2wd bro. Haha this cars front grill is jet-fighter like and macho. I think the cx5)Tucson lagi girly than the asx. However size wise, Pajero is the most macho lar of course. Tough suv but in my opinion the ride Abit too hard as its built for off roading. I'll be in the city 99% of the time lar so it's not for me.
Ya sure will take pics and post them when I can. Super excited!

Just came back from the Showroom. I had some bad experience with salesman but I won't talk about it here as long as they sort it out.
Anyway I inspected my CKD unit, it came exactly like described. Very similar to the CBU except no push start, sun roof and paddle shifters. The touch screen is also much bigger than the CBU @ 8 inches now. Everything else the same. I'm very happy with what I saw so I hope to collect the unit next week after my cheque clears and they do the JPJ registration.

Sometime depends on your luck lor. You can always request a different one from the Sales Manager. I'm also really unlucky this time.

QUOTE(AveoHzq @ Feb 13 2014, 06:53 PM) Which branch did you went? I don't want to bad mouth the branch lar because the sales manager and new sales agent is more honest and transparent. So as long as things smooth from now I don't want to ruin their reputation.

Ya it's a SUV, what were you expecting? If you want a fast responsive 2.0 car, the Focus is a much better buy. If you want size and bang for buck family car, it's the ASX. Focus is pretty cramped, but driving pleasure is better.

Actually I'm not sure why everyone is so anti-cvt. Imo you are paying for better tech than a conventional auto. Firstly you save fuel because you maintain an optimum gear ratio and high rpm throughout. Also it's only sluggish early on because when you floor it you don't climb up the rpm fast.
However in 0-100 times cvt transmission is as fast if not faster than an auto because you get no rpm drop off when you move up the "gears". So for normal driving where you step on the pedal lightly or medium, you climb up the rpm smoothly and more efficiently than an auto.
It's only when you want to get the immediate burst of acceleration like an ah beng, then the auto can give you that. For normal driving and normal speeding up for highway speeds, the cvt Imo is better. If you really want speed and the gforce pushed into seat feeling, get a manual lar and red line all the way.

As a Drivers car conventional auto better lar I assume. But I think in compact suv segment, cvt was the right call since asx customers mainly buy it for the high riding height, interior space and value for money. Yea agree cx5 especially the 2.5 would be very fun to drive! Ai ya 165k wor, 47k more than the 2wd asx.

So same CVT as the Teana. Apparently Nissan is very famous for their efficient and smooth CVTs. So since we are getting the same hardware, reliability and performance should be top notch. Yea I read Mitsubishi and Nissan both using Jatco cvt.
I feel thay reviewers are really biased as well lar. Everyone is raving how Nissan Teana cvt plus 2.0 engine gives a smooth and pleasant drive with good acceleration at 1450 kerb weight. While same reviewer days the asx 2.0 with the same cvt at 1350 kerb weight feels sluggish and just "up to the task".
??? Mitsubishi why you no bribe journalists?

Just got my car today. Very happy with it! Build quality seems very solid from first impressions of driving. Will know more as I drive more. I like the premium features for a 118k car like the navigation, rear view camera, foldable side mirrors and the leather seats. It combines to make the car feel very premium for its price.

After a spin with the inlaws last night. Some further impressions: suspension is reasonably good. In laws say it's quite comfortable at the back. Good enough for long road trips. Cabin size is very spacious. I'm used to c segment sized cars like the Persona and Mazda 3. The asx is much much roomier than a c segment car. I can swing my elbows freely in the car as its much roomier. I'm 6 feet tall lar, so it's impressive considering my size.
The 8 inch navigation is a bit of a let down. It's good and fast but the screen is the usual touch resistive type screen. So not as sensitive as the touch capacitative ones on your ipod or iPhone. Tested the nav, 3d and responsive but annoying because it keeps reminding you to slow down if you speed.
Seats are very nice, rear view camera is very clear and bright even compared to my in laws 5 series and passat cc. Sound system is ok, fidelity could be higher but plenty of bass if that's your thing.
Performance wise, highway driving is pretty good. I was 120km/h yesterday and the car felt very solid with little wind noise. Around bends at 120 the car feels very steady. As mentioned the initial acceleration of the car is sluggish. But it gets up to highway speed quickly, similar to an auto. It's the first 2 seconds lar after you accelerate, you don't feel much. The noisy cvt is apparent when you floor the accelerator hard. The vrrrr is definitely there. But if you are accelerating normally, you won't hear the cvt whirring.
More.thoughts to come.

I checked the usual stuff, like is everything there, do the front and back sensors work. Reverse cam, spare tire, etc. There will have a check list and the agent should run through and show you each one.
I tried mpeg1 and mpeg2 for the usb. Doesn't work too. This head unit total mystery to me.

If looking solely for space no doubt Crv is much bigger. Crv is 150-160k though and heavier. The power to weight ratio will probably suffer compared to the Asx.
Cx5 rear leg room about the same as the ASX. Same thing for the seats. CX5 boot is slightly bigger than the ASX.
For 130k the roomiest cabin you can get probably is a cheaper d segment car. Maybe a pre facelift Optima is in that price range. It's either that or a new MPV like Avanza.
So far I'm happy with the ASX really like the auto rain and light sensor. Even after tinting it works very well. The rain sensor adapts to the rain level very sensitively and the speed changes with the level of rain automatically. It's nice because it auto offs when under a highway for example then turns on again when you are out in the rain again.
The author light sensor also very useful. When I'm parking or indoors the lights come on automatically and when I'm outdoors in the sun it shuts off. Also when you are driving at night and leave it on auto, when you turn off the engine, the lights turn off automatically too so you will never get a dead battery due to forgetting to turn off the lights.
The reverse camera has also been extremely useful when parking, letting you know how deep you should park etc.
So far the car has been very good and exceeding my expectations. A really practical family car with plenty of practical features.
