Why there were four channels (2 SD and 2 HD) showing the same football game (Barclays Asia Trophy) ?

Assthrow Fail now got 3 HD channels.... Why waste so much resources to this failed package?  where are more new HD channels coming since Assthrow raised their subscription fee???

When it comes for selfish reasons they can add 3 HD channels at one go but when looking into overall customer requests they arent interested.The public must be blamed for making AF a success.!? As they say 10 make noise but a 100 support !

Only selected movies will be available on HD and there is no dedicated channel for HD.

just noticed that the HBO HD delay one hour again...

Yeah,I notice also 2 days ago.
Any specific reason to go back again,to 1 hour delay?

However, wat is also true is that IPTV is NOT available nationwide...

Guys, are all the HD channels available the moment you subscribe HD services?

I heard from my friend that the availability of the HD channels is based on the package you subscribe, for example - you won't get HD sport channels if you did not subscribe the sports channel?

MCMC: Request for proposal for digital terrestrial TV broadcasting out soon

PETALING JAYA: The request for proposal (RFP) for digital terrestrial television broadcasting (DTTB) will be issued soon, said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

However, the regulator did not say how much of the controversial 700MHz spectrum would be used by the broadcasters or the telecoms player in the digital era.

The “700MHz band is currently being used for broadcasting and the spectrum band for DTTB is 470MHz - 742MHz.”

The telecoms and broadcasting industry need the spectrum for their broadcasting needs. The telcos are becoming broadcasters by pushing TV contents to their users.

In a response to queries from StarBiz , MCMC said the RFP would be issued soon.

Sources said the regulator was evaluating the best model for the DTTB and the requirements were being worked out.

The move from the analogue systems to digital in the broadcasting industry involved the conversion of analogue technology to DTTB.

Astro has gone digital while the country's free-to-air TV services such as RTM 1 and 2, TV3, NTV7, 8TV and Channel 9 are using the analogue technology.

MCMC said the broadcasters were using the 174 230 MHz and 470 806 MHz spectrum bands for their programmes.

Under the current set-up, TV broadcasters are individually licensed as content application service providers where they install their own equipment at transmission sites.

By going digital, the players would need to migrate to a different band and there are needs for a new infrastructure.

The spectrum bands earmarked for digital broadcasting are 174-230MHz and 470-742MHz, MCMC said.

Although the timeline fixed for the phase out of the analogue system is 2015, the regulator has yet to identify those responsible to finance the cost of set-top boxes.

The cost could be between RM1bil and RM2bil and set-top boxes are needed in a digital environment.

MCMC was looking into several options with the interest of the lower-income group in mind.

This move to the digital era in the broadcasting world was a nationwide initiative and not merely focussed on the urban folks, it added.

TRACE Sports HD Lands in Asia

HONG KONG: The TRACE Sports HD channel is now available on AsiaSat 5 in the Asia Pacific.

The channel launched August 1 on Hong Kong Broadband Network's bbtv, with more carriage agreements in Asia to be announced soon. TRACE Sports HD features factual and lifestyle entertainment content about sports celebrities. The channel will feature behind the scenes interviews with teams for the 2012 London Olympics.

The channel is broadcast in English with subtitles in Mandarin and Korean. It is available on cable, DTH, broadband and mobile platforms.

PAN-REGIONAL lifestyle high-definition (HD) TV channel Li, or Life Inspired, recently organised a preview of its new integrated ad packages at the Star Publications (M) Bhd office at Menara Star, Petaling Jaya.

Star Publications (M) Bhd recently made its maiden venture into the television broadcast space by taking up a 51% stake in LI TV Holdings Ltd, which owns and operates Li.

Star’s partner in LI TV Holdings is Juita Viden International Ltd, a member of the Juita Viden Media Entertainment Group, which is the largest independent television programme distributor in Malaysia.

MP & Silva to Rep Italian National Football Team Rights for Asia

SINGAPORE: MP & Silva has acquired the Asian rights for all of Italy's home football matches until the FIFA World Cup 2014.

The sports media company up the rights fro Italian state broadcaster Rai. The deal kicks off with tonight's Italy vs. Spain international friendly, also to include the Azzurri's home UEFA EURO 2012 and FIFA World Cup 2014 qualifiers and friendlies. Italy’s FIFA World Cup 2014 qualifying group will include Denmark, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Armenia and Malta and matches will be played in the period from September 7, 2012, to October 15, 2013.
