A bit annoying that the Signature CC seems to have better benefits than the Premier CC

Has anyone had any luck getting their charges waived by HSBC for late payment?

I transferred money from my current to savings acc. stupidly thinking the automated CC payment would still go through - it didn't and I got charged around RM70.

I did explain this to them once they called me to inform me that my account was overdue.

I'm going to call in the next couple of days, see if I can get the charge waived, just wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with this with HSBC?

Last month I mentioned that I did not receive my previous statement and forgot to make payment. The late penalty and interest charges were subsequently waived after I requested for it. Today realised again my payment is due but did not receive the Statement again. Then I suspect maybe is it because I registered for an online account and therefore no more paper statements will be issued. Just call CS and was told that YES, because I signed up for online account, no paper statements will be issued anymore a month after the online account is activated. How come I did not read this when I sign up for the online account  doh.gif Now have to really remember to check online statement every month  doh.gif  doh.gif  doh.gif Luckily this month no payment due but got credit since I overpaid last month and got the penalty and interest charges waived.

Do HSBC not send you SMS once statement is ready? I always get notifications from HSBC for : Statement Ready, Outgoing MEPS payment, Overseas cash withdrawal confirmation etc.

I've noticed recently HSBC keep calling me to verify transactions on my card quite frequently.

I've always done quite a lot of online transactions without any calls / issues, last couple of weeks been buying some Steam games, Windows 8 upgrade and few other things and every single time I've had a call from them to verify (about 7 calls in total within a few days)

Anyway, I can't complain as its for security smile.gif Never get this when doing transactions abroad (ie. not online) such as in HK/China

I'm Curious .... hmm.gif becoz everytime I doing Online Transactions they just sent SMS or OTP to my phone only, Never received Verfication Calls from HSBC regardings Online Transactions... blink.gif

Upgraded to Windows 8 earlier today ... phone wasn't on me and noticed 3 missed calls and an SMS asking me to call HSBC.

They actually knew it was for Windows 8 update , guess it shows up on their side what the transaction was for

I was thinking of opening a savings account with HSBC, so I went online to check on the details on their website. Apparently you'll get a complimentary CC from them if you have an account with them. Is this true? Can anyone verify this?
*
Unlikely for standard savings account if without any criteria?

I know for Premier accounts they will automatically give CC with RM30K limit.

I see I see.. Thought of having a Premier acc set up there in HSBC, a complimentary CC will be a bonus.. hmm.gif
*
With Premier the CC should be approved automatically, mine got was renewed recently.

I don't hold my Premier qualifying balance in Malaysia , my HSBC account has been sitting at a balance of less than RM1k for the last 2 years and I've never submitted any kind of documents related to income to them.

Anyway in worst case you can always place FD against the card if you're planning to have qualifying balance in the account anyway.

I hope HSBC will launch Visa Infinite card here in Malaysia!!!

Agreed. The highest card is the Premier, and the benefits aren't good at all compared to other providers

Got myself the HSBC Premier Card but somehow felt it does not have much promotions / deals to use for .. sweat.gif

The rewards on the HSBC Premier card are terrible, I haven't used it for a long time apart from the free entry to PP lounge a couple of times.

Not Sure with HSBC... As the Bank Negara  have Forbidding All the Banks in Malaysia to Offer Unsolicited Pre-Approved Credit Card/ Loan Product to Customer (Since July 2013) sweat.gif

Even though You have Signup as Primer Account Holder, they Maybe also Need Your Income Documentation , before they can Issue a Credit Card for You, I also Not Sure with That... rclxub.gif

Normally Premier status automatically gives you a RM30K credit limit regardless, in any country you're a Premier customer (foreign currency equivalent)

I got my Premier card in Malaysia without even having a work permit / Visa (other than a 90 day tourist visa!)

What is the Premier Card? Can't seems to find it in the website, although my CL definitely way more than Premier status
*
You can get a Premier card as long as you have Premier status (ie deposit RM200K in Malaysia, or £50K in UK, or $1 Million HKD in HK etc.) which automatically entitles you to RM30K CC.

Eg. you could have Premier status in Malaysia, stay in Hong Kong and even whilst having no income / work , apply for a HSBC Premier account there + get the card with 60K HKD limit

Some features of the account are good, the card itself isn't very interesting. Of course you can request for a higher CL, that's the minimum!

Yup, agreed. Only meant for the Plaza Premium Lounge ..
I heard that they are planning to revise the terms and condition of this privilege .. unsure.gif

Well the T+Cs are already a bit annoying and have been from the start

No way to know how many of the 15,667 slots have been used doh.gif

Ooo....You guys mean the premier banking cards? What for so troublesome to get that card? Any extra benefits compare other cards?
*
Benefit is more the international features (ie. GlobalView for free transfers) rather than the card benefits.

But that is because you are the premier banking customers, right? Rather than applying to get the credit card, am I right?
