Hi all, I just go to view the ASX of my friend.

The front seats are ok, space is normal and quite confortable.

However the disappointment is on the rear seats. The seats are abonormally straight, the legroom is just ok ok. Due the the straight seats, it is not that comfortable to sit on. The cabin space is smaller that MyVi. You van actually feel the sense of tight space. Opening the moonroof helps abit, but not much. The whole experience siting on the rear seats is like AirAsia short economy flights. It is bearable, but not comfortable for long journey.

Test drived the ASX as well, during the start, when i step on the pedal, the car is kinda sluggish and slow climbs up. Maybe due to he ecu or something like that as my friend said. Overall the handling is good, steering is stiffer compared to smaller car. Going through rough roads and bumps are quite good, not sure is due to new suspension or 17inch tyre.

Overall, I like this car so much, but I cant accept to buy a 130k with cabin space smaller than my gf's MyVi, as I am actually buying a car that serves as main family car.

Can we modify the back seats aftermarket?

P.S. : Saw the CX-5 as well, the rear seats are slightly better that ASX, but it still feels small, and smaller thant MyVi.

I am wondering is it all SUV has smaller rear seats space compared to sedan ? Due to the huge boot space?

test drive the CRV and you'll see why it's a clear winner. the space is HUGE compared to compact SUV like CX5 and ASX smile.gif

Are you sure the rear space of the Mazda CX-5 is smaller than Myvi? I don't think so. I sat in the CX-5 and rear legroom is quite generous although not in the class of Honda Accord. The back seat of the CX-5 is also quite straight up. Although I have not seen the ASX, overall the CX-5 should be a larger vehicle than the ASX both exterior and interior space.

If looking solely for space no doubt Crv is much bigger. Crv is 150-160k though and heavier. The power to weight ratio will probably suffer compared to the Asx.

Cx5 rear leg room about the same as the ASX. Same thing for the seats. CX5 boot is slightly bigger than the ASX.

For 130k the roomiest cabin you can get probably is a cheaper d segment car. Maybe a pre facelift Optima is in that price range. It's either that or a new MPV like Avanza.

So far I'm happy with the ASX really like the auto rain and light sensor. Even after tinting it works very well. The rain sensor adapts to the rain level very sensitively and the speed changes with the level of rain automatically. It's nice because it auto offs when under a highway for example then turns on again when you are out in the rain again.

The author light sensor also very useful. When I'm parking or indoors the lights come on automatically and when I'm outdoors in the sun it shuts off. Also when you are driving at night and leave it on auto, when you turn off the engine, the lights turn off automatically too so you will never get a dead battery due to forgetting to turn off the lights.

The reverse camera has also been extremely useful when parking, letting you know how deep you should park etc.

So far the car has been very good and exceeding my expectations. A really practical family car with plenty of practical features.

Have you checked out the Subaru XV? The rear seats are roomy and comfortable but the boot is smaller though. I was considering the ASX and XV and decided on the XV. No regret as I dun need big boot space but roomy and comfortable rear seats are more important for my wife and kids. thumbup.gif

Went to test drive the asx last weekend, totally agree that the 2nd row seats is a bit too tight. As for the power, start off from zero is slow but once the rpm built up, then the power starts to flow. Cruising on highway at 110km/h is effortless for the car.

CVT is a bit slow for pickup when running automatic......try manual paddle shift whether it improve or not?

The improvement is negligible even with paddle shift, shifting is done at around 3500 rpm. I guess the car is just a tad too heavy to push from stagnant. But once it get moving... then it is OK

Thanks bro. Anyway please find attached picture of the head unit. Lucifah tai kor can Id? Anyway the dvd only works when not moving that's expected lar.

So my questions now is does video work via usb? If yes, what formats?

Dvd definitely can play in dvd format. Does it work for avi or mp4 burned into a dvd or must be in dvd format? Thanks in advance!
*
Hi bro, my wife got her ASX last week. As for the DVD feature, just put in DVD, wait till it runs, then put in reverse gear, move back a bit and then put in drive mode as usual, you'll see the DVD kept playing with pictures and audio like normal. BUT don't put in hand brake as it will shut off video and only play audio.

Can ask the mitsu tech to unplug the cable that connects sensor to the hand brake. They offered me to do that for rm40 something but did not mentioned about voiding the warranty.
