QUOTE(Ryo83 @ Apr 30 2011, 08:26 PM) QUOTE(wacomfreak @ Apr 30 2011, 11:10 PM) Add me into the user list for N53SN. Added you guys in. Also, I have a question. My sis bought an A42D laptop but the speakers are too low... Is it normal or is it faulty? And yeah, A series speakers have a lower max volume so it's normal. |

Shelf life for an Asus notebook is typically around 6 months before it gets replaced by a refreshed version. Hot selling models may turnover even faster.

QUOTE(BurgerRI @ May 2 2011, 10:48 PM) Is anyone here using the Asus N71? I heard we cant get it in Asia or something like that. Any thoughts abt that model? There is an N73 which is the newest of the 17" N-series. Problem that it's not that popular and it has not been refreshed with SB yet. Don't think it will either.Scratch that...i just read its been discontinued. |

Tried my friend's A43SJ. The GT520M if is equipped with is quite cool. Running FurMark at a very crippling 1366 x 768 with 8x AA for over 15 minutes only made the temps reach 68C. Feels quite slim too even though it's actually the same size as my A42JV.

QUOTE(BurgerRI @ May 3 2011, 04:26 PM) Is the fan running continuously even on low temps? One thing I noticed abt certain laptops is that they sacrifice cooling for running quietly. Mostly see this on Dell's, fan waits till the temp is 60C+ and then it starts to spin up, by that time the keyboard and body is already warm. But Asus not as bad. At lower temps, the fans are running at such a slow RPM you can't even hear it. Only when it's needed, it kicks into action but not too loud either. And when the fan kicks in, the only area that was warm was the underside of the laptop. Palm rest and keyboard was pretty cool.QUOTE(gogo2 @ May 3 2011, 04:58 PM) guys, you got problem updating Windows 7? Mine keep on fail at restarting. It'll say Fail Updating Windows Configuration, Reverting back. Normally, the update files got screwed somewhere when it was downloading. Happens with my desktop sometimes when my connection is bad. I just hard reset and more or less ignore that update after that.A42JV. Ori windows 7 home came with the laptop. |

QUOTE(mekboyz @ May 5 2011, 09:26 PM) how often you do guys update your gpu drivers. i havent seen any noticeable improvement after updating twice before Normally only when necessary. I don't see much of a point to chase the driver anyway. I find one I'm quite happy with and stick with it until maybe 2 updates later. |

Not interested in the U41SV? Now that one is a solid unit. But the newer generation of laptops from Asus, especially the A43/53 and U41 lineup have better build quality compared to the older generation.
