Bro, I don't have a BIG house like yours lah... that's why my preference is leaning towards the Dynaudio Evidence Master. Secondly, I REALLY am NOT looking forward to dealing with our friend from Perfect Hifi at Wisma MPL again. Thirdly, I REALLY like Dynaudio. Maybe my Guarneri will sound better on its stands (hee..hee... I have not collected it yet) or after I have finally burned it in. Or after I have burned in all my components and connectors but the Marantz + Dynaudio seems to sound better than Krell + Guarneri.
Aiyah...all you SF fans ah...

honestly.....SF has its own fans....

recently had chats with a few friends....few of them commented a full Goldmund setup.....price estimates to be roughly 800k....apparently damn good!!

Place CD player in passenger seat. Make sure box is open and the inside is empty except for player, say transferring CD player from old house to new house. Done. tongue.gif

That's what my friend did once.

Hahaha...if I told them that it is an "old" CD player and if they believe what I said, these guys need their eyes examined.
I think the best way is through kopi money and these people are so hard up that I think MYR300 might just do it. Saves me a bundle anyway.
Lunch on me is no problem whatsoever, whether kowtim or not.... Maybe we'll rope Hushymushy in as well.

Basically, it is a horn cum a dust collector cum satellite dish. Ya, looks weird but some of the others in the market looks far weirder. Good reviews though but one can never believe what the reviewers say. Best I think is for you to listen to it but I think it is kinda hard to find one to audition here. From what I read of it, it is "super-position-critical". For me, I like speakers to sound great wherever I place it.  Just because it will sound better if placed two feet from the back wall doesn't mean I will do so (sorry hushymushy) cos I like things in order and speakers should be heard and seldom seen as an obstruction. From the GT Gen2's many reviews, these speakers need space at the rear to bring out the bass - not my cup of tea. Another thing, it depends on what kind of source you are hooking it up to. Regardless of how good your speakers are, a lousy source will mean a lousy sound. Garbage in, Garbage out. Bro, this GT Gen2 is a garage project from a messy warehouse in downtown LA. You look at how they packed this stuff? If you ask me, I'd rather stick to the mainstream brands. At least there is such a thing as after sales service (unless you buy speakers from Alvin from Perfect Hifi). For the kind of moolah you would expect to pay for the GT Gen2, you might as well look somewhere else and at speakers you can actually touch, feel, smell, look and listen to here in Malaysia. At least if it doesn't sound as good after you have hooked it up at home, there is no one to put the blame on (hahahaha).

taikor...one can't have best of every thing ler....

and i do agree with you about speaker positioning.....
but if you can achieve best position and still look nice....that would perfect world....

my recent audio room....haiyah.....messed up abit...the screen forced my cremonas out abit......but ok lar....sound not much impacted

Ya, me too. My (soon to be partitioned) room only measures 19' X 15'. Gonna partition it with 2 concrete slabs with steel wool in between.

based on Cardas recommendation....your room is slider wider....but nevertheless....having a room is better than none....
can't wait to see your room!!!

actually for my setup.....the cremonas should be 7.3" apart, but if i do that...my side and rear viewers would have a blocked image on the bottom edge....so have to push them to 8" apart

At ur level, preferably a decent setup analog rig not entry level. Cause u wann something better in a certain ways compared to ur arc CDP.

Entry level TT character
1. 2D soundstage...not much depth..like a 'wall' of sound
2. High noise floor
3. Bass lembik
*
yeah rivaling the ARC cdp is gonna be a challenge....

Kronos kinda expensive...not to mention Clear Audio

Linn, Projekt, Rega really kenot meh??? should be ok right??
but i guess with all the upgrades also kantoi the price....

hhmmmmmmmm

Hello sifu's, may I ask if Bowers & Wilkins 685 S2 is a good choice? Is it less popular here in Malaysia because of the price mark up rendering it poor value for money?
*
well errrrr i have to say that in hifi there's no such thing as good choice or bad choice....

more importantly is you have listened to it with a few different amps and combination.....if you find you still like it....then go for it...
music and hifi is kinda selfish environment where what suits you and what you prefer may not be the choice of anyone....

so back to B&W 685 S2.... front ported design....kinda becareful with the lower bass setup because it could be too fast and hence the lower deep bass might be a bit lacking
aluminium tweeter suggests that silver braided speaker cables may not be a good match.....
apart from that.....looks like a well designed speaker

Just done refurbished Sony MHC-G88 with my dad, sounds pretty good through RCA. However, where do I put the surround speaker? Rear? Because its an old model I get pretty confused..also, it seems that it does have an optical out, will try it later, if it still works.
