it is pricey indeed, but this is ur first time taking bcaa ? the extra ingredient only citrulline malate and glutamine wonder which one trigger the headache.

yep first time, i had no idea which one does, but I googled around and I found several factors:

1. i'm hypoglycemic ? hence bcaa reduces my serotonin and the headache + fatigue starts to kick in?

2. sucrolase? too much sucrolase would trigger the headache? (but i dont think this would be it as even ON whey and myofusion has sucrolase... unless xtend uses way more sucrolase per scoop than the protein shakes)

even for glutamate, it is also in ON whey.. never get any headaches with them. ON whey has been good to me since day 1. Heck when ON whey has BCAA's inside. I really don't feel factor 1 could be the cause, unless I'm taking way too much BCAA? lol

*one reason i choose to go with xtend was many mentioned about the tasty drink, but blue raspberry was really a fail to me lol

the serotonin thiggy only happens if u take huge doses of bcaa (e.g.50g)... probably the flavouring agent? o.O

but the flavour.. i tried apple, wasnt as great as i imagine ... its like average, guess not all flav are good, so far i heard watermelon is still the best thou lol. I use apple because last time ego only left with apple doh.gif

Somehow i read it from somewhere if u mix maltodextrine and dextrose 50:50 ratio, it gives a better osmolarity and some of the site criticize on waxy maize starch being over rated.

Who told u about the calculation? 30g is just my one meal. Ur body needs at least 1g of protein to per lbs of ur bodyweight. e.g. 180lbs = 180g of protein daily.

Mix about 2 scoop of dymatize with 250ml of water/milk per serving.

I drink it on postworkout with simple carbs. The rest of the day if i cant find food i will mix it with casein. Usually twice, cant really go out from office during evening :s. offday usually on weekend, so i take normal food biggrin.gif

So far the cheapest one is from ON otherwise u can check out binabadan.com, they have casein from protein factory which is a little more expensive.

It works better than whey alone thou, have feeling that whey passes through our system so fast that our body can hardly absorb it in 100% what more to say if u consume 40g of protein in one go. Thats why sometime protein blend seems to be a better choice, all the fast, medium slow protein that make sure ur body absorb it nicely :3

If u ask for my opinion i would opt for casein or u can cook some egg and drink casein, since protein blend often has whey, feels like i m going to waste it for prebed... If u r rich u can go for cottage cheese lol. Most of the time i m taking whole eggs or chicken. My casein is just for mixture mostly. biggrin.gif

I read an article in t-nation, he said "chew the protein shake" to take advantage of the enzyme (amylase) in ur saliva to promote the digestion rate, but i think it would be fine... since even if we didn't "Chew" properly, our doudenum is capable of producing amylase for digestion so... up to u. For me i dont really gulp down in a go, i sip bit by bit (close to chew it lol). The article also explained, if u didnt digest properly u will often burp or produce flatulence. XD

thanks for the clarification, the idea i was getting previously i though it was that whey pass through the system too fast that the amount of protein that we benefit would be less compared to other slower release protein...

But dude, if u dont mind putting on fat in order to gain weight, u can drink ur weight gainer 6 times a day, u will see the result in a month but i cant assure the welfare of ur health XD
