Hi zheilwane,

Recently I went to inquire about Grundfos water pump and was recommended 2 options.  I do not know the model but i think it should be similar to the ones you recommended.

The first option has higher pressure but smaller inlet.  Hence can support up to 4 bathrooms only.

The second option has lower pressure but bigger outlet and hence can support up to 6 bathrooms.

I am a little confused here.  If the 2nd pump has lower pressure, how can it support more taps/showers even though it has higher flow rate?  Surely the pressure would reduced if there are more people using the shower/tabs?

Which is a better option?  I have 6 bathrooms but i doubt all will be used at the same time.
*
Here is an example:
When u r washing ur car, u use a hose. If you press the tip of the hose it will increase the water pressure and it could remove the dirt on ur car but if u release the hose, the pressure will drop bt you have more water coming out.

Are you renovating your house now or u just wanna get a pump? Why not u drop by my showroom? That would help u understand better, we do sell many other products such as FOTILE (hood + hob), Johnson Suisse (toilet bowl n basin), Sorento (taps & bathroom accessories)

I guess your plumber mounted the water pump on a wall. When the pump vibrates a little, the vibration will travel down to ur house and the noise is also amplified.

Not very difficult to do the stuff above but due to CNY is around the corner, it will b costly to do so (plumbers will hike up the price).

If you wanna get the problem solved quick, jus drop by my shop and speak to Thomas, he would b able to give some good advise.

zheilwane,

any recommendation for water pump need to be put on concrete slab on top of the roof? is there any casing for the water pump?

Please recommend me something for 3 bathroom.

You can go for Grundfos Cm3-5PC. However, you need to ask ur contractor to build shelter for the pump or some of my customers get a stainless steel tank to cover the pump

Btw, my plumbers dont provide the stainless steel cover

Yes you can modify and add a tank, saw ppl doing that but if u modify it, the warranty might void. If ur pipe can last 1 week without problem, it should give u any problem in the future.

Adding a tank from pt model won't reduce the pressue but it definitely reduce the motor frequently  start stop.

The hammering occur normally due to your piping not secure/fix, the abs pipe vibrate when the pump start, stop. Try add more bracket to hold the pipes ...
Nothing will affect the warranty as the tank can be install away from the pump, just modify the main pipe with tee and add a stopcock before connect to the tank.

Thatz y i say MIGHT n not WILL. It all depends on how u install the tank, there are ppl who installed it right above the PC which will damage the PC as the tank is heavy. If u install it away from the pump then it is OK. With the tank, water hammering could b reduced as the TANK will absorb back some of the impact.

For better performance, you can get Grundfos UNI E model which comes with variable speed, slow start and slow stop, reduce water hammering and protect ur pipes.

My house using PC, no water hammering noise at all. Whether u hear the noise or not, depends on the quality of the piping work.

Added on March 15, 2012, 11:44 amHowever, using the right pump could reduce the hammering

Recently I just bought Grundfos CM3-5PC water pump from Zean. Get my plumber to install it on Thursday & have a chance to test it today.

Here is my experience on this water pump & conversation with my wife after I tested it...

Me   : Oh... I felt so stupid & regret after I bought this Grundfos water pump.
Wife : Why? I tot u said it's good?  hmm.gif
Me   : No! U listen to me... I tested it just now... Now look at my pants...  cry.gif
Wife : Huh? OMG... U pee on ur pants?  shocking.gif
Me   : Urrrr.... No lar...
Me   : Hai...  Becoz of the water pump lar... Just now I opened my water stopcock in my bath room. The water is coming out from the water tap hole (I haven't installed water tap yet) & shooting at me around 1ft long... Where I'm standing 5 ft away from it... Then, I asked my contractor to open water pump to test...  shocking.gif The water just shooting at me directly on my pants...  Damn... I'm standing 5ft away from the water tap hole!!! My contractor & I laughing non-stop...
Wife  : I tot u said regretted buying it?  sweat.gif
Me    : Ya lar... I should have bought this earlier...  tongue.gif
Wife  : doh.gif

In conclusion, this is a MUST BUY item.  thumbup.gif

High pressure doesn't mean good. When pipe burst, you will have nightmare.

A correct pressure is the correct way.
*
For those who are scared of burst and wanna get the right pressure, can consider Grundfos UNI E model. This model comes with a control panel where by u can control the pressure from 2.5 bar - 4 bar. This is a variable speed pump and it can maintain constant pressure

can pm me the best price for CH2 and CH4? Btw, i read from the website that PT is far more quieter compare to CH2. is it true?
who is zean? and how you come to choose CM3, instead of the normal CH2? care to share more?
so what do you advise now? mine is a double storey terrace house.

Added on June 17, 2012, 12:34 am
so you ended up buying which water pump?
*
PC & PT pumps have the same noise level as they are using the same pump but PT pumps have lesser vibration as the PT can absorb some vibration and the weight of the PT will dampen the vibration as well.

CH2 has been discontinued and replaced with CM pump.

Who is Zean?

Zean = Zheilwane

If you wan to get a quiet pump, constant pressure and lesser water hammering, go for UNI E but it is double the price of normal PC pump.

Some houses do not have water hammering noise at all, some are very noisy. If it is the pump's problem, every1 should have water hammering, so it is quite true that water hammering is due to poor installation but water pumps like UNI E start slow and stop slow could reduce water hammering

Both are managed by Grundfos, the have same standard for QC, why must ITALY things must be good? Should look more on the spec and material used rather than the origin. FYI, Grundfos is reputable for their original pumps (GRUNDFOS). Gemini was bought over by Grundfos.

Grundfos body is cast iron while impellers are stainless steel. Do you think plastic is more durable? Taiwan or Italy, they are also managed by Grundfos with their sets of rules and QC. However, with the price that we are offering, our Grundfos Pump's price is quite close to Gemini, so most of our customers will get Grundfos.

Actually i did point of the difference before, most resellers try to deceive customers saying that GEMINI is Grundfos
