You yourself already said it hundreds of times before- Astro only interested in $$$. And which groups can give them $$$ the most? Kaki bola and little old Chinese ladies.

They don't care about the intellects or the geeks, or children, or those with children. They don't even care about local businessmen (otherwise they will make CNA and CNN Headlines- the second CNN channel- or even Sky News available).

al Hijrah had serious aspect ratio conflict...

i wish someone would screencap it for comparison.

Before I have a screencap... this is the conflict I found...

1. Sekejap 14:9 sekejap 4:3. This caused some commercials and short videos (tazkirah, doa dll) text cropped out...
2. Dramas, documentaries and commercials in 4:3, 16:9 in 4:3 letterbox and 14:9 pillarboxed to 4:3 are stretched to 16:9 and cropped to 14:9. (imagine if the 4:3 feed is stretch in LCD TV by some full screen enthusiatics), also in news. Some news reports video are captured by cheap camcoder.
3. Azan and channel ident video are in 4:3 pillarboxed to 16:9 and cropped to 14:9
4. Negaraku MV in 16:9 stretched to 4:3
5. Korean drama in Alhijrah?
6. Only inhouse productions are in HD.

Conclusion, actors are more fat and shorter in Al Hijrah, there are no clear standard/guidelines for text safe area in productions, like this... This not apply to AlHijrah alone, but most of the production houses and TV station in Malaysia. Maybe viewers doesn't care but we care...

1 word can i utter right now, contohi Al Jazeera English...

Suggestions:

If Al Hijrah don't want penat2 changing aspect ratio everytime for 4:3 feed, read this...

If al hijrah wanted 4:3 crop,
1. Don't stretch 4:3 feed and leave a pillarbox to 16:9 like FX HD for 4:3 series.
2. Make sure all productions have 4:3 text safe area to make sure all text are viewable by all. (if not, you have to windowbox it like astro did to commercials in the world cup seasons)

If al hijrah wanted 14:9 crop like Astro cropping 16:9 feed of Al Jazeera English,
1. Crop 4:3 feed to 14:9
2. Make sure all productions have 14:9 text safe area to make sure all text are viewable by all. (if not, you have to windowbox it)

MTVNHD packed with mostly live concerts, same as iConcert HD. But there are still music videos showed in HD and those MVs are awesome in quality. Nicee. But unfortunately no Punk'd and all, yet. Hopefully this channel will come to Astro Byond.
Whereas Nat Geo Music shows music videos.
Emas channel shows mostly TV3 programs, dramas, movies for past 10 years. (It shows Sinaran (1994) seriously!)

Just want to know if I'm upgrading to astro beyond, could I request another decoder and use the same smart card from my current account?

I'd like to see what happens when Viacom pulls the Nick Jr slot away from the main Nickelodeon channel like Disney pull the Playhouse slot away from the main Disney channel. I will use Dora the Explorer as example since apparently this show is serious business to kids here to the point where the character makes regular "live" appearances.

My prediction is four things will happen:
- TM gets s#!tstorm for slow rollout.
- Astro gets s#!tstorm for "canceling" Dora the Explorer or Nick Jr as a whole. In the US a similar s#!tstorm recently hit Dish Network when they dropped a particular childrens channel for another channel. Outcome is that they lost quite a number of subscribers.
- Nothing. TV3 and TV9 has the show. Also, if children throw a tantrum because a less popular show disappeared, just threaten them and beat them. Since Malaysia has no social services and anti-abuse system like the US and beating a child is your own problem. (most likely outcome)
- for the first time in Malaysia, a premium channel is available on two platforms (most unlikely outcome).

UNIFI has to make it now or never,it is TOOOOOOOOOO slow .The channel base is good ,has variety and expanding.This is a rabbit tortoise situation,the rabbit seems to be taking a comfortable nap, TM pls start serious work.

im waiting for my unifi and im in q....but after heard from other people abt unifi, im planning to cancel it...
