Do you sleep in an air-conditioned room? If yes, try not to switch it on at night when he sleeps. My son had the same problem around that age...it's heartbreaking to see them trying to breathe.

Are you breastfeeding? if you are..take lots vitamin c/oranges..so that it will pass some thru your breastmilk.

If not...try bring your son to another doctor?
