the market. I do agree with him, especially after using the Tab for a few days. smile.gif The Tab feels like an SGS done right albeit without the beautiful SuperAMOLED ha ha..
*
thank you very much for your review sir. so tempting! thumbup.gif and i can't wait to play with my dad's Tab somehow. cannot wait to go back home this summer.  brows.gif i'll find you if i got some problems with the Tab. smile.gif

Is it safe to root with this...Root And Unroot Samsung Galaxy S i9000 With A Single Click
*
well, to be frank, better stay away from these kind of methods (others like z4root, superoneclick) cause its already been a long time since the methods been released. i can say it will still working, but if you got problem, there will be only a few people who knows how to fix it with u. try to flash Speedmod kernel, if you're on Froyo, you will not just get root(superuser +busybox), but you also can add tweaks and even add lagfix to your phone to improve the smoothness.
