FOX International Channels/STAR TV testing 4 HD channels on Asiasat 3S since Apr 30, 2011 according to a Chinese Satellite TV website.

My guess is tvN HD is one of them [hence Unify is carrying tvN SD at the moment] together with:

FOX Family Movies HD
TBA -- not sure about the last one though...

ESPN STAR Sports in La Liga Deal

SINGAPORE: ESPN STAR Sports has clinched a deal to bring exclusive live coverage of Spain's La Liga for the 2012/13 through 2014/15 seasons across 18 Asian markets.

The deal covers standard and HD coverage, broadcast, online and mobile, plus select games in 3D. ESS has the rights for Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Taiwan, Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and North Korea; as well as China and South Korea in English only. The coverage will be delivered on ESPN, STAR Sports, ESPN HD, ESPN Player and Mobile ESPN. La Liga rounds out a football portfolio at ESS that already includes Barclays Premier League, UEFA Champions League, the FA Cup and England home matches and major tournaments from Asian Football Confederation.


“This acquisition underlines our commitment to football fans in the region as we continue providing the most compelling content to our viewers, and an excellent promotional platform for our business partners," said Manu Sawhney, ESS Asia’s managing director. It takes effect from August 2012..but usually, when La Liga match takes place, there are no EPL matches on ESPN at the same time..if there are any EPL matches, its the EPL time slots for ASSP..

MEASAT and Encompass Digital Media sign agreement

MEASAT has announced an agreement with Encompass Digital Media to distribute the ESPN HD and STAR Cricket HD channels. The two ESPN STAR HD Sports channels will be brought to Asia Pacific via an Encompass’ partnership with Tata Communications. The channels will be distributed on the new Encompass MEASAT-3 MCPC platform.

ESPN HD is a high-definition 24-hour sports channel showcasing the diverse sports content from ESPN STAR Sports’ stellar line-up of premier international sports, differentiated to meet the diverse needs of Asian sports fans. STAR Cricket HD is the latest HD channel by ESPN STAR Sports, dedicated to showcasing first-class cricket action from around the globe in high-definition. The channel offers the most comprehensive cricket coverage including live cricket events, cricket news update, magazine and reality shows.

“We are glad to be working with Encompass on adding two HD channels via a new Encompass’ MCPC platform on our MEASAT-3 satellite,” said Jarod Lopez, Director of Sales, Broadcast Services, MEASAT. “With the inclusion of ESPN HD and STAR Cricket HD, MEASAT’s HD neighbourhood now features 20 channels across Asia Pacific.”

The MEASAT-3/3a satellites, located at the 91.5°E orbital hot slot, provides premium video distribution services for the Asia-Pacific region. The existing satellites will be joined at 91.5°E by the MEASAT-3b satellite planned to be launched end 2013.
