eh guys, buy low-end phone for sister, better to buy here or in KL? i sort of remember SG supposed to be cheaper cos no import duty (but offset by GST?), but it's been ages since I bought a low-end handset.

Also ... us wp/sp/ep holders still can get GST refund at airport?

guys, if any of you shopping for headphones/earphones/whatever, highly recommend this shop named Jaben, 4th floor Adelphi (city hall mrt there). super friendly owner, and best part is you can sit as long as you like and try all the headphones/earphones as you like until you find a pair that suits you.

also ... any of you using starhub who have problems with 3g data last couple of days? my starhub green on iP4 fuukin useless, 75% of the time no internet at all, the other 25% of the time super slow and frequent timeouts.

You can look for stereo.. Stereo have better reputation than Jaben... anyway it's still very subjective due to the experience may differ.

I've been to stereo (plaza sing, right?), imo their service is nowhere near what uncle wilson gave. although i must admit that at stereo got one sweet young thing salesgirl helping me wub.gif but her product recommendations & knowledge & etc were like just doh.gif and barely better than mine. and also the environment not very conducive for sitting down and testing products cool.gif

I have heard that Jaben tends to price their products on the high side, though, so ... need to go in pre-informed lor.

Anyway guys > If I need to go Penang for the weekend, best is to bus to JB then AirAsia to PG right? I check JB > PG price is so much cheaper than SG > PG price.

Eh, ask you guys, where is best place to buy electronics and electrical appliances (for house)?

Specifically, I need to buy a TV (looking at 40" size), vacuum cleaner, rice cooker, blender, juicer, espresso machine (maybe), iron. Don't have a car here but I can get my gf to drive over for the weekend if it's more convenient. Any suggestions? Courts or Harvey Norman?

I would recommend them to anyone and Nee Soon branch is the one that I deal with.

From their website they've got a bedok branch somewhat kind of within walking distance from my place so I'll pay them a visit this weekend! money money money sad.gif

@kurt ... $300 enough? hmm.gif ... handphone $40 food $200 mrt $40 is already $280, and that's like the bare minimum of necessities without buying other basic living expenses.

When I was a student, handphone and public transport were not basic necessities. I used the phone booth at 7-11 and rode a bicycle.

Why would a student need 40bux for handphone?
Prepaid is more than enough...10 bux reload can extend the validity for 6 months, gives you 13 dollars of call time and quite a number of free local SMS-es (for starhub, not sure for other telco), which is quite a lot.

Haha, I've never been a student in SG so I wouldn't know mah. To me coming over to work, $300 a month seems like impossible to survive.

I can't be bothered about Bersih or local (M'sian) politics anymore. Give up liao. I've always expected some measure of idiocy from the genius MP's, but lately it's just become a huge circus. I'll travel back to cast my vote but that's it.
