Hi All,

I have a 3months old baby boy. He's been having flu (Runny Nose during daytime and Blocked Nose during night time) for more than 1 month. He struggles hard to breathe during the night.

I have already taken him to the clinic twice and still giving my baby the medicine given by the doctor. But there is no improvement at all.

Also I use a nasal aspirator to clear his nose during the night time, but it only clears his nose for few minutes.

Can someone please advice me what to do?

Thanks.

Do you sleep in an air-conditioned room? If yes, try not to switch it on at night when he sleeps. My son had the same problem around that age...it's heartbreaking to see them trying to breathe.

Are you breastfeeding? if you are..take lots vitamin c/oranges..so that it will pass some thru your breastmilk.

If not...try bring your son to another doctor?

Try dis...take 2 pieces of betel leaf (daun sireh), roast it lightly in a pan or underneath a candle flame for few second (careful not to burn it)..once hot, rub vicks (or eukyrub) on the leaf surface (the vicks will start to melt cz of the heat), instantly place it on ur baby's chest & back while its hot. The betel leaf will stick to his/her body. Careful not to be too hot! Do it at nite b4 goin to sleep!

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I do not sleep in an Air conditioned room, but I do have a fan. I put it to rotate so that the air doesn't directly hit my baby.

I am breastfeeding and I will try to do as you suggested. If that doesn't work I will take him to anotehr doctor. Actuially I prefer not to take him to clinic all the time since it's not very wise to give medicine to infants all the time.

Thanks
