QUOTE(fo-fo-fo-fo @ Apr 17 2011, 04:11 PM) Well, I miss this trend as nowadays laptops are silver, black and grey since the new trend of metal. It's kind of boring. I don't mind gloss as long as it's colorful (red, blue, orange or green Pricelist updated, thanks for sharing I have been using a silver laptop for quite some time, I need something to brighten up my day However, does the gloss make the palm rest slippery ? Is it annoying ? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Iirc, there was a promotion for some of this units where 3 years warranties is offered, quite worth it I would say Not sure whether the promotion is still on or not ... The good thing about glossy materials is that it'll never look old even when your lappy is a few years old But the bad thing is that they get dirty, very very easily, need to clean them almost everyday And nope, they aren't slippery ~ |

QUOTE(Revamperz @ Apr 17 2011, 05:18 PM) in a world of mostly matte finish lappy currently available, this one look fresh n nice! nicer then Vaio C LOL, I was going to recommend him a Vaio Toshiba L series laptops are quite glossy as well, but they don't really look nice, abit too thick... And the colors are dull |

QUOTE(fo-fo-fo-fo @ Apr 17 2011, 05:52 PM) ok fixed Yeah, the new L745/755 looks almost the same as the previous L645/655 Added on April 17, 2011, 5:57 pm There will be a new toshiba L7xx series coming soon That being said, I doubt it will be nicer than the g series As mentioned, they're quite thick, and hence not that nice... but as for reliability, you can count on Toshs, had recommended a few friends some L510, L645 etc. and all are still working well with no problems whatsoever |

QUOTE(fo-fo-fo-fo @ May 1 2011, 07:50 AM) Hey, I am reviving this thread right now since I just bought the hp G4-1025TX (red). It came with a carrying bag (that's a little tiny Hoho, grats on your purchase So far : - seems to run cool (the fan blows cool air when the laptop is idle) - the keyboard is a pleasure to type on : the keys are spaced, large and have a nice springy feel to them. It is much better than an island keyboard IMO, especially those you find on an apple, or sony notebook. - the touch pad is ok, the click buttons are great and you can disable it. - The best thing about it is the design : the red gloss is superb, seems durable and doesn't seem to show fingerprints at all - It's far less noisy than the sony vaio s - Another great feature is the matte border around the display. Any other brand will use a glossy border and it will pick up fingerprints and look ugly over time - The speakers are loud and clear Really, people should consider this laptop more often. Compared to other budget laptops, this one has a special attention to small details like the overall design, the keyboard, the matte screen border, the disable touch pad, the metal hinges and the great speakers. Sure, other brands will give better specs for the price. But they will miss out on the features mentioned above. Mind sharing some more detailed review? Touchpad can be disabled in all laptops? Will check it out if I see one |

Perhaps you could try and do some temperature tests? It'll be good for potential buyers
Well, no laptop is perfect |

QUOTE(wyh @ May 7 2011, 09:10 PM) awww thanks a lot. i'm thinking of getting g4-1007. which is same as yours. since RM1899 is intel 3000 and 1999 is switchable ATI. 100 difference only. How about the SRS? Can handle like SRS from dell ? hahahah am i asking too much lol The G4 has rather impressive speakers, much better than its rivals of the same class... so no worries there~ |

Just have a quick touch on the HP G4, and I have to say I'm impressed... especially the speakers, sound quality is average, similar to rivals at the same price range, but the loudness is very impressive, almost the same as my current M500 with harman/kardon
It looks above average, especially the silver one.... but it sure is glossy.... seen a couple of Satellite L745 as well, the newer design makes fingerprints less apparent... Those who are eager on trying out the G4, do go ahead, I think its a worthy opponent |

What I have to say regarding this laptop is- see to believe... this laptop is non-photogenic (dunno why), but the real thing looks very sweet Loved the silver color one especially~ The red color would be better if it ain't so dark, girls will love it if its brighter or perhaps even slightly pinkish Yeah, I've tried the speakers, very very loud @wyh, I don't even have the notebook, how to open dedicated thread haha |

QUOTE(wyh @ May 11 2011, 02:07 PM) Yes yes not photogenic enough especially the red colour. SEE IN REALITY THEN YOU WILL <3 IT. Don't have to be so pink la, most important its not traditional black/grey then its okay for girls already. I went home and told my gf i got a grey, straight way, why didn't you get the red one. hahahahaha Not much people is responding to Hp G4 series, i wonder why. Compared to Inspiron 14R, Toshiba L645 and etc. PF T.J. : opps i though you own a unit of this. =\ They're not very popular because of the comparatively lower specs against other brands The more attractive one would be the RM1999 variant. But even then, most people would go for the Asus 43Sj instead due to the 2 years warranty.. Well, you owners could do some temperature tests and then share with potential buyers Added on May 11, 2011, 3:03 pm QUOTE(prozai @ May 11 2011, 02:58 PM) Yes, I'm not very sure whether the promotion is still on, but if one is not into gaming and just want a regular, everyday laptop, the 3 years warranty will make the laptop a good bargain This post has been edited by [PF] T.J.: May 11 2011, 03:03 PM |
