i feel like getting a 3 room HDB but at the price of 400k?! i dun think i can finish paying it through out my life

eh, if u in KL same thing also what. 25-30 years loan to buy rm400k condo.

QUOTE(crapp0 @ Jun 20 2011, 09:18 AM)
Since thats the set time frame when the BTO's should be fully constructed. Which would be during the recession of 2012-2013.

too early imo. recession/property bubble burst should be only sometime second half of the decade. which leaves plenty of time for me to save, get PR/citizenship, then wait for prices to drop before buying biggrin.gif

but since we earning SGD, RM400k seems... not tat hard

what i mean is that for KL guys earning RM, it's very very normal to plonk down a 25-30 year loan to pay off an rm400k condo. so it's not any different from us earning SGD and buying an rm400k hdb with also a 25-30 year loan.

Since its a global recession like 2008-2009 since the corrective measure in banking hasnt been fixed yet, europe is still debating on clearing the debts of greece and spain, portugal, ireland and italy are still saddled with debt. The US economy doest show signs of improvement either and looks like to gonna have another collapse. Your estimate is the calculated recession that occurs every 10 years but 2012's recession is due to 2009's after effects.

my estimate isn't based on any financial or actual real world data, it's more of a 'hope' based on the time it'll take me to settle down, PR, and save up enough $$ to downpayment housing when it drops in price lol.

offtopic. greece mang, debt 150% of gdp and 20%+ borrowing costs, how on earth they gonna survive without triggering some sort of default on their debt is beyond me.

@keith you can apply anytime after 6 months, since you need to give 6 months payslip. but your chance of approval is lower unless you are P1. I read somewhere that P1 - recommended 6mths-1year, P2 1-2 years, Q 2-3 years, S ... 3years+? Dunno how accurate is that info.

Prepaid wise, the data plan is just too expensive.

i using starhub green prepaid, 1.5gig plan 7 days validity = $7. so 1 month got 6gb for $30. even after convert to RM also way cheaper than what maxis postpaid charges for data.

i thought work permit and staying there is 2 different things? so i dont need a social visit pass or something? O.o

i don't understand what you're confused about. when a country issues you a work permit, that country is giving you permission to work there, right? by extension therefore you are also automatically granted permission to stay there as well. where got such thing as a country saying "here's your work permit, but u not allowed to stay here so u gotta commute in every morning and leave the country every night ...?"

@jungyu http://www.crownrelo.com/ is the vendor that my company engaged to ship my stuff over from KL to SG. they go to my KL place, survey, pack everything for me, then in SG they'll unpack everything.

no idea how much they charge though.

@sean well i suppose got a niche market for ppl like me who been using the last 3 iPhones and kinda wanna see what the android hype is about, haha.

sgs-2 seems nice, gotta see whether any of the telco's offer it in the corporate package things that they offer the company. although i don't really know what i'd do with another phone (got a personal iP4 from MY and a white one from the company already). Carry 3 phones meh? Maybe give my old iP4 black to one of my sisters (lol).

btw any of you got any suggestions for a wireless bluetooth headset (with mic) that can also double up as stereo headphones?

@ky_khor well erm ... from my very limited personal knowledge, degree+5years exp should be more than either range that you've mentioned.

@jungyu degree+exp also kena rejected 9 times? hmm.gif something fishy going on imo, if S-pass also cannot (I'm assuming you should be offered > 2.5k which is the base Q1 EP requirement)

if any of you have friends working in stanchart, get them to apply the singtel iphone plan for you. it's $34/mth for free incoming, 500outgoing mins, 12gig data, 500sms, 2 year contract & iP4 32gb free. each staff can apply 3 lines/phones.

i dunno how singtel makes any money off this seeing as the iP4 32gb is $1k+ off the apple store ($34x24 = $816).

Wow, you working in Standchart?

Yeah, but I don't really see what's so 'wow' about it lol. After all maybe I'm just a teller at one of the branch, nothing wow about that what biggrin.gif

QUOTE(alaskanbunny @ Jun 25 2011, 11:13 AM)
i mentioned last time before, but the downside is any problem you gotta talk to the corp sales rep/support... you cant just call singtel lor...

Hmmm, ours I think migrate liao, now want to ask about price plans or etc call direct to singtel corp hotline.

Spoke to the corp rep about the iPhone vs the other plans. Smartphone plans are a flat 20% off, so following jurlique's link that would be $76 for 2 years for the SGS2. iP4 $34, SGSII $76 (2 years) ... more than double leh. Worth it? hmm.gif

@tht my EP took about 7 (calendar) days for MOM to come back to me with some questions, then another 7 (calendar) days to issue me my IPA.

Anyway ... as part of relocation, the company provided me accomodation til 1st July. And the apartment I'm going to rent, can only move in on 7th July. So I was like OK no probs, I'll just bunk in a cheap place for a week, made bookings & everything.

Then suddenly today got this email ...

QUOTE
As our management have decide to close the hotel for renovations from july onwards. As such,we are unable to accept your reservation for the period you requested. We like to thank you for your support and wish you a pleasant day.

whaffffffffffark last minute close down?!? now gotta do last minute arranging place to stay mad.gif
