Ya pickup on mine is slow as well, expected with the cvt gearbox lar. I'm pleasantly surprised with the vehicle stability though. It feels firmly planted around corners like a hatch. Quite good for such a tall car.

I'm driving the ckd 2wd. I'm annoyed I don't get the push start but at 118k cannot complain d lar.

The other features are nice to have, the panoramic sun roof is also cool but in Malaysia not that practical. Show off to friends Abit then never open d.

The 4wd I think unlikely to be relevant yet adds weight to the car and decreases fc. But they will bundle all with 4wd so they can charge the max haha!

Was in Kuching for a few days. Saw plenty of Mitsubishi ASX on the road. I was in Melbourne and Sydney for 10 days earlier this month. After the CX5 the ASX was the 2nd most popular suv. Surprisingly I saw alot of the bigger Mitsubishi Outlander as well.

The ASX seems to be selling well world wide. I was surprised to see so many in Australia because the Asx is quite expensive over there, about the same price as the Nissan Dualis and the Mazda CX5. My friend was driving my wife and I around in his Nissan Dualis and while it's a nice car, I feel that the ASX interior is nicer. However the Aussie Dualis also has a nice panoramic sunroof. But when he opened it, the glass roof was full of bird shit, so I assume not that practical overseas as well hahaha. He also admitted using the 4wd only once during snow conditions for a ski trip in Victoria. I like the Dualis exterior look though, too bad can't get in KL since it would be a worthy competitor.

I think the rebadged asx are worth getting if second hand because they look nice and since they are conti badged, the resale will be bad. But since it is actually a mitsubishi it will be as reliable as a rock!

I will go for Asx over civic 1.8 too. Civic you get tin kosong car and 1.8 engine only. Asx you get a 2.0 engine, leather seats, navigation, rear view camera, auto rain and light sensors and higher seating height. Any day, it feels more premium than a tin kosong civic. Also crossover "status" is equivalent to a d segment while a compact sedan is a compact sedan.

D segment/crossover/suv= managerial
Civic/compact sedans= senior exec
City/vios/b segment= junior exec

Common issue with ckd ASX ?

1.Sluggish CVT [from standstill]
2.Noise in cabin [soundproofing not so good?]
3.Front parking sensor not so good [maybe due to height]
4.Engine noise during morning start ?
*
My opinions:

1. Agree
2. Quite apparent when throttling hard, otherwise ok at average acceleration. Mine is the first batch ckd so it's almost fully cbu. Might be different for others.
3. So far I think mine is quite sensitive. Keeps going off when people walk pass the car. Maybe cannot detect low bumps etc.
4. Agree, engine noisy during cold start. Which is normal I guess.

So far all the above issues not very critical. I'm enjoying the car alot and the family is happy.

Ur 2wd should be faster right because it's lighter? 4wd gives better handling and grip but doesn't affect power and acceleration right?

Simple fact is that the XV is too small and too overpriced. Why pay 20k more for a smaller CUV? Subaru service center also limited. People would buy the XV for the badge only, which is silly.

The Forester on the other hand is a different story!

Hello to all sifus here. I'm planning to get a ASX 2WD sooner (join the family).
But before that, i need some precious and genuine feedbacks from all the sifus and ASX owner.
-How is the FC in city + weekend long distance? It's a 1.8 tons car, do it feel "dragging" when picking up speed during traffic?
-For 2014, Mitsubishi claims to have reduced NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) levels in the cabin. Is that true?
-Reported to have burning smell inside the cabin??
*
The 2wd is 1350 kg which is 1.35 ton right? 1.8 ton is the max weight when fully laden. So fc on the 2wd is actually very good compared to other competitors in the CUV segment. Mostly are 1.4-1.5 tons. Asx also has the cvt which is fuel efficient compared to regular auto.

Speed is ok. Nothing amazing, pickup from zero is slightly sluggish which is normal for cvt. Accelerating from cruising speed to overtaking speed is good. Can maintain stable high speeds on higelhway well.

2014 NVH on my Asx is ok. Could be improved more especially the isolation from the cvt. Noisy when you are throttling hard but not noticeable at lower rpms. Highway cruising noise is so-so. Nothing amazing nothing terrible.

What burning smell???

I have some annoying rattling sound coming from the gear stick area there. I can't pinpoint where exactly it's coming from. It's not very serious and occasional only. However, it's annoying lar. Any other owners got this problem? I shifted the keys, sunglasses etc d so it's not some loose object.

They are really alot of ASX on the road. As much as most of the popular cuvs like CX5 and crv. Resale should be good in this case?

It's nice to know that the Asx is one of the top 4 suvs in Malaysia. I'm amazed the ASX got picked over the crv, Tucson and ford kuga! We are beating even the mainstream brands!

I tried all formats already. Used converter so many times. The answer is none. Only mp3 is supported on usb. To play videos on the screen you need to burn your videos onto a dvd in dvd format.

You can also only view the dvds when your hand brake is engaged. Of course you can ask the mechanic to disable the cable but it's illegal haha.

I was reading some old posts and I found this:
Yeah, my ASX also has a rattling sound coming from the gear stick area, which usually only rattles when i am driving through uneven roads. I have managed to pinpoint the source, it is coming from the long silver coloured side panel. When it rattles, if i press the side panel with my hand or my thigh (while driving), the sound would disappear. I highlighted this when i sent the car for service, and they checked and said one of the panel's clip were loosed, and set it right again. If yours is still rattling, ask the service centre to check the clipping of the silver side panel. One of them might be loose.
*
Thanks bro ya I realized this also. It's coming from the silver plastic panel. Will have it fixed during the next service. Other than this the car is perfect after about 4 months of driving. The engine roar could use some more work as well in terms of sound isolation. No issue lar it's only when accelerating hard from standstill, the first 2 seconds engine roar very apparent, when cruising the car is very quiet.

From collect car until now which is about 6 months, have not paid for anything. Free service and warranty is great.

Car is humming along great. Saw some black ones with black rims. Wah ganas, a bit regret get white now. Plenty of ASX on the road nowadays. Next to cx5, ASX looks like the 2nd most popular cuv.

"The most reliable SUVs are the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, the Subaru Forester, the Toyota Highlander, and the Lexus RX."

Outlander Sport is the American name for the ASX and is the most reliable SUV in the USA!!! Congrats Mitsubishi!

All this local award I don't believe one lar. They don't show the numbers. Consumer reports is a very reputable Us organisation and reliability is a numbers based objective thing.

Best ini best itu I don't know what thing is best lar. Hahaha.

at least some personal experience will help..

im not a car person so im not very sensitive regarding some car issue..

thanks

Cx5 pros

Bigger boot (slightly longer car/heavier)
More airbags

ASX pros

Lighter (1350 kg for 2wd) and CVT gearbox. So very fuel efficient.
More value for money. A lot of kit for the cost, also undercuts Cx5 by quite a significant margin.

Tie/ personal preference
Straight rear seats on ASX. Not as comfortable as Cx5 rear seats. Advantage of having straight rear seats is that it can fold flat for extra boot storage. This is not really a pro/con, just personal preference.
CVT on ASX vs auto on CX5. CVT gearbox is fuel saving and efficient but acceleration at low speeds not as good as regular auto. This is also personal preference. Like vroom vroom, CX5 auto more responsive at lower speeds. Want more fuel efficient, Asx CVT more fuel efficient.

No car better than the other lar. My summary:

Asx for fuel economy conscious and more value for money car. Don't need huge boot space.

Cx5 for vroom vroom acceleration at low speeds and slightly larger boot space.

All and all not that much difference between the 2 lar.
