performance wise, any difference? hope the upgrade is not as screwed up as the milestone upgrade, which was really badly implemented. the eclair was better than the froyo for milestone!

You mean froyo has a built-in task killer? Sorry, my Defy still at the Motorola sevice center, so not able to try froyo....

dunno if it is a hassle to repair or not, but sure must be covered under warranty. if not, i will burn down motorola office...

... but when you turn the phone ON again, wouldn't it still ask for the security pattern / code? there is another way to turn off the phone without entering any password / pattern at all..... just pull out the battery.

Yeah, the earpiece problem.... I thought I read that the service is usually not this long. Could be because I am in Kota Kinabalu?

What a joke.... my defy was with the service center for 1 month, now they had sent it back to the shop and the shop called me for collection on the 7th June. However I was outstation and only returned back to my hometown on the 8th June. Went to the shop on the 9th June and guess what.... the shop is closed from 8th till 13th June!

p/s: tried to update froyo using MSU, but cannot de. Only have option to update Milestone & XT720. This is for country Malaysia. Do I choose another country or wait somemore...? Or do I have to do something else? Hmmm....

LOL.... you are right. But I like to maintain my Defy as stock as possible, meaning using all official ROMs only. at least until I find another phone to replace it.

Hmmm... Compelling reasons indeed. Any issues using cm7? This is the only phone I have. The back up phone I have is an ancient motorola v8. And I really don't like using it! I really wouldn't want to revert back to using that phone if possible.

I appreciate your enthusiasm in convincing me that custom ROM is the way to go forward, but there are certain aspects of using a phone which is of more importance to me than they are to you. Cheers brother. I see that eventually, I will get around to doing it. Eventually.

I think maybe that is the autofocus mechanism working? But the weird thing is that before I sent my defy in for service recently (because of the bad earpiece problem), I remember I had this noise in my defy. But now after the phone had been repaired, and since you mentioned it, I tried it again, the noise is gone! How come ah....?

Am using the Gingerbread keyboard on my Froyo Defy. Seems better than the stock keyboard. And I am still not that used to the Swipe keyboard as well... still testing the new Gingerbread keyboard now. Got it free from the Market.
