My contractor want to charge to paint the whole house for rm9000..say he will now include paint the ceiling for me..I want to kill him..CB guy..I cant even trust him to do the current work..trouble is he is doing the current work damn slow...(70% complete, already collected 90%)as he wants me to give painting and then whole house tiling to him...even challenge me to find a better sifu than him...what an ego..
Seriously, anyone want to take up his challenge..please let me know.. mad.gif
Whole house - just paint white only..the house is about 3500 sq feet..I want to know how to terminate him...anyone done before?  mad.gif  mad.gif  mad.gif

ask your contractor to breakdown the rates instead of giving lump sum.

Any paint as long as its not gloss. Otherwise you'll see the slight waves appearing.

normal 'cheap' emulsion paint will do, eg rm65/20L

RM9000 for a double storey is slightly expensive, my house is about 2800 sq feet corner unit, paint whole house internal + external (high wall) + grille + door + ceiling everything..estimate about RM6,000-RM7,000.. using Nippon paint..

Where's your location? If you want, I can ask my subcon whether he can does it. smile.gif

Good luck bro!

Added on November 25, 2011, 7:52 amTS, for ceiling..my painter recommended simple emulsion paint will do..no primer required..

I used Nippon Paint..
1) Premium paint for living hall, all bedrooms (1 primer + 2 finishing)
2) Emulsion paint for ceiling
3) Weatherbond for external (1 primer + 2 finishing)
4) Gloss paint for metal/grille

my painter recommend me to put thick sealer + another layer of either maxilite or pentalite (if budget allowed) so that it is suitable for long run

People has been telling me to use sealer for plaster ceiling, but I don't know if they are needed. Maybe it is a good idea.

As for the paint for plaster ceiling, Maxilite is the most common. The white color is very nice. Matex is more "yellow" than Maxilite.

You may choose to use Maxilite for the whole house, but my recommendation is to use Nippon 3-in-1 for Kitchen, Bathrooms and Exterior Ceiling (if any)

I am contemplating to use all Nippon 3-in-1 white for my plaster ceiling in my new house, as 3-in-1 is the only paint that is waterproof currently. I have used the 3-in-1 previously in my current kitchen and bathrooms and they are still good after 8 years

i just bought a Matex, and from here, the phrase "Matex is more "yellow" than Maxilite“ make me feel insecure man, would it affect my top coat which is white tone?

you have to paint a layer of sealer then paint 2 coat of top coat, paint ceiling follow the same way with painting walls, then you wont have powder issue

i recommend jotun easy ceiling or nippon perfect white, but you can use any paint that is better like easy wash or even jotun sense, as long as not those cheap maxilite or jotaplast

not painting ceiling with good paint is the cause of fungus infection and powder falling issue
