i heard OCBC can get CC even u are not a PR or Singaporean with 30k income. regarding the medical check, normally company HR will give u a company letter to go to specific clinic to do those check. regarding debit card, i got no issue getting a DBS debit card with a S pass. annual income also less than 30k. and regarding the dependent pass, some people wants to bring their wife/children down together, so only e pass can apply a dependent pass for them. and the number of dependent pass you can apply depends on what type of e pass u are taking.

sgd lor, if you're working in sg... if you're working in msia i would say 1.6k to 3k
*
I am not sure how u get the range. but for technical support helpdesk (my field), i find that Malaysia pays higher salary (dollar to dollar) compare to Singapore. In Malaysia, we can easily get RM2.5k as the starting pay there but in SG, they normally pay $1.8k.

Jobstreet.
Sure no problem. smile.gif
*
I am not sure why but i think Jobstreet salary is not that accurate. Mayb because we are applying for jobs as a Malaysian in Malaysia while when we go to Singapore, Employers will pay us the foreign worker's rate which is lower compare to local Singaporean.

It gives a rough figure of what you should be expecting. Are you working in Singapore now? And no I don't think so.
*
yes I am, i can say if u expect ur salary base on the report. be ready to be jobless for at least 2-3 months before you can find a company that is willing to offer you that pay.

my previous house owner rented a 2 rooms HDB at marsiling, $1.5k. 5 mins walk to MRT. unfurnish. got 2 aircond and 1 fridge and 1 washing machine. thats all.
I got a colleague rented a 3 rooms near Fernvale in Sengkang. $1.8k. 10 mins walk to LRT. need to change train to MRT line again, not that convenient. fully furnished.

Hi all,
I have questions as I will be driving to Singapore this coming Friday. I expect to be at the Causeway at about 11pm Friday.

1) Do you think it's jam on 11pm Friday at Causeway (or should i use 2nd link?)
2) Do i Need to pay ERP on Sat, Sunday and Monday (Public Holiday)?
3) Where is the nearest Mobil/Esso before entering Singapore at Causeway?

Sorry for the many questions, first time driving into the Republic.
*
1)if u are going into SG, are against the traffic, no problem at the causeway.
2)ERP only at orchard road and several CBD location. anyway foreign cr without the IU only needs to pay $5 no matter how many ERP u gone through.
3)i dun pump esso, so i dunno. the nearest 1 that i know is at Jalan Tebrau. but that is quite a distance away. if u are talking about nearest petrol station, there is a Shell as soon as u leave Malaysia kastam. b4 u go into SG, u can make a U-Turn and pump full tank there 1st.

Hi Lester,
Just curious, have you converted your license to Singapore License already?

Added on April 26, 2011, 9:41 am

But do bear in mind that Shell Patrol Station quite frequently ran out of patrol to sell.
*
nope, i haven convert. next week mayb i go JPJ and take the letter from them.

1 more thing is he is asking for Mobil/esso station la. i dun think there is any near kastam or in JB town. JB town have a caltex and Shell near the CIQ exit. The nearest esso i know of is after Taman Sentosa on the left side at Jalan Tebrau. Not sure if there is 1 in Larkin side coz i seldom travel that side.

You will see one when you are on the way to the kastam, provided you take the road that everybody takes.
*
take note that when you exit Kastam, there is 3 roads we can take that lead to 3 different place.

1. turn left after exit kastam and u will be entering JB town.
2. Go straight after kastam will lead u to Skudai, Larkin and Kulai.
3. Turn Right after Kastam will lead u to Jalan Tebrau (Taman Sentosa, Permas jaya and Austin area)

When you say the road that everybody takes. it doesn't make sense at all.

Thanks for the reminder.
Wanna ask further, when i reach Malaysian Immigration, do park my car and all my passengers go to the building to do the passport thingy or it's like drive though? Is Singapore Immigration also the same? I will remember to bring my Road Tax slip, car insurance, and registration card, and driving license. Let me know if i miss anything.

Thanks ya
*
you dun need to bring so many stuff la. the Singapore and Malaysian immigration is the drive-thru type, so nobody needs to get down of the car. just need to wind down all the windows. As for entering Singapore, you just need to buy an Autopass , just prepare $10 SGD to buy the card. the LTA officer will come to ur car and check ur roadtax. Then with that slip, you can buy the autopass already, no nid show geran, insurance blah blah. Just remember to buy the autopass after u pass the immigration because its illegal if u enter Singapore without the autopass.

Hi, a few questions that I would like to ask:
1. Is that true that downloading drama by using bitcomet, xunlei or whatsoever P2P software is STRICTLY prohibited in singapore?
2. If it is the case, which streaming software is most recommended?
*
not really. i used to dl a lot of drama when i am in Singapore using xunlei. i won't even look at those 4-5gb movies since their internet is so fast, i go for those 10-12gb blueray version. xunlei can run on average 600-800kb/s on a 10mbps line. and i dled a lot of drama, game shows and movies. but too bad my landlord wants to move and i decided to stay in JB. if not, sure my movie collection will be much more compare to now. i even download XXX movies in SG. no prob at all. (i stayed in SG for exactly 1 whole year)

I checked with a few picture shops and they mentioned that it would be better to have it done at MOM itself.
*

You're right.....I'm damn jakun in this kinda thing. Never 'smuggle' things thru any customs all my life.

Thanks for your advise anyway.
*
if u are on a bus, then it depends on ur luck. if u got face problem, then they might really ask u a lot of stuff and might ask u to pay tax.
better open up the box and carry the box and the iPad separately. the best option is get a friend and car pool to JB with u. for cars and motorbikes, the kastam is a lot lenient compare to bus or plane.

Expected tonight go back also human Jam..
*
u stay in JB also? which part of JB? u commute daily by bus??

QUOTE(L7Awesome @ May 13 2011, 03:04 PM)
Nope, I used Woodlands.  The jam is MEGA! I was in Malaysia Checkpoint at 7:40 and I reached the ICA checkpoint at 9:00.  Somehow funny thing was that nearing to ICA, it was all clear.. I was cursing the lorries that I thought was blocking the way! Reached office at 9:30am too.
*
need to long meh?? u take bus izzit? I take bike, i reach the Jam area at 8:05am like that. i finish crossing the check points at 9am. it is not the lorries that is blocking la. around 8:30am that time, u can see the whole causeway is fill with motorcycles only as those buses and cars have cleared.

Somehow out of a sudden, there seems to be a lot more lorries than usual.  Maybe it's the lorries system that broke down?

Added on May 13, 2011, 3:30 pm

I drove in today since I felt a bit lazy to drive and gosh, I was caught with this little surprise.  Maybe they are upgrading the system?  I think this evening, the exodus will be huge!

Lester, you go in through the 2nd link daily?
*
nola, i go in daily by bike using causeway. i tried 2nd link once. those bikers in 2nd link are like barbarians. no space already still want to squeeze. in the causeway, they are more polite and will at least leave some empty space to put our legs. we will also line up without cutting queue in the causeway. at 2nd link, its a total mess if u are taking bike.
